  • I just got in some new PCIe 4 risers geni.us/PCIe4_... for a good value and wanted to test them out to see if they could hold connection under load. I have bought a few prior and they have had issues like reverting to PCIe 3. Check it out if you are looking to get quad GPUs or maybe you just need to relocate a card.

    Thanks for this. I'm looking into this tech because I'm trying to extend the operating size of my pcie x1 slot, as it is the only one with enough space to support my GPU in my SFF pc.

    Does anyone know if gen 4 risers work with gen 3 motherboards?

    Can you share the plotting speed changes after using the riser, please?

      @DigitalSpaceport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unchanged plotting speed changes with 2 3090 GPUs. Still hitting 56s same as if plugged into the mobo directly. I will however be able to attach 4 here to 1 mobo and get some times. In garage working on that right now!

    What is the software that is running 1:51. I see he's running power shell. Do I need to install a command line tool or is this tool already available within windows?

      This is nvtop, a CLI tool, running in Ubuntu Linux. I've not used it in windows, but a Google search shows a packaged version for windows that might work out for you.

      @@DigitalSpaceport Thank you so much for getting back to me. I recently bought a gen 4 thermal take riser cable. For my new GPU. Everything seems to work fine so far. But I wanted to verify those stats you showed in the video. Looks like you have some other interesting videos on homelab. Consider me subscribed.

    I have I think a Lian Li 4.0 riser in my gaming rig. Never had any issues with it. Works great. Just FYI.

      It was rather expensive. Got it off Newegg for something like $70.

      Hi! Do you mind sharing what model is your motherboard? I bought a O11D vertical mount kit and I'm having issues using gen4. (it's advertised as gen4 compatible)

      The riser in the video is my recommendation and it should work for you geni.us/PCIe4_Riser

    Which tool are you using to measure temperature?

    • @DigitalSpaceport
      @DigitalSpaceport  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is this thermal Imager geni.us/Mke_Infrared_Imager I am borrowing from a friend, but the price has gone sky high and I didnt realize I am now addicted to this so I am thinking of getting one of the FLIR plug in phone models for myself. This thing is serious fun!

    Thoughts on the new Zenbleed security breach for zen 2 or lower ryzen? Wanted to get a eypc 7742 but now I'm not so sure.

      If you have a server sitting on the edge of a network, facing the WAN, then this is a concern until it is patched. This is similar to the kinds of sideband speculative vectors we have seen used on Intel chips since Spectre and Meltdown. I am not concerned with this myself.
