Me too, bro...my mother passed away, ten years ago, and it made me choke up, just reading my "baby book", from 1978...of course, we know who won the Super Bowl in 1978...some of the things, that my parents wrote, were Steelers clothes for their new addition to their family...I thank God, every single day, that I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania...God Bless, Mom, Dad, the Family, and the Steeler Nation!!!
I grew up with the steelers of the 70's . Central PA born and raised. I will always look back with pride and get teary eyed thinking about that time in my life and what that team meant to me and all of our family , friends and Steeler nation!
Hey Bro, great comment. One of the reasons the Steelers were so great in the 70s is bacause of the level of competition they had to face. Dallas, Oakland, Minnesota, Miami, Houston. Especially Dallas.
My God, that made me cry too! Once a STEELER fan ALWAYS a STEELER fan. Pittsburgh truly is the city of champions - the BEST owners in the world & the BEST fans in the world!
I was ! I am 56 in May, saw all those now classic games on TV every Sunday and Monday night !! It truly was A FABULOUS time to be young !! I loved " The Vikes " ( Heartbreak Hotel " every season from 1969-2009 ) .....The 76' Steelers should have won their 5th SB in 6 seasons ( both Franco & Rocky were out vs. Oakland in the AFC Championship game loss 24-7 in The Coliseum , I WAS THERE ! .....* GREAT Memories
Some of the greatest to ever play the game (and one of the greatest to ever coach it). I don't think there will ever be a team as super as the 1970s Steelers!
my heroes, first game with dad, 1960 Pitt and Forbes field, then 3 Rivers, my whole life has been PS,proud and humbled by the Rooney's, and after thy retired my friend Dwight White made me a friens of the all, God bless his memory.
Chuck Noll created the greatest ball team in franchise history but is rarely mentioned along side Lombardi, Laundry and Shula!! Chuck Noll was as good if not better than these coaches but did it in a quieter way. The steeler of the 70's made huge plays but rarely gave one up because they were so good at the basic fundamentals of the game. What a great team they were!
I challenge any team in the NFL and their fans to top this 5 minute video that proves once and for all ,that the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970's were the best of ALL TIME.
I really miss these guys, the times, and Pittsburgh. Going back for visits with my kids and grandchildren is a treat and great memories of my wonderful hometown and younger life. My best to the Steelers 2011. California loves you.
Just finished "Their Life's Work" by Gary Pomerantz. An engaging and fascinating look at the 70's Steelers then and now. A must read for any who love The Black and Gold
Bill Walsh called the 70s Steelers the greatest collection of talent in NFL HISTORY .If we view NFL FILMS tOP 100 PLAYERS EVER ! ITS LITERALLY ALL STEELERS OF THE 70S
This video is AMAZING! What an awesome tribute to the Steel Curtain of the 70's. Brings back so many memories of watching Steeler football with my dad as a kid. Thanks so much for this post.
I live in philly I get so much shit for loving the steelers, my dad brainwashed me a steelers fan and i thank him everyday for it. the steelers will reign as the NFL's greatest team forever. Lets get 7 baby!!!!
What music is this in the beginning of the film???? I LOVE IT!!!! Here we go Steelers, here we go. God, I miss watching them. Stuck here in Afghanistan, going on my 6th year here, between Iraq, and here. 32 Tough Ass Marines, battle tested and would do anything to defend our country. Raise a Toast to us, and know where we sleep nightly, hoping to come home safe and sound. God Bless you all, and long live the Marine Corps, and our Beloved Pittsburgh Steelers!!!! Get number 7 for us!!!!
Fantastic video! I'm from Dublin, Ireland and as a big NFL fan, I'm proud of what Art Rooney did with the Steelers. What a team, what a legacy...What an underrated coach in Chuck Knoll! Why is he not celebrated more? Talked of in the same breath as Walsh, Belachick, Parcells etc? Love Franco Harris's speech at the end, "Building a Steeler wing to the Hall of Fame". And I'm not even a Steeler fan! But I have huge respect for them and their great fans.
I love every fn sec of every word said here. I'm from the town w the great football team! Never bn never will be any better than 1970 super Steelers! #polka## lambertslunitics#dobresnunka#thearmy#maddogfatsarrowhead# gorrilas#blondebomber#themporer!!!!
I am a 30+ years Cowboys Fan, and this less than 5 minute video made the skin in my arms and in my neck go berserk and even though that might sound bad for some 'Boys fans, truth is that anyone who is first a football fan, can appreciate prime quality football level anywhere, anytime, from any age and savor it.
The Steelers are the greatest team of any sport.I grew up watching these guys and wishing I was on the field with them.I hope L.C. Greenwood, the late great Dwight White, and Donnie Shell go to the HOF soon.THE STEELERS RULE.
I went to see Swann and Webster, so I know exactly what you felt...fans in Canton grabbed me to shake the hand of a proud Swannie jersey-wearer, and we talked and talked and talked. We were the loudest, proudest, most number of fans there, and to be close to the graceful one was super for me. Webster's was just as nice, and he was inducted with Don Shula, who's fans numbered just like ours. Nice to know and see you as a fan, at any age!!
My wife and I met Franco in San Diego about 5 years ago. Jr. Seau has a charity event every year and invites various former and present players, and they charge fans to come and mingle and just chill with them. Franco was being mobbed by fans, and I told Franco that I was from Mckees Rocks, and he stopped talking to everyone, put his arm around me and my wife and we talked for like 40 mins. The only reason I mention this is that he is just that kind of guy, just good.
I know nobody cares but I was at that terry bradshaw induction but you will never see me because I was on the top of the stadium watching it along with a lot of other people that had the same idea very nice trip
The greatest team of all time....I was just a kid when these guys played...I was fortunate enough to see them at three rivers stadium....There will NEVER be a dynasty like this in football again...
the pittsburgh steelers. The greatest team in the greatest football city in the whole history of the world. enough said. think about this: nearly half of the 22 players on the Super Bowl teams from the 1970s are in the hall of fame. a home grown dynasty, no free agents. this is absolutely beyond imagination.
Amigo ese bato murió olvidado por ustedes. Fue ídolo y nadie lo auxilió cuando se le diagnostico cte. Asi que no hay nada honorable en este filme. Solo carne de cañon para darle opio al pueblo
My coach asked me in elementary school. "who do you wanna be on my field?" my answer "JACK LAMBERT!" he said "every time that center delivers that ball, you ARE Jack Lambert!" I played my heart out every Friday night. And every Friday night all the way through high school in my mind my number 58 btw was sewn to a black and gold jersey and I was JACK LAMBERT for 60 minutes. I love you Jack thank you for the memories. GO STEELERS!!!!!!
Too cool. The emotions just came rushing back. I went to the induction of John Stallworth. I traveled from Florida to make it there. I was very young when I became a Steelers fan. Easily the best decision I've ever made in my life.
I am NOT a fan...but they should have won it in 1976 too ! BOTH #32 & #20 RB ....Were out vs The Raiders ....that D' Had 6 shutouts the last 9 reg season games ! Jack Lambert said That team in 76' was their best ever ! They would have won 5 in 6 seasons !! When the NFL REALLY played the game HARD !!
@kjonesman Those words were so moving from you that I felt more than compelled to respond. Thank You for that again, and I look forward to reuniting with my family who I will feel almost a stranger when returning home. I will see my daughters and wife, and hopefully they will love me after all this time. May you know that you made a Marine's Day more then you will Ever know/........ Being Honest, tears are flooding my keyboard right now. Thank you so much, sincerely Thank You!!!!

I know he struggled with his speech, but would loved to have seen highlights of Mike Webster's enshrinement. He gave it all to the Steeler's and to the fans. God Bless Mike Webster.
Man what happened to us as an organization. My dad used to tell me stories of meeting Joe, Franco, Swann, and Blount. The energy the team possessed. Now look at us. Losing our best players left and right, playing down to our competition, and getting caught up in the media. I’ll bleed black and gold till the day I die, but god help this team.
The best of them 70's Steelers is they played real Hard nose hard hitting football. Its not like today's game you can hit QBs high/low. You can't touch their helmet. You can't even touch the receiver past 5yards.

@gogettajay69 I totally agree with you on both statements. 14 years for Swannie to get in the HOF? And why isn't LC in the HOF? Must be political BS in the HOF selection process.
The Steelers of the 70s were a class act. It was great to have grown up the the Pittsburgh area in 70's and have been able to experience that.
1979 was the year !! Pitt Pirates WS Champs too !! " We Are Family "

My favorite time of my childhood was watching this Steelers team play!! Legendary!!!

I don't think there will ever be a team as super as the 1970s Steelers!
@3:04 with that music and Terry says " Art Rooney " and points up to the sky, very touching !
Steelers in the 70's--best ever! Those sur were the days. So many have been passed over for the HOF, what a shame.
my heroes, first game with dad, 1960 Pitt and Forbes field, then 3 Rivers, my whole life has been PS,proud and humbled by the Rooney's, and after thy retired my friend Dwight White made me a friens of the all, God bless his memory.
Damn... I'm not even a Steelers fan but this made me misty eyed!
The Pittsburgh Steelers are without any doubt the best Football team that has ever stepped on the field!!
I'm a Steeler fan for life!!!
Donnie Shell should be in the Hall of Fame as well in my opinion, he was a hard-hitting tenacious defensive back that was went to pro bowls.
Yes indeed ! #31 !
He made it!!
NkrumahTure he just got elected
Saw his live call from the Chairman of the HOF. Sniff
On his way 2020 bout time

He wasn't as good as Paul Brown coach of the Cleveland Browns. Brown was the best coach the NFL ever had!
His name should be on the Super Bowl trophy.
I challenge any team in the NFL and their fans to top this 5 minute video that proves once and for all ,that the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970's were the best of ALL TIME.

For me this list will never be complete without the induction of L.C Greenwood. He really deserved to be honoured with these guys.
Absolutely agree...So sorry it will posthumously.
How fortunate we all were to watch the greatest team in NFL history. Always a team with dignity and class.

Wow...
@havingfun1968 Thank You for all you do. Be Safe, God Bless and Go Steelers. Semper Fi
I know he struggled with his speech, but would loved to have seen highlights of Mike Webster's enshrinement. He gave it all to the Steeler's and to the fans. God Bless Mike Webster.

there is nothing like the heros from your childhood...nothing.
@ zereoue i know exactly what you mean it make,s me cry too. from a life long Steelers fan from over the pond in england Steelers for ever !!!!
Man what happened to us as an organization. My dad used to tell me stories of meeting Joe, Franco, Swann, and Blount. The energy the team possessed. Now look at us. The best of them 70's Steelers is they played real Hard nose hard hitting football. Its not like today's game you can hit QBs high/low. You can't touch their helmet. You can't even touch the receiver past 5yards.
Frontline's television special about Mike Webster and CTE brought me here.
Here we Go Steelers Here we Go
I absolutely agree with what you said!
Forever black and gold
Rip Franco we will miss you
You Sir Rock! I know how you feel to a lesser extent. I am from Pittsburgh, but currently live in San Diego. I get shit all of the time, but they are much softer than people from Philly, so not exactly the same. But I feel you.
God bless you,Chuck Noll.
@kjonesman Funny, I felt the same way about the Raiders. I hated the Raiders, but there was always a small part of me that wanted to be part of that toughness, and sometime called the criminals of the league, the soul patrol. I would have liked that for us Steelers, and there was no better rivalry. If it wasn't for the Raiders, the Steelers would not be considered the best team ever. Those games were epic, and live on. But God I do LOVE Kenny Stabler... How is he NOT in the Hall??????
here we go steelers here we go
I tell ya what - I challenge any Steelers fan who grew up with this team like I did not to watch this without crying your eyes out - great memories for me. Thank you Steelers - I love you guys.
We didn’t know we were building a CTE group of chronic brain damaged men. These are warriors that have it all, paid the price with their lives. National Heroes
Lynn Swann`s speech was the best!
I will be making a pilgrimage to Canton when #36 is inducted in a couple of years....:D
HERE WE GO STEELERS HERE WE GO!!!
the greatest
i cried when i saw this
the problem with L.C. Greenwood, and Donnie Shell, and even Rocky Bleier is that they played for the 70's Steelers. It just isnt fair.
R.I.P.Mr.Rooney.
As a Steeler fan I hope that Jerome Bettis goes to the HOF.
I am 56 in May, I HATED Pittsburgh !!! ( I saw that decade , LIVED it you youngster's !!)... However I respect GREATNESS and All these men WERE THE SHIT !! They would have DOMINATED ANY ERA !!
Goose Bumps baby!
Back when this franchise was classy and legendary and isn't a fucking joke like it is today. Today's modern-day Cowboys where every player is a thug or drama queen
checking in from Baltimore here - hmmmm - looking around all I see in this vid is a bunch of queens.
Terry a great NFL player and Hall of Famer. That's all. The defense won knows games and the Superbowl. All defense
When is Andy Russell and Mike Wagner going to the Hall of Fame?
Solid D? It was the greatest defensive unit ever assembled in the history of organized football. Ask Don Shula - I have heard him say that.
and that makes an even 1000 views for me....
Just started reading "League of Denial", Webster's speech is not here...
They always forget Ham#59
I never was much of a steelers fan, but I have to admit that 70s team was the best ever. Where's L.C. Greenwood?
Pittsburgh Steelers defense won those games for the Steelers. Quarterbacks should wear dresses.
@crucialconflict02 will do man will do
@gogettajay69
I totally agree with you on both statements. 14 years for Swannie to get in the HOF? And why isn't LC in the HOF? Must be political BS in the HOF selection process.
The catches he made were borderline stupid. It was amazing it took as long as it did.
