I adore this album. The song writing is so quietly beautiful at points, and so explosively otherworldly at others. It constantly made me *feel*. I love every track, and I feel that, many of the other tracks are more ambitious, more clever, have stronger compositions and better progressions. That said, this is my favorite song - it's raw, heartbreaking and beautiful. It's reveals information through each listen, and does it in a way that makes you feel apart of the story. There is so much narrative beauty here, sung in a way that is just so transcendent. This is folk for a new generation. It breaks my heart because a part of me connects to this song, and really, everything in this album. Amazing album
Gosh I love so much about this song. There's something so captivating about the lines about "pretending to be myself." And the song as a whole pulls at my heart strings in a way that reminds me of what theologians used to call the Sensus Divinitatus, if you'll forgive some Latin lol
Guitar Tuning: She's playing a baritone with capo on 1, in a weird open A tuning. On a regular guitar with no capo, I believe it translates to A#FA#DA#D. If you look at the low string as the root, the chords mostly cycle between 0 (open), 5, and 7 or 4.
This is my favorite off the album. The storytelling is just on another level. Whenever I listen to Punisher and this song comes on, this song will be played numerous times before I get the courage to move on with the next. I love this. The poetry and rhyming and the melody of the first stanza. ❤️❤️❤️💯💯💯💯
Lyrics : I've been running around in circles Pretending to be myself Why would somebody do this on purpose When they could do something else? Drowning out the morning birds With the same three songs over and over I wish I wrote it, but I didn't so I learn the words Hum along 'til the feeling's gone forever Took a tour to see the stars But they weren't out tonight So I wished hard on a Chinese satellite I want to believe Instead I look at the sky and I feel nothing You know I hate to be alone I want to be wrong You were screaming at the Evangelicals They were screaming right back from what I remember When you said I will never be your vegetable Because I think when you're gone it's forever But you know I'd stand on the corner Embarrassed with a picket sign If it meant I would see you When I die Sometimes when I can't sleep It's just a matter of time before I'm hearing things Swore I could feel you through the walls But that's impossible I want to believe That if I go outside I'll see a tractor beam Coming to take me to where I'm from I want to go home
She actually said he makes mediocre music, not that he is a mediocre musician. No matter what anyone thinks of his music, he is and will remain a legendary musician. I get what you're saying though. The whole Eric Clapton thing was still uncalled for in my opinion but even if she thinks he's a racist that makes shit music, she can't deny that he can play and sing. This coming from a 40 year old who's definitely not a fan of Clapton and loves Phoebe Bridgers's 3 chord songs :)
@@medrare2370 i totally agree with the criticizes of clapton racism ,even that he says years later that he was sorry and that it was a stupid act.I understand the criticizes ,because racism is a stupid act.But no make any sense to say that clapton is a mediocre musician or that he does mediocre music, especially because her music has nothing grand or even innovative
when she sings "you were staring at the evangelicals" and the guitar riff comes in, one of my favorite moments on the album
YES. and the drums ❤
*screaming*
@@earlisonline screaming right back from what i remenber
the guitar riff played in that section is actually so beautiful. Just paid £120 for one ticket to see phoebe in manc. Had to buy a re-sale ticket :(
Instant fav from the new album. "I want to belive... instead I look at the sky and I feel nothing" it MELTS ME
FRRRR
The lyrics in this song hit so hard! The feeling of not believing but wanting to... I find this supremely relatable.

you are an angel
hum along 'till the feelings gone forever
Gawd damn this is great! I can't explain it.

Lyrics :
I've been running around in circles
Pretending to be myself
Why would somebody do this on purpose
When they could do something else?
Drowning out the morning birds
With the same three songs over and over
I wish I wrote it, but I didn't so I learn the words
Hum along 'til the feeling's gone forever
Took a tour to see the stars
But they weren't out tonight
So I wished hard on a Chinese satellite
I want to believe
Instead I look at the sky and I feel nothing
You know I hate to be alone
I want to be wrong
You were screaming at the Evangelicals
They were screaming right back from what I remember
When you said I will never be your vegetable
Because I think when you're gone it's forever
But you know I'd stand on the corner
Embarrassed with a picket sign
If it meant I would see you
When I die
Sometimes when I can't sleep
It's just a matter of time before I'm hearing things
Swore I could feel you through the walls
But that's impossible
I want to believe
That if I go outside I'll see a tractor beam
Coming to take me to where I'm from
I want to go home
But I’d stand on a corner, embarrassed with a picket sign, if it meant I could see you when I die
What a magical night. I spent most of it in the movie room until she was about to start.
Yeah, Sid the Cat shows are the best! Did you get the tarot cards? Super cool
@@The_Cabrit Yep! I got the large Phoebe card and I managed to get the smaller one of the band.
definitely my favourite phoebe bridgers song
can't wait to see her live one day.
another killer shot! many thanks Cabrit, you rule!
Thanks. Halloween, Graceland Too, and I Know the End concert footage coming soon 🤘
Cabrit doing the lord’s work 🥺🥺
Wonderful song.
is it june 19th yet??
Yes
Is there a live video of “I see you?” I love that song
The only time she's performed that one was on one of her recent live streams- the one from her kitchen
Fantastic song, themes and emotion reminiscent of Avril's "I'm with you"
I want to believe. Instead I look at the sky and I feel nothing 🌙
What does she say at the start?
“This song is about jogging and aliens”
@@jinglejangleasmr typical 😂
does anyone know what chords she’s playing here?
Anybody know the tuning for this awesome song??
that’s what i’m trying to figure out
always weird tunings. I just figure out the chords in standard like a bum
Its a baritone guitar so open standard for that would be like a 4th down, in addition its an open A tuning capo'd on 1
Does anyone know what guitar tuning she is using here?
Would love to know
I'm not positive but she is using her baritone guitar, it looks like
open c i think
which guitar is that?? please someone tells me
Its a Danelectro 56 Barritone. They have previously made them with two headstock designs, Phoebes has 3 a side tuners rather than the 6 in line.
3:42 sounds like a whale communicating
Please please please post halloween 🥺
Posted x 2. Enjoy! ☠️🤘
