- We bring you a glimpse of our upcoming composition in Dhamar Taal - a distinct & cherished taal of the Hindustani classical music. We have curated some classic todas, tukdas & tihai in madhyam laya (medium tempo) variations and elaborations to enhance the beauty of the music, while maintaining its captivating and intricate form of Hindustani vocal music. It concludes with a delightful Upaj in Teentaal (16-beat rhythm cycle) drut laya (fast tempo).
Dhamar taal is a 14- beat rhythm cycle with a unique pattern of 5+2+3+4 beats. This unique rhythmic structure adds complexity to the musical composition and hence requires a deep understanding of the ragas, talas, and improvisational techniques. Dhamar taal belongs to the Dhrupad ang, the oldest form of Hindustani classical music.
