    I’d have to agree with your assessment. As long as the expectations are in check, this is a fun walking around way to shoot some film. The filter is a fun little twist people can experiment with. And the bulb mode is also a nice addition so that you can make some long exposures (and/or shoot the same roll of Ektar on a sunny day and also at night). So a good review I think!

    Not sure I'm in love with that star filter, some of those shots almost just looked like the lens was smeared lol. I really love the one you got at the end at 7:51, maybe it just works best with more focused light sources?? Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always, this is a super useful vid (especially for beginners)

    • @theoldcameraguy
      @theoldcameraguy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, but “star filter” sounds better than “smear filter” haha. I think you’re right - with a focused light source, it comes out more appealing.

    I just may eventually get one of these when I get back on my feet. The bells and whistles are what does it for me. I don't know if it is your developing method but those colors are very surreal at times. And it seems you never have a loss of finding things to photogrpah. There seems to be alot going on by you.

    Hi. I liked the night shots they seem more balanced. I'm thinking on a bright day even with 100 iso the day shots had a strong blue overcast. Perhaps using a smaller iso like 50. Would that be better? Shame they didn't allow a filter ring on there to add filters like an ND I don't think it would have cost much more to add it? Thanks Matt

    • @theoldcameraguy
      @theoldcameraguy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah man, I was definitely happier with the night shots. Daytime shots were a little overexposed and color was a bit wonky. Lower speed film probably would be better on sunny days.

    I don't want to shoot important pictures of my holly days with family. The risc of fail is to high. It thing you get better results with a point and shoot of the 90th and early 00th. I hope that some companies produce half frame cameras with autofocus and measuring. Like the Yashica Samurai series. But is there a big enough market for it? A photo trader in my city told me that he gets inquiries about point and shoot cameras every day. Especially from young people.

    The fairground pictures look horribly overexposed. According to the sunny-16 rule, for 100 ISO film you need 1/100 s @ f/16 exposure, and I believe the aperture is fixed f/8, but it seems to be over by more. Maybe the shutter is a bit lazy; it would be worth checking. A neutral-density filter would be more useful than the star filter. Maybe you can improvise something. Excellent video!
