Let's just be honest here that the whole reason vergilius were even going down the basement is nothing more than the wild hunt reminds him too much with what happened in leviathan (THE Lowest moment in his entire life) and it's triggered him so much he can't stomach the hunts existing for even 3 seconds, so yeah while he somewhat indirectly helping the crew he was just down there to blown up some real pent up steams lol
Well he already realized that his urges got better on him so he'd know full well the consequences of breaching parts of the contract so at that point the moment he's pulling out his E.G.O it's clearly sinks or swims no matter what (he made bodied-ing elfking heathcliff's wild hunt onslaughts personal wherever its to help the gang or not so wasn't really going to matter to him anyway)
it's almost incomplete without the cacophony of STAGGERED AND SHATTERED ID'S going off constantly.
