This was a VERY good topic. We are PROFESSIONALS and should conduct business as such. Our integrity as Barbers, has to be seen and should be reciprocated from our clients; otherwise that integrity suffers and word of mouth is a client killer as well as a client builder. Business is the foundation.
I don't take clients if they're more than 15mins late, and charge them a "no show" fee. If they have a problem with the fee, they can find another barber. If a client doesn't respect your time, they don't belong in your chair. I know guys who'll charge their clients full price for not showing up, time is money. Just make sure to inform your clients about the "no show" fee when they're booking their appointment.
I am getting ready to fire a client, so helpful, TY! This guy comes to me because no one has cut his hair to fit his hair texture, growth patterns, and head shape, however, he treats me like dirt. You come to grips with how hard we work to give each client a personal experience, and a cut designed just for them, and it’s time to “weed out the chaff”. I refuse to dread coming to work! It’s time that they respect us.
Ones your an educated license master barber, you can’t get fired or quit. It’s one of the perks of going thru the 1500 hours. You are your own Boss. A shop manager can ask you to leave, but all you gotta do is take your clippers and find nearest place. If you good, clients will follow and will keep searching for you
You got it goin on, David. Stand your ground, buddy. I've fired perhaps 8 people in the 37 yrs. I've been doing hair. Everyone knows that I like to stay on time and I have respect for other peoples time. I now have a rule. For every minute you're late on me, it's a dollar added to your service. For every minute I'm late on them, I minus a dollar from their service. I hardly ever have to pay them.
Been doing hair for over 30 years. I now won’t take appointments. I work only 4 hours a day nowadays. Let the new ones put up with that junk. You , from your videos are amazing. You are way too good to put of with these elitist ass hats. Know your worth man.
Thank you so much for this. I have been considering firing a client for the past year, but it has been really difficult for me to make that decision. I'm finally going to cut their hair today and will be letting them know they need to find someone else. Thank you again.
I believe a lot of barbers should do the same because I have fired barbers for not being on time, which could have been because of a customer not being on time before me, so I agree with you and I am with you. Great video
On point!👍 Very well said David... you expressed yourself as a professional Barber💈that you are. I love your vids and have learned many techniques from you and slowly but surely, I will master in the near future. Thank you for taking the time to post your awesome vid tutorials. I certainly do appreciate them all. Have a blessed day🙌🙏👍
In the last year I cant count how many clients I fired. If youre being booked weeks in advance then you need to clean house often. If on the other hand your clients are all great and youre still super booked then raise prices.
Hello Mr. David. I am a novice barber and I have a hard time using hair-dryer and a hairstyle. Please teach me how to use it . I tried it but I failed .
Excellent topic man, I m a barber i give the client a kin and professional service but some they don't appreciate it and they just make my day horrible. I simply say sorry I m not the right barber for u u should find someonelse to cut u. The problem is the guys I work with they said u not allowed to fire a client for any reason u will will be hungry tomorrow but for me I prefer the quality not the quantity I dont want that kind of client who whenever I cut him my day is destroyed and affect the rest of the other clients.
Wow, I never see anything like this online. I had someone let me line up one side and then tell me don't touch the other side because he had recently been pushed back. I thought OK the customer is always right. Then he gets home and his friend said why he didn't do the other side. He tried to fix it himself and butchered it. I fixed it for him and he was drunk this time, so I learned my lesson.
I think you should just finish your appointments on time. If they come 10 minutes late then just give a 20 minute haircut lol. Kick em off the chair if the haircut is finished or not. They won't come late again 😅😅
Great to hear the negative side of being a barber...you are absolutely right david...please make more videos like this..thx

Exactly
Good for you! You are 100% right. Firing a problematic client simply makes room for a better client.

Hey Steve and thank you for sharing. That’s a really cool rule and I’m sure it works wonders hahaha

Very true. Thank you, to take the time. 😀👍💟 time is very important, for every single person.

Why was it you felt that way? What did he or she do?
I believe a lot of barbers should do the same because I have fired barbers for not being on time, which could have been because of a customer not being on time before me, so I agree with you and I am with you. Great video
Thank you for your insight Please do a video if you’ve ever had to ask a client to leave if they were intoxicated or inappropriate in anyway.
That’s a great suggestion. Thank you!!!!

Great discussion. Sensitive topic, but it's reality.

I have fired a few at no regrets and more gains.
If you are a great barber, we Dont struggle with disrespect.

This is so true is really annoying cutting people who are always late and make you push back the other client that is on time 🙌🏽👍🏽
Yeah bro and we need to change that. Clients need to understand that we are professionals
