Ever thought about making a video for "Best of the Meh"? Seems like the meh restaurants could be ranked for those with picky kiddos looking for a basic sit down spot with air conditioning. Might be fun to see which ones are the "Most Meh", and the "Best of the Meh" in terms of pricing, atmosphere, menu, etc.

I think the biggest issue with Nine Dragons is that they could try for something authentic or something fusion. Instead you get the same Chinese-American cuisine you can get anywhere. Not saying that Disney has to offer super-adventurous dishes. But put some basic dim sum dishes or hand pulled noodles on the menu, and maybe you'll start to get some traction among the park goers.

    • @dozer11
      @dozer11 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Agreed. It’s like they’re not even gonna take a chance that Disney World guests will like an authentic XLB or some fusion like you said. I will say that I don’t look forward to most food places in WDW compared to DLR though.

I wish I had Olive Garden quality when I went to Tony's Town Square, but my fettuccine Alfredo at Tony's was a solid mass, literally picked up the whole plate of pasta with one scoop (no spinning) of my fork!

Nine Dragons could pick up some love with a dim sum service. People come around with carts of different containers of small foods and you're charged based on the number of containers. Used to love dim sum lunches in Chinatown Los Angeles.

We ate at the Japanese restaurant years ago and one of the chefs (I think his name was Yoshi) got mad and quit right after our service! It wasn't the patrons that got him mad but evidently one of his bosses.

Bwahhaaa I’ve eaten at all of these! I used to argue for Tony’s…until I had Momma Melrose’s at Hollywood Studios (which also gets a bad rep 😂) earlier this year.
Nine Dragons. It was forgettable 😂 In it’s defense, that was 20 years ago, it may be different now 🤷🏻‍♀️
We *just* had Coral Reef, in December, for the first time. We enjoyed it; but we also viewed it as paying for the view and park. Also, it’s *much* better then the Red Lobsters I’ve been too (except maybe those biscuits…those are good!)
Planet Hollywood will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was a first date for my husband and me (granted, it was in London, England). But other then the nostalgia, it’s not good. 😂

I'd heard the horror stories about Nine Dragons, and yes, the complaints have been handed down father-and-son for twenty years, but it's one of the Epcot restaurants that have gotten a rehab in the 21st cty. Nowadays, the complaints are pretty much in the "We've got one at home!" category.

I loved Coral Reef...they had a really awesome steak which I enjoyed and especially the environment was super cool. Tony's was more "Meh..." to me than the others...but again, it was fun and we had a good time. Planet Hollywood is a really fun environment if you go with friends...we were singing, we were dancing...the burgers with the donkey sauce were really good in my opinion. I was still young enough to strictly order off kids menus when I was in Tony’s last, so I just remember eating a cheese pizza there in the 90s lol. Tony’s town Square wings back great memories of the Oscar Meyer house that preceded it. I always remember enjoying a wonderful breakfast at rope drop back in those days. When they switch to Tony’s it was a real let down. As far as Coral reef, I complain about the small menu, but the lobster bisque is definitely way above red lobster, as is the shrimp and grits. As far as nine dragons goes I remember some outstanding meals the first year or two it was open with much more authentic Chinese food back then. I won’t even dignify your comment on planet Hollywood when the best thing they have on their menu is chicken nuggets cold Cap’n Crunch lol.

We felt Mama Melrose’s in Hollywood Studios was below average. This park has some of the hardest dining reservations to get, as everyone knows. We tried for Sci-Fi Drive-In and 50’s Prime-Time 60 days from our park reservations at 05:59AM EST lol, no luck. Brown Derby wouldn’t have really worked because we’re vegetarians.
The food at Mama Melrose’s is like summer camp or hospital Italian-bland and over-cooked. The “Mama’s Italian Pasta” -that starts at $21 and goes up if you add protein-is capellini tossed with olive oil and diced, canned tomatoes. The Margherita pizza was like frozen California Pizza Kitchen. The portion sizes are a joke for the prices. The meat options may be more enjoyable, however I’d recommend avoiding the pasta.
If you can’t get a reservation anywhere else at Hollywood Studios, maybe end the day at a Disney Springs restaurant if that fits into your plans, or pack Uncrustables and Lunchables for your dinner- you’d get the same enjoyment as a meal at Mama Melrose’s and save a lot of money.

I disagree with the fact that #1 wasn't a Disney restaurant. If you want bad beyond bad I would've easily stuck Pizza Rizzo at the top spot.

While I don't think Planet Hollywood is great I don't think it should be on the list at all because I don't consider it to be a WDW restaurant. Its a chain restaurant at WDW.

Nine Dragons is not that bad. The best thing about Nine Dragons is that you can usually just walk up and get a table immediately without having to make reservations. This can be really convenient. It's also usually quiet at Nine Dragons. I guess it's unpopularity can sometimes be a benefit. Personally, I find the food to be just fine. I like their tea.

The only one that I can agree was bad was Tony’s as I’ve never eaten at any of the other places because there were better places to eat at.
Another one that I’d argue was really bad was Crystal Palace at Magic Kingdom. My family and I ate there a couple times over the years and it was SO BAD. It was so bland and tasteless and, as much as we love meeting characters, we REALLY didn’t like being interrupted constantly during our meal to stand up and take a picture.
Heck, one time when I was little I tried to say hi to Piglet and he just flat out ignored me! 😆😂🤣

We had planet Hollywood and enjoyed our choices , there are better places in Disney Springs but it’s not awful , Terralina Crafted Italian was worse to us .

My husband and I ate at Tony’s...the spinach artichoke “dip” had the consistency of soup, I didn’t finish my steak because it was completely flavorless, AND my husband had terrible heartburn & was burping up Tony’s sausage all night. NEVER again.

You don't always have to eat table service just because you can't get a table somewhere doesn't mean you should settle for bad food especially at Disney Springs!

The red bean ice cream at Nine Dragons is very good. I've learned not to knock an ice cream flavor until I've tried it. My daughter made avocado ice cream that had tequila in it. It was amazing. We like Nine Dragons probably because we like P.F. Changs.

I love Nine Dragons. It's my favorite restaurant in EPCOT. It's perfect for lunch, light but filling, and the hot and sour soup and crispy honey sesame chicken is amazingly good. I've made this at home, and it was not as good and an absolute pain to put together. Y'all go ahead and continue disliking it, It'll give me the chance to always eat there with no line and easy reservations. Don't care about the desserts, as I never eat them anyway.

Beaches and cream had interesting desserts and milk shakes but their food was meh my son hated their grilled cheese... not sure how you get that wrong. We got the kitchen sink which was awesome in its presentation but literally tasted like every flavor of icecream in disney smashed together.... not my fav but completely worth the experience.

I surmise that bottom 3 restaurants are all challenged to turn tables quickly while offering family-friendly dishes. Which translates to needing to serve the food quickly, so therefore I'm guessing much of the food is not "freshly prepared". Add to that the theme park pricing, and it's apparent why people end up disappointed. But still - the lack of effort to provide flavorful dishes for the captive audience at these restaurants is pretty insulting.

Quincy is right. We live about 10 mins from Epcot and we have no clue where to find good Chinese food here. That being said. The Sichuan Chicken dumplings in chili oil are soooooo good. It’s $13.00 but we love them.

Nine Dragons really needs to be redone from the ground up. What's there isn't appealing at all. I'm not surprised by what's #1, although I kind of took it for granted - I would never spend a meal at a chain restaurant while in Disney.

We enjoyed Planet Hollywood. Food was really good. And best kids menu we could find. Price was good also.
I would add Tusker house for dinner as the worst. Way to pricey and kids hated everything. All they ate was bread and we still got charged over 200 bucks!!! Never again.
    Another favorite is Satuli Canteen
