    The applications in armor might not be immediately apparent, but this seems like it could be interesting for prosthesis; natural limbs can heal a cut or even fracture over time, but a metal limb requires repair. This material as a casing could be interesting, since the goal there is to protect the mechanical bits inside.

So i thought the springs can be a part of the clothe like threads and a small current is passed through them when adjusting the fitting. Idk about the strength of the springs and other things that need to be considered but I just needed to get this idea out of my brain. Hopefully it was helpful.

    An interesting project you should try is essentially making a split hoverboard (one wheel at each foot) and making it fold behind your calf so you don't need to take it off when you want to walk inside. You would need to make the wheel small enough where it can go directly under your foot so there's no weird forces like that. I noticed that some of the bolts fell apart during testing. I wonder if it is possible to get screws and nuts made of the same alloy. One idea is also to put a layer of Nichrom wire on the inside so that the heating element is in the mask. A clever arrangement could prevent the wire from breaking on impact and would make the mask heal itself when you would put current through the wire.

    • @conorstewart2214
      @conorstewart2214 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      He already mentioned just running a current through the mask to heat it, no need for nichrome wire.

    • @Inventy_Inventions
      @Inventy_Inventions 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@conorstewart2214 I think that the current run directly through the mask might seem like a simpler solution but, there are practical challenge there. Nickel-titanium alloys typically have a lower electrical resistance compared to Nichrome. This means a significantly higher current would be needed to achieve the same heating effect, potentially making it impractical and unsafe due to the risks of electrical hazards. Nichrome, with its higher resistance, can achieve the heating effect more efficiently and safely at lower currents. Also, integrating Nichrome as an internal layer would give us more control over the heating distribution, so that the mask can be uniformly self-regenerated.
      But it is just an idea😀 I bet there is more ways of doing it.

    This is actually incredible. One thing you could do to make this even more of an ultimate Ironman armor set would be using thin carbon-fiber or ceramic "scales", which would not directly connect to each other, but to the nitonal. It would allow incredible resistance to bullets and prevent damage to the person inside, as it will spread out the force.
    The last thing I want to suggest is that if you go for making more armor or making this look nicer, a not-so-strong but very effective material for a self-healing project would be acrylic. Can be liquid at room temp and at a pretty solid range of temps, automatically binds to other acrylic, is self-leveling/smoothing, shiny, and will also bond to pretty much any flat surface with decent strength. It could either be kept in small vessels implanted around the suit, or a running vein system that flows throughout it, like your solution with the galleum prototype.

    The thing about making something like this out of Nitinol is that you really have to cast it so that it’s either one entire piece or cast the helmet and faceplate separately. That can be tricky depending on the alloy. You reached out to companies that make stuff out of Nitinol which makes sense, however the companies that actually produce the Nitinol alloy probably could have given you some information about the alloying process and how to cast with it

    Another amazing video showing how amazing science and engineering are, as someone who loves making things, your videos inspire me, it’s almost like you can make anything possible
    How about a motorized, retractable Iron Man gauntlet? You could design a wearable gauntlet with the ability to extend and retract, just like Iron Man's suit. Using small motors or pneumatics, you could create a mechanism for the gauntlet to open and close with the push of a button or a gesture sensor, providing a cool and interactive experience. Before activating it could be hidden up your sleeve, look like a watch or just a thick bracelet, you may even be able to fit a small laser diode to make an even more realistic or usable version

    • @Personwhosometimesdoesstuff
      @Personwhosometimesdoesstuff 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also, To create a motorized, retractable Iron Man gauntlet, you'd first design a blueprint or a 3D model of the gauntlet, considering the space needed for the retractable mechanism. You might use a combination of lightweight but sturdy materials like aluminum or carbon fiber for the main structure.
      For the retractable mechanism, small linear actuators or motors could work. These would be installed within the gauntlet, connected to the parts that need to extend or retract, such as the forearm or hand section. These motors would move the sections in and out smoothly when activated.
      Controlling the movement could be done through a microcontroller like an Arduino, which could respond to a button press, a gesture sensor, or a remote control. You'd need to program the microcontroller to coordinate the movement of the motors to ensure synchronous extension and retraction.
      Additionally, integrating LED lights for added visual effect and maybe even sound effects could enhance the overall Iron Man feel of the gauntlet. Wiring and power supply would also need consideration to ensure the whole system works seamlessly.
      This project would involve some mechanical design, electrical work, programming, and creativity to replicate the iconic Iron Man gauntlet's functionality.

    The gallium idea is actually really cool. The reverse of using nitinol. I'd like to see a combination of the two, like adding a heating element to the nitinol so if it gets dented, it goes back while you're still wearing it. Probably very impractical but it would be cooler than removing the armour and holding a torch to it
    (Or i guess using current like you showed with the mask closing, that would probably be safer just by adding a non conductive layer beneath.)
