  • Firing THAT salon client (without any stress!) // when is the right time to fire a client if you are a professional hairstylist and anxious entrepreneur?
    In today’s video I’m gonna show you when and how to fire a client from your business, even if it makes your super anxious. Knowing that firing a client professionally and politely is a delicate dance for even the most professional hairstylists. Many hairstylists and entrepreneurs are unsure and scared and end up keeping clients they resent in their business. These hairdresser tips for firing clients are a game-changer. You will learn how to fire even the most difficult clients with kindness and compassion. Even how to fire a client via email. You are allowed to terminate clients. You don’t deserve angry clients, difficult clients.

    I recently had a client who either no showed me or cancelled last minute about 6 times... (I now have a cancellation policy in place) but I sent her a very well thought out message where I recommended one of the walk in salons in town telling her it might work better with her schedule, and she did not take that well 😂 blasted me all over social media. But I know I did nothing wrong by setting boundaries in my salon and I was as nice and understanding as possible. We can control how we handle a situation but not how other will react. And that’s okay. At least we don’t have to worry about if she’ll show up to her appointment anymore!

    14 years in the industry and I needed this so much. Even happy clients text me to re-book and I always induce anxiety thinking they are going to complain and it stresses me out to the point I’ve wanted to get out from behind the chair.

    I love this advice. I found Your analogy of jumping out of a plane to be true. I have fired clients in the past and it feels really good.

    I do like the step about emailing instead of texts. Great solution

    This was so valuable, thankyou. Have a client of 20 years that saps the life out of me! She's the only downside of my clientele. I'm going to practise role play with my husband and then give it to her starlight. But kindly! 🙏💖

    I'm so glad I found this video. Step 3 is what I need to do with this client that is not understanding that crossing boundaries consistently is not okay. There's SO much I can relate to in this entire video and I know I just need to do it. There's 100 things I've literally racked my brain over and I truly think the only way that client will get it is by being blunt.

    • @LimeLady1010
      @LimeLady1010 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      To add to this..... I know of 6 other salons and suite owners that have "put their foot down" and verbalized their policies and yet the client KEEPS repeating the same behaviors. It's almost as if saying I'm "fully booked" or ghosting this client is the ONLY option other than being so blunt - you'd risk your reputation for this client to GET IT. This client has literally been harassing beauticians, makes excuses, always wants to barter the price, tries to trade, reschedules last minute, over stays their welcome, takes phone calls with the blow dryer on, is late for a short appointments and could do this service at home. Yet this client - is a small business owner. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

    They will still talk shit about you to their next stylist and to their friends....people don't like rejection...especially passive aggressive people.

    Hi 👋. I had jist started in a new salon, it was my 2nd wk in there and my first client of the day walked in, she was booked for a CBD, on the consultation in which we didn't even reach the seat. She produced a pic, in which I'm happy to look at pics it shows me exactly what they are looking for. So it was a long bob and wavy. So we headed over to the basin and she said she only wanted dry cut 🤷‍♀️. So I did explain that her hair will not look like that unless I wash it. Still wanted a dry cut. So.i went ahead startn cutting, she had washed and straightened her hair the night b4.....so it was really flat. Her hair was also over texturised and thinned out to much. So when it came to cutting the length there were no sides if u get me!? She was adement on me thinning it out more and texturising it more, I tried to explain that it wasn't a good idea, that she should really grow her sides down etc. You know one of those clients that everyone starts looking at coz they can hear and see she is being difficult and just isn't understanding what I'm saying.....or just doesnt want to listen n thinks u have a magic wond up my arse. I got to the end and she started flopping her hair abt then grabbed the front sections and said it doesn't look any diff n its still flat into my head....yeah go figure 🙄 you've not had it washed and blow dried I did explain this in nice way.....all I got was a screwed up face and scrambbling through her phn to find the pic again just to tell me.....I mean it doesn't even look like this! Again I said yeah the girl in that pic has had a CBD and you haven't....she said her font layers don't look like the pic n I said yeah she has had it curled, so no ur front doesn't look that ur right......I offered to curl it n she said no..........I was already stressed and wanted her out....as there was no pleasing her at all!! Anyway she called complained, I offered her money bk again tried to explain she just wouldn't listen....in her words I want my hair FIXED! in my head I'm like fuck no....im not going through this again....for the sake of 15quid....n it was a dry cut. I apologised and said there wete no apps in which there wasn't...it was Xmas and after a lockdown here so we were mobbed....she was incredibly rude shouting down the phn at me then hung up.....and like you I didn't know what else to say to her to make her happy. I felt like a failure and really embarrassed and it ruined my day and I couldn't sleep all night. What is it with these kind of people....I've just gotten to a place where I'm just not going to entertain clients this anymore, I work for myself and I chose not to its not worth it! I've been a hairdresser for over 20yrs, and clients like this really make u question is it all worth it! She was a arsehollllllllle lol 😆
