Market Prep and Breakdown as a Crocheter - Dealing with Disappointment and Lessons Learned

- You put in all the work crocheting at every available moment. You tag everything, show up at the event, set up, and wait. The first sale comes quickly, leading you to believe that today will be a good day.
But it wasn't. In fact, you only made 4 sales.
Has this ever happened to you? It happened to me at my most recent market. It's disappointing, even if you have your expectations in a reasonable place. This was my worst market ever for sales, but I did learn some lessons. Also, there are a few good things that happened because of this event!
1. I don't have to remake any caterpillars! If you know, you know.
2. A lot of items are tagged already, meaning less tag-making in the future!
3. I learned my canopy isn't waterproof... (which is a good thing because I can fix it but a bad thing because I have to fix it)
While this event was disappointing and could have resulted in a better turnout, it just solidified my desire to continue doing festivals. And if you had a bad market, don't quit! You'll find something you like, I'm sure of it!
Have you had a bad market experience? I'd love to hear your story in the comments!

I haven’t crocheted since I was a young girl and now I scrapbook. Your items are adorable and I find I rather buy than make. Lol
I totally get it! Crocheting is definitely an expensive and time-consuming hobby! 🤭 Also, scrapbooking is a great hobby! 🥰
@@loopsandknotscrochet And I don’t need to start any extra hobbies that takes away from my memory keeping while I still have memory! Lol

@@loopsandknotscrochet 😊Thanks
What kind of yarn do you use? I use 100% acrylic and it is too "hairy".
I use 100% polyester for most of my items now. Sweet Snuggles Lite/Chenille Home Slim, Skinny Chenille, and Bernat Baby Velvet are my go-tos! 🫶🫶
what yarn do yuo use? your items are supper cute!!!
Thank you! I use a bunch of different brands but mainly Sweet Snuggles Lite/Chenille Home Slim from Michael's. 💕🫶
What patern did you use for the unicorn?
The unicorn is my own pattern! You can find her in my Ko-Fi and Ribblr shop (linked in the description). 🥰💕🫶
Where can I get the pattern for the sea turtle?
I freehanded it! I will be writing it up in the future, though. I just have a lot of patterns to get through first! 😅
Where did you have your tags done?
I designed them in Canva, then printed them myself on card stock. Then chopped them up and rounded the corners! It's a lot of work but cheaper than buying them pre-made. 🥰🥰
Sitting bee pattern plss❤❤❤
I linked it in the description for you! 🥰💕🫶
is there a pattern for the cow?
It's my own pattern! It's currently being tested and will be out on the 20th. 💕🥰🫶
@@loopsandknotscrochetokay! thank you, im gonna mark my calendar!
I have found small events are good for networking...
That's a good point! I didn't really think about that! 💕💕
Helpful information. I love the Turtles, Dinosaurs et cetera. I prefer not to crochet mythical Unicorns and Dragons due to my Christian beliefs.
Thank you! It's definitely not a requirement to make those. I don't make certain things, too! 🥰🥰
