I goofed on the math for Drifloon. Before damage modifiers, its damage output caps out at 180 damage. Certainly better and it will get you some one-hit KOs on low HP multi-prizers like Lumineon and Squawkabilly, but definitely gonna need an HO modifier for most muti-prizers.
Thank you for the kind words! 🙏 I’m grateful for where the channel is at and will continue to put in the work so that the channel can continue moving onwards and upwards.
I just picked it up for around 30$ at gamestop and with a few extra cards from some bulk, and adding in a jirachi, manaphy, a cape, and a tm makes this deck a lot better and for really cheap too.
Just stared playing with my son about a month ago with the battle academy I got him for christmas. I just picked up this deck today and will be looking for the League Battle Miraidon ex deck for him as that seems to be what he likes. I wish a Pikachu deck was viable. Love your vids best I have found about Pokemon. And thanks for the help PS. as you can seen we are really new players.
Welcome to the Pokemon TCG community! Pikachu generally is reserved for beginner decks, and thus generally isn’t good. But Flying Pikachu was a force during these last few years, including a world championship win. th-cam.com/video/tY2T-ovJBJc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=CIdDZaDftKFnVES9 I hope your son has a blast with Miraidon regardless! I like Miraidon so much that it was my deck at my first ever regionals last year.
I just picked up the Gardevoir EX league deck from gamestop and luckily i had a bunch of bulk I recently got for super cheap and I found quite a few good staple cards in there to add to the deck. Only problem I have is having not a lot of basic pokemon to pick from. No jirachi, or manaphy at the moment. I went with putting a 3rd copy of drifloon in my deck. Definitely the first 2 upgrades I will be adding is a jirachi and manaphy at least. That tm card and cape will probably be added as well. Really with those 4 cards and maybe another big like Gallade with Buddy catch (although I have a lot of ways to search supporter cards) makes this deck a lot better. I personally have been enjoying professors research. I find it to be a good way to thin the deck since you can just use a bunch of your cards and then pitch like 2-3 cards and get 7 back. Also a great way to find your energy too. Its bad with a bunch of 1 ofs, but I find powering out your gardevoir turn 2 using a rare candy, to be able to boost a drifloon early can be crucial. Especially with buddy catch being able to search research for you each turn. Only reason I like it over Iono is because you could potentially fix your opponents hand as well, where research does neg you at least a few cards but helps you only.
At 12:37 you're talking about Damage Pump - does it really allow me to raise up the damage cap so a Drifloon with Bravery Charm can one-shot a Charizard? Does it not just move 2 damage counters without changing the cap, potentially knocking out the Drifloon?
You can move just 1 damage counter off of Drifloon onto another Pokemon with Damage Pump, as the wording is “up to 2” but not explicitly 2. By doing so, you can then push Drifloon’s damage to a maximum of 110 instead of 100, allowing Drifloon then to swing for 330 instead of 300.
From my experience, this deck can put up a decent fight with everything in the format. Lugia seems to be the best one since it's relatively easy to keep up. Charizard and Chien Pao can be 50/50. Really depends on how fast Pidgeot or Baxcalibur comes out. Watch out for Turbo Iron Hands and Lost Zone. Both can easily wipe your board with Iron Hands or Cramorant, and Giratina could drop a surprise Star Requiem.
Scream Tail can snipe out the Archeops and Baxcalibur, though it’s more backbreaking to Lugia to snipe Archeops. Lost Box is much better if you have Flutter Mane in the deck to stop Comfey. In my personal paper build, I have Flutter Mane in there instead of Mew ex, but I wanted to keep Mew in there for those who just bought the deck and want to use one if the coolest and best cards they just bought. Other builds squeeze in Klefki too. Deck space is really tight for Gardevoir and everyone is gonna have to make some tough calls on what to keep.
I love the deck and bought it on launch. The list is great but i think ill cut the earthern vessels a tm evo a arven or two and lux cape for at least 2 damage pump some more energy and more bravery charms cause with this you can still hit OHKO's without giving up 2 prizes but i could be wrong. I'll also try to fit an extra turo or some switch for snorlax
20:50 i think using Hero's cape to 1HitKO was definitely better... Use the town store to grab the Hero's cape... Just bench Dri and switch it active... Throw a million energy at him and take the 2 prizes for 1
Recently I've been playing a gallade in tandem with some diverse supporters. Once you have a gallde in play and after using a palpad, it honestly feels like you have your entire deck at your disposal. Especially if you play cyphermaniac taking advantage of your many draw 2 abilities. Just remember, there's nothing worse than drawing though all your one off supporters on turn one when you only needed them for the late game (which I only play about 3 to 4 of). For sone reason my most recent games with this deck has been like that lol.
@@InThirdPersonwould love to see some match ups with the alternate cards u listed..I’ve purchased this deck and all the cards you’ve added plus the alternate cards and would love to see your take on them all
The next League Battle Deck won’t be out for another 7 months and we don’t even know for certain if it will be Charizard. If you don’t want to wait that long, Gardevoir is the best pre-constructed deck option out right now.
This is a great set to get started with. The trainers you get with it and some of the Pokemon (Mew, Greninja, Lumineon) can be useful tools in most decks.
would be nice to know what you removed form the deck too, like seing the one syou added ar enice but finding out what ou removed is a whole new problem
The problem with Ancient Booster Capsule is that it only works on Scream Tail. It can be difficult enough to find any HP modifiers at times, let alone a specific modifier that only works for one of your Pokemon. By all means feel free to try it out and see if it works for you, but I think the fact that Ancient Booster only works on Scream Tail is going to hurt consistency more than you’ll gain from 40 additional damage.
So overall, do you recommend this deck? I'm thinking of branching out of Meowscarada now and getting closer to meta. The Dragapult deck is something I'm looking forward to as I think it'll suit my play style but I have a feeling some of it might be hard to get when it gets popular. Also my skill level is still in progress 😀 so I'm looking for something competent but also manageable.
Gardevoir is the best pre-constructed deck you can get right now and it’s been surprisingly strong in major events, including a top 4 finish at Orlando Regionals, which had over 2,500 players. Japan already is in the next format with Twilight Masquerade cards and it’s still proving successful. The thing to note is that Gardevoir can be a tricky deck to play. It can be tricky to set up and it’s inherently slow. It’s probably on par with Meowscarada for setup time, but certainly has a higher ceiling, as Gardevoir is a more versatile deck offensively with single prize attackers that can hit harder or snipe the bench. I admittedly didn’t like the deck for a months before it really clicked with me. It wasn’t until I really focused on learning it before I “got it”. If you’re up for the challenge, definitely go for it! And besides me, there are tons of TH-cam videos online covering Gardevoir because it’s popular (and good)!
@@InThirdPerson I don't mind a bit of learning curve - I hated Meowscarada first 😅 then I loved it and then I plateaued hard recently. I'm not sure whether it's just me or the match-ups (I came across a lot of unusual decks on tcgl lately that kind of put me on a bad streak). In any case, maybe simply getting a new deck isn't the answer, but I'm also feeling like I should start playing a wider variety and something with a bit of staying power had more appeal to me. These videos are super useful to get a feel for the decks 🙌 Now I just wish rods and earthen vessels weren't so hard to get in the uk atm 😢
I love Meowscarada too, but having played both since they each launched, Gardevoir has always had the higher competitive ceiling. Whether you love or hate the play style, I’m fairly certain you’ll win more games in the long run.
Before going into comparisons, it’s worth noting that the Mew VMAX League Battle Deck is no longer Standard legal. You can’t use it at organized in-person events, nor can you use the deck for ranked mode on Pokemon TCG Live. If either of those are important to you, then Mew VMAX shouldn’t be up for consideration. Mew VMAX as an archetype will go down in history as one of (if not, the) greatest deck of all-time. It was considerably stronger than any of the deck when it launched, and even through multiple rotations and Pokemon printing numerous counter cards, Mew VMAX stayed near the top for its entire lifespan. It’s my personal all-time fave deck! It set up really quickly, drew a billion cards, and could be adapted to help it win almost any matchup. The Mew League Battle Deck was a solid foundation for that archetype. It was only 16 cards off from the top 8 Mew deck at the 2022 world championships and 22 cards off from the Mew deck that won the 2023 world championships. However, the deck was missing 2 Genesect V, 2 Mew V, and 1 Mew VMAX, which notably gimped the deck out if the box. With upgrades though, absolutely goated deck. Gardevoir was (and kind of still is) an incredibly strong archetype. In 2023, Gardevoir was a top-tier deck the whole time and was “thisclose” to beating Mew to win worlds. Had this League Battle Deck come up during Gardevoir’s peak, people would be overjoyed! Releasing Gardevoir now is…a bit weird. It isn’t as strong now when fully upgraded. However, a Gardevoir deck did just get top 4 at the largest regionals ever recently (2,500+ players in Orlando), so maybe the falloff isn’t as bad as we thought. I certainly think it’s weaker than before, but when fully upgraded, has the potential to win at the highest level. It’s just harder to do so now than before. To Gardevoir’s credit, the League Battle Deck plays great out of the box! I’d say it’s missing roughly the same amount of cards Mew was in order to fully upgrade it. However, the cards you do get make for a stronger foundation. The high price of Buddy Buddy Poffin will be annoying for upgrading Gardevoir in the immediate term, but I’m certain it will come down to a fair price sooner rather than later. Both strong decks for their times. One with a bit higher of a competitive ceiling (Mew). One a bit more complete out of the box (Gardevoir). In terms of playability, I’d say Mew has a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling. It’s easy to set up, draw a billion cards, and smack the active repeatedly. But there’s a lot of nuance with Genesect in terms of managing what resources to get rid of in order to draw more cards. Gardevoir is a harder deck to play. It relies on a stage 2 evolution, which can be difficult to set up. It also requires you to dump a bunch of energy in the discard pile in order to get rolling. But with practice, Gardevoir can beat just about anything.
