Why kosher salt? Is kosher a must? Or will regular simple salt spoil the food?
Any type of salt will work, but I've been using Kosher salt since I started sharing my recipes. Some say it's a bit saltier than regular salt, but I haven't noticed much of a difference.
Its all about shape is why
@@Maangchi Kosher salt is less salty than ordinary table salt, if you're using table salt you should halve the amount of salt.

I tried shabu-shabu more than 20 years ago in Korea and loved it so much. I attempted to replicate the recipe with no success. With the help of your video I will be able to cook this amazing dish for my family and share some nice memories from the time I lived in Korea. Many thanks for sharing your art of cooking with us. This was my favorite meal in Korea because it’s a full experience. You’re putting ingredients in and taking them out and adding the noodles, and then the porridge at the end. My favorite ingredients to include are slices of pumpkin/squash and straw mushrooms :)

아 이런 긴손잡이가달린 기구를 중국친구들이 사는집 이랑 중국가계 에서 많이 봤는데 여기에 쓰는건줄은 이제야 알았네요. 그레서 집집마다 있었군요.
저는 배지테리언이라 예전부터 야채스톡으로 해먹긴 했었는데 아이 들 낳고부터는 못해먹었네요. 두부, 유뷰 이외에도 두부껍질말린것같은것(정식명칭은 모르겠어요) 도 넣고 미역도 좀 넣고, 콩고기도 넣고... 망치님 채수 레시피로 언제 해봐야겠어요. 너무너무 맛있겠다.

My friend from Laos showed me hotpot for the first time around xmas 7 or so years ago. She invited me over and went “Idk what to cook” then set it up so we(Her, her bf, and me) all cooked for our selves with rice noodles and spicy sauce on the side. It’s my favorite way to eat with a group.

I have tried shabu-shabu in the Philippines. It's tasty, beef was well-done and soft. The soup was not spicy. It's different from korean's. Just my experience. I super love Filipino shabu-shabu. You must it maangchi and share it to your audience.

This is my kid’s absolute favorite meal…even in summer😂 May I also suggest using tofu, especially if you’re vegetarian. We like to finish the soup with rice, egg, green onion and the ponzu sauce we had for dipping. Love all your videos - I made your kimchi jiggae the other day 😋
