Souther Africans? The term sub saharan is a racist, inaccurate and revisionist term. The black people who were Moors came from.the Sahel and North Africa.
Based on the depictions or Moors in European artwork during their rule and afterwards, the Moors seem to be mostly made up of Black Africans.
And all wither from Ethiopia and North African and the sahel. Negroes are native to ALL of Africa.they were their first before berbers migrated in and carved out their own space. Albiet with some a mixing too.

At the time a lot of the Arabs were much darker in complexion. At that time before they started to have children with Caucasian female prostitutes lighting the complexion of a large percentage of their race.
Still All black people were considered moors. The word Moor was synonymous with negro or dark skinned.

No one ever mentions the fact that there were Black Africans living in Europe who were Catholics under the Visigoths. Before Mohammedanism (There was no Quran yet that is why you never see one with the Moors) the North African Coast was dotted with Catholic Monasteries with Black African Monks. The Moors may have had alot of help already in Spain when they arrived.

Not just Moors from Africa. Remember that local population also converted to Islam, and Africans did intermarry with local Europeans. So Al Andalus is a mixture and joint project of Arabs, Berbers, Goths, Hispano Romans, as well as Europeans from the north. Since Al Andalus did have slaves of European origin.

No it's not! The Umayyad occupation of the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) was made by the Umayyad Caliphate (Arabs) that conquered all Arabia, Mesopotamia, Levante and North Africa in 7th Century. And then occupied the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) from 8th to 13th Century in Portugal (1249). From 8th to 15th Century in Spain (1492). In terms of Kingdoms it was the Umayyad Caliphate, Fatimids, Almoravids, Almohads and Nasrids. In other words thousands of Arabs, Amazighs and also thousands of Persians and Syrians that the Ummayad Caliphate brought from Mesopotamia and Levante to North Africa. Amazighs (Berber) armies were used by everyone in North Africa. Phoenicians used them. Romans used them. Arabs used them. Pretending that all the Knowledge that Arabs brought to Iberian Peninsula didn't came from Arabia, Mesopotamia, Levante and Egypt is just being biased. In the end of the day the influences left in the Iberian Peninsula are Arabic. The algebra that we use is Indian-Arabic. Our languages (Portuguese and Spanish) have hundreds of Arabic words adaptions. And Nautical Science, Navigation, Astrolabe, Sextant none of that came from Africa. Iberians were sea people at least since presence of Phoenicians in 1100BC. Phoenicians (Carthaginian Empire) spread all around the Mediterranean Sea coming from Lebanon, Syria where they emerged in 3000BC. The fact that they used berber cavalry in the Maghreb 'cause they set the Capital of their Carthaginian Empire in Carthage, Tunisia built in 900BC, doesn't make them African.
Portugal was born in 1143 (12th Century) and defeated the Muslim Moors (Arabs, Persians, Syrians and Amazighs (Berbers)) in 1249 (13th Century). That's before Mansa Musas's Mali "Empire" that only florished under the control of the Islamic World and as vassals of the Sultans of Mecca. Portuguese Navy, Nautical Science, Navigation, Boat construction is the result of several Schools the Kingdom implemented bringing Specialist from all the World. In 1415 Portugal started the Age of Discovery by conquering Ceuta (Muslim Moors City in North Africa) and started sailing to get to India around Africa in 1419. And did it with boats and skills that changed World's Nautical History forever. In 1500 Portuguese were already the first Global Empire of the World with territories in all Continents. From China to Brasil. What Portuguese found in Southern Regions of Africa were primitive tribes not even comparable to Egypt that by that time was already quite primitive when compared to European Empires! Stop propagating lies you're embarassing yourselves (Americans) and real Africans! Best Regards from Portugal, American Kangz!

An expensive, but sure way to figure out who the Moors are ethnically, is to go visit Morocco or other countries in Northwest Africa. There are some minor differences between early Moors and current north Africa, but their ethnic composition remains largely intact. Two insights will occur: 1) You'll come to realize the word "Africa" isn't always a "black" place. 2) You'll come to realize the overwhelming majority of North Africans are caucasiod Berbers. The closest ethnic relations to North Africa is the eastern Mediterranean and Southern Europe.

Yep. It's just that sub-Saharan Africans love the idea that they 'black people' ruled over Europe at one time. Spoiler, they didn't. There were some black soldiers and slaves, but the Moors were primarily Arabs, Berbers and European Muslims. There is a new rewriting of history by black people where they basically ruled everything, invented everything and were everything. AI is making it even worse, because now they can generate fake AI photos depicting themselves as kings and so on, and people are unfortunately stupid enough to believe it.

Prior to the Arab conquest of North Africa, Jews lived all throughout the coast and also within the interiors of the Sudan & Western Africa. . The ethnic population of the Moorish Empire consisted of Arabs, Native African Berber Tribes & Jews. . There were also many Jews at this time who had adopted Islam within the coasts of Africa because of the Arab conquest
Travels In Africa By Nahum Slouschz 1927 Page 365
However in 711AD, the conquest of Spain was again undertaken, this time by the Musselmans in concert WITH THE JEWS. The first one to set foot on the soil of Spain was General Tarif (“a Jew of the tribe of Simeon”), after whom the island of Tarifa, opposite Tangiers, was named. Another Israelite Berber chief, named Kaulan el Yehudi, followed the Arabs into Spain and, after the peninsula had been occupied by the Mussalmans, tried to raise a REBELLION AGAINST THEM. Among other Jews connected with the conquest of Spain were two sons of the Cahena, at the head of the army of Jerua.

North Africa and Spain have been long part of an european empire, the roman empire. During that time many european lived in Africa long before Arabs. Alger (Iconium) has been founded by Romans for example. Morocco and Spain were even part of the same roman district, the "diocesis Hispaniorum". After the fall of the roman empire, western Europe and north Africa has been invaded by germanic people such as Goths in Spain, Franks in Gaul and Vandals in Africa. Despite the fall of the empire, links have never really been broken between north Africa and Europe. They all shared the same christian religion and continued to have trade. In the 6th century north Africa was taken back by the eastern roman empire which controled Syria, Egypt and Palestine too. Then came Islam wich led to a profound ceasura between the islamic and the christian part of the mediterranean world. So North Africa had always had more relationship with Europe than with subsaharan Africa separated by a huge desert that was much more difficult to cross than the mediterranean sea.
Africans doesnt mean black. Africa is a roman name, they gave it to Tunisia after they have invaded it and it was inhabited by phoenicians (Carthag) who came from Middle East. So first people named Africans in history were not black. Moors, like Numids were not black. Most of berbers are not black, they even have lighter skin than Arabs. It is true that you also have some black berbers but they live in the southern parts of North Africa like Mauritania. So, it has been during a very short period that some black muslims dominated Spain : the Almoravid dynasty which originated from Mauritania and lasted 50 years before being overthrowed by Almohad who were Arabs.

Exactly! "Mouros" for us Portuguese or "Maurus/Mauri" for Roman/Italians didn't refer to the same people necessarily. That's a vague term. For Romans Maurus/Mauri were the Phoenicians (Carthaginian Empire) and their Amazigh (Berber) armies. For Portuguese and Spanish Mouros were the Umayyad Caliphate, Almoravids, Almohads, Nasrids that occupied the Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) in 8th-13th Century in Portugal and 8th-15th Century in Spain. In other words Arabs, Persians, Syrians and Amazighs (Berbers).
Portuguese culture since Medieval Times was influenced by a lot of people Celts, Visigoths, Romans, Phoenicians and also Muslim Moors (Arabs, Persians, Syrians, Amazighs). As was South Italy for example since the Phoenicians (Carthaginian Empire) 'cause they had territories/ports/cities all around the Mediterranean Sea since 1100BC. From their original Cities in Levante (Lebanon, Syria), to Egypt, Lybia, Tunisia where they built Carthage in 900BC (conquered by Romans in 146BC), Argelia, Morocco, South Iberian Peninsula, Malta, South Italy, South Greece.
Phoenicians (Carthaginian Empire) used Amazigh (Berber) cavalry. So did Romans in their North African Provinces in Mauretanea (Morocco and Argelia). Not to be confused with nowadays Mauritania, the the Country.
For us Portugal (Born in 1143) the Muslim Moors (Arabs, Persians, Syrians, Amazighs) occupation only took 106 years till 1249, when the last Sultan of Algarve was defeated.

It’s important to delve into history through reading, as images alone cannot provide a comprehensive understanding. It’s noteworthy that the Moroccan Sultans employed African soldiers in their armies. Some of these soldiers’ leaders were handsomely compensated by the Sultan, enjoying luxuries such as opulent houses, fine clothing, and companionship. However, their roles were confined to their military duties and they were not involved in the dynastic rule, the Moorish people in general, or the intellectual advancements of the time. These African individuals were hired warriors, their contributions primarily limited to their skills in warfare. Their lifestyle and compensation should not be misconstrued as having a broader influence on the achievements of the dynasties they served.

Before anyone refers to the Roman Empire as the main influence of civilising of the European continent, do not forget all the other empires that existed before the Roman Empire.
In fact if you look back in history beyond the Roman Empire, you will discover that many of those that preceded the Roman Empire originated from the East and South of the Mediterranean.
Prior to those earlier empires, Europe was considered lands populated by barbarians. In fact, the Romans, you could say, were civilised by these earlier empire builders, and could only continue to spread the knowledge they learned from these earlier conquerors.
I think it would be more realistic for us to admit to the fact that our collective knowledge has always been built on older knowledge throughout history and from peoples who came before us from other civilisations that were more advanced than ours at an earlier time.

    • @EmperorWewuzIII
      @EmperorWewuzIII 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Europe wasn't civilized by anyone, it developed its own civilizations. Greece and Rome were the most advanced civilizations of their time. • @Danderman888
      @Danderman888 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I stand corrected, as not all Europeans were considered barbarians by the ancients, mostly the Western and Northern Europeans.
No doubt, the Romans acquired much of the learned knowledge from the Greeks and possibly also the Anatolians and made much further advancements and refinements. But let's not forget the Romans were not in existence when the Greeks were at their zenith, and were considered not much more than barbarians.
The Greeks, in turn, were only able to develop their civilization on the backs of the Egyptians and Mesopotamians. Which if you well know, are not considered parts of Europe.
And I'm sure, despite the little that is known today, for sure, where the Egyptians and Mesopotamians piggybacked their learning from, to think any civilization could actually magically become civilised without the help of earlier peoples is nothing short of naivete.
Let me go a step further by pointing out that if it was not for the conquest and occupation of the Iberian Peninsula by the Umayyad Empire, Greek philosophy, mathematics and even medicine would have been lost forever because of the fall of Rome Empire and the ensuing dark ages.
Just as no man is an island, so neither is any collective of people able to advance on their own steam alone.

No, the Moors did not enslave Mali. Mali is a West African country that was once part of the Mali Empire, a powerful and wealthy state that flourished from the 13th to the 16th century. In Morocco first of. And in Portugal and Spain that were heavily influenced by "Muslim Moors" (Umayyad Caliphate, Fatimids, Almoravids, Almohads, Nasrids) or in other Words Arabs, Amazighs, Persians, Syrians. Thousands of Moors in Portugal gave out without a fight, converted to Christianity and embraced a new Kingdom/Religion. So there's still hundreds of Moorish-Portuguese families. Mostly in Lisboa, Alentejo, Algarve but also in Madeira and Azores Islands 'cause those Islands were populated in the early 1400's by Moorish-Portuguese families or the so called "New Christians". Cristiano Ronaldo's family has Moorish-Portuguese ancestry from Madeira Island. As does Gonçalo Ramos that just signed for PSG and his family is from Algarve (South Portugal). As does my mom's family originally from Algarve and afterwards from Ilha Terceira, Azores Archipelago. The Corte-Real Family. You can see it in João Vaz Corte-Real, Portuguese Navigator that by 1472 was sent to Denmark by the King of Portugal to re-establish the alliance between the Portuguese Kingdom and the Danish Kingdom that were united by families. In the process he explored the Ciasts of North America, Canada and Greenland. Has did his sons Gaspar Corte-Real and Miguel Corte-Real in the following years. And João Fernandes Labrador. All Navigators from Ilha Terceira, Azores Archipelago. That's how Terranova-Labrador (Newfoundland-Labrador) got its name. Also known in Portugal back then as "Terra dos Corte-Reaes" (Land of the Corte-Reaes) and "Terra do Bacalhau" (Land of the CodFish). The "Muslim Moors" (Arabs, Amazighs, Persians, Syrians) never left. Only the Muslims that chose not to convert and embrace the Kingdom of Portugal. The Reconquista weren't battles between races but between different Kingdoms and Religions. What we call Arabic/Moorish influences are treasured in Portugal and are part of our culture. Its present in toponimic names for example. There 146 Municipalities, Villages, Cities and Regions with Arabic Names. Most start by "Al". Algueirão, Alcabideche, Algês, Alcântara, Alcobaça, Alcácer, Aljustrel, Alandroal, Alentejo, Albufeira, Altura, Algarve, etc. It's shown in food, art, music, architecture, gold filigree, ceramic tiles (Azulejos), etc. But those are mostly Arabic. As both Portuguese and Spanish languages have hundreds of Arabic words adaptions.

@brixcosmo6849 Brother, i just want to rectify one detail: Moors has nothing to do with the nations you described as Moors, moors as a name originate back from The Mauritania Tinjitana Kingdom "Old Moroccan" there people were and still being named Moors, and if you look for "Morocco" as name of Country you can see it clear **Moor-roco**, the use of Moor to describe all Muslims is like the one Americans use to describe the Latinos as **Spanishes**, if we come back to the history the Conquest came from the land Of Morocco via Tanger, i think that why we have this confusion, but by DNA and Fact Moors that were in Iberia are More related to Morocco than to any other today's countries, example in Portugal you have "Alcalla del moro" and else, even the dynasties that ruled there were originally from Morocco especially in Almouravides Almouahads and Marinides... even in the time of the Umayad, the rulers were Arabic, but the Army and the population of the kingdom were mostly North Africans and local converted people.

@@med8895 i understand your point. Basically i'm saying this nothing to do with Ghana, Benin, Congo, Ethiopia, etc. I have a lot of friends whose ancestors are from those regions and even thuse find these American narratives stupid AF! 'Cause we still use the word "Mouro" for people that are "Morenos". And "Moreno" for us is a guy like Cristiano Ronaldo if we're talking about skin color and we also use it for hair color. Its our word for brunette. People in the North of Portugal still call "Mouros" to people in Lisboa, Alentejo and Algarve. And it's nothing racist or any type of prejudice. It's a reference to History 'cause in the Southern parts of Portugal thousands of Moors gave up without a fight and embraced the Portuguese Kingdom becoming Portuguese "New Christians". But in our case "Moors" ment Muslim of any type of color. We know by records and art the majority of those were more Arab/Amazigh/Berber looking than actually black. Not that we care about that we just don't like history being spoken with generalizations like Africans vs Europeans. Talk about Kingdoms and Civilizations. Many of these early Civilizations were multiethnic. Racism was a virus created by Northern Europeans centuries after the begining of the Age of Discovery started by Portuguese around 1419 after conquering Ceuta in 1415. Back in those 1400's 1500's Portuguese allied with Ghana Tribes, Kingdom of Kongo, Ethiopia, Ibduans, China, Japan. Portuguese narried Africans, Asians and Indians in Brasil. Slavery was a business all over the World. It had nothing to do with racism till it started to do when ignorant theories started to be spread by some and that virus caught millions of ignorants or not so ignorants that just wanted an excuse to do it. We are not different. My skin color is like Cristiano Ronaldo's. Gonçalo Ramos is more Moroccan than some Moroccan's 'cause they both come from Moorish-Portuguese families. The great majority of Portuguese coukd blend in as locals in Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Lybia, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Turkey, Greece, etc. Moors is vague. Maurus/Mauri for Romans were the Amazigh/Berber tribes of Roman Provinces of Mauretanea and that was actually nowadays North Morocco and Argelia. Not Mauritania the Country. For us "Mouros" basically were all Muslim Moors and that would refer to all of those. The conquest of Iberian Peninsula (Al-Andalus) wasn't done only by Almoravids and Almohads, Kingdoms born in the Maghreb Region of Morocco/Argelia. The last Emirate to fall in Spain, the Emirate of Granada was ruled by Nasrids and those were Arabs. Or looked like Arabs. We could call them Moorish-Spanish 'cause most of them were born in Spain. Or Spanish, Andalusians or Al-Andalusians. They most definitely weren't Congolese. In the end of the day were always speaking of mix of Arabs, Amazighs/Berbers but also thousands of Persians and Syrians that the Ummayad Caliphate brought to North Africa in the 7th Century. I know that by the 8th Century when the occupation of the Iberian Peninsula started the Umayyad Caliphate was already in decline and being substituted by Fatimids or others in Arabia. In the end of the day even the Almoravids and Almohads were under the umbrella of the Sultans of Mecca. But it's all very confusing. I've seen a lot of videos and there were so many disputes inside the Islamic World in that Era that is hard to keep up. But i understand you don't like to be called "Arabs". We also don't use it in Portugal like a lot of USA Citizens call "Arabs" to anyone that looks slighty Arabic (whatever that means) independently if that person is from Morocco, Saudi Arabia or Lebanon. If Cristiano Ronaldo was a regular guy he'd be called Arab or Latino in USA. We speak of People by their Kingdom, Civilizations, Nationality, period! A Moroccan is not an Angolan, a Chinese is not an Indian, a Portugal is not a Swedish. So we avoid labels like African, Asian, European. We use it in terms of Geography not to refer to collective ethnicities or cultures 'cause that's plain nonsense. Morocco is also visited by thousands of Portuguese every year. I personally has an Architect love its Architecture.

Depending on the social structure, it is quite possible to have a segregated population based on religion and caste. @CanaryKin and @siminho10 Both of you are dead wrong. The muslim empire was centered around al-andalus and only with its decline did the center move to north africa. The first attempt was made by the almoravids who came from mauritania. They were succeeded by the almohads who were ruled by a family from Nedroma, an algerian city. Neither the almoravids nor the almohads were indigenous to the entity now called morocco. Both chose capitals in that entity for geopolitical reasons. As for the ethnicity of the Moors, they were Berbers. They were mostly brown-skinned people. They were in fact neither black nor white as some have made them to be. The europeans, in both art and literature, painted them as blacks in opposition to white europeans. The muslim armies also included blacks who converted to Islam. Slavery was an integral part of the Muslim empire and this very fact undermines the thesis that the moors were black-skinned people. As I have shown in a nutshell, this is the complex reality that the proponents of the opposite theses are unable of grasping.

This is not true!
Sorry to say it, but there's lack of details in the Muslim conquest of Spain in this video. This is obviously biased.

the Moors were NOT black SubSaharan africans, they were mostly BERBER; they came from Morroco, Lybia, Tunisia, Algeria....but they had THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of Sub Saharan SLAVES.....SECOND; the Moors DID NOT bring ANYTHING significant to the Iberian Peninsula, especially "Mathematics" and "Astronomy"....what they did bring was SLAVERY....DECAPITATIONS...CASTRATIONS....MISERY...OPRESSION....just like they do TODAY in their own Countries....the MOORS were NOT Sub Saharan africans, STOP playing stupid games and get REAL !!

@@selmaferdjioui5873 ....they were SLAVES !....in REAL LIFE, the Arabs and Muslims ENSLAVED....CASTRATED....DECAPITATED....EXPLORED black africans for THOUSANDS of years before any European set foot in Sub Sahara africa....some 15 MILLION of them to be exact for the duration of 1600 YEARS straight....History is a BITCH, hum?

The moors are the Amazigh people, the indigenous people of North Africa, we have our own gene pool. We ,the North African are NOT from Sub Sahara Africa. During Almohad and Almoravid dynasty, the Moors used the sub Saharan African to fight in Al Andalouse . Read the history before spreading wrong false history. Stop stealing other people's heritage. Ancient Egyptians, the Moors and the Carthaginian are North African. Moors are Moroccan of today, ancient Egyptians are the Egyptians of today, Carthaginian are the Tunisian of today. STOP SPREADING FALSE HISTORY.
