Absolutely terrific recipe. Foolproof. I made it with a few variations to my tastes: * Added one chopped carrot - adds color and sweetness * 3 Cloves garlic instead of 1 - I like garlic * 1.5 tsp salt instead of 1 - I felt like this recipe needed a bit more salt to offset the sweetness of the carrot * The juice of 3/4 of a fresh lemon - I am going to squeeze the lemon garnish into the soup anyway, might as well add it to the pot
Bon appetit:) I love this recipe cause there also plenty of room for creativity to make it to your liking:) I also like adding potatoes to it and sometime curry spice! But I also like to have the original one cause it’s very simple and warm to the soul at the same time:)
I made this for my Iraqi husband and he absolutely loved it! Wooo hooo!! Thank you so much. Lol now I can cook because of you! El hamdillah! Bless you!!!

Ramadan Kareem and Mubarak for you and your family. May Allah accepts all your prayers and deeds in this blessed month. And thank you very much for this comment. It makes me very happy 😃 alhamdulliah for everything 🙏
I wait for Ramadan to come to eat this delicious lebanese soup every day...yes..love it specially that am on an intermittent fasting diet since 3 years..I like it with more garlic and a sweet potato for consistency...yummy !!
Looks mighty delicious. This is very similar to the Turkish version. Only difference is I've never seen anyone use ginger and personally instead of using a blender I prefer filtering the mixture. That technique gave me the best results.
Truly is the best adas soup I have ever had. No doubts!!!! Thank you soo much for sharing this. Made it for my father and he said it’s the best as well🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Actually, thank you for this beautiful comment that just made my day😃 so happy to read that you and your family have enjoyed it☺️ it is the little things in life that take up the biggest place in our hearts like eating with family 😃
Thank you for this wonderful and easy recipe! I am Mexican and my husband is Afghan. We LOVE this soup so much. I decided to give it a shot and try and make it and I followed your recipe and it’s incredible❤️
Definitely an excellent recipe, for although as Lebanese we hardly use ginger in this soup or our cuisine in general, it did add a nice twist to it & a healthy one at that. Tnx for sharing!
I looove this soup. Never cared much for lentil soup but after I tried it at my local Middle Eastern restaurant, I fell in love with this dish! The spices, lemon and sumac. It’s sooo tasty and satisfying. Thanks for posting.
Lentil soup is my favorite comfort food of all times! I promise that this version will taste even better than the restaurant one😊 it is also very quick to make! please let me know how you find it:) also, thank YOU for your kind comment, it made my day!
I know this is a year late but lentil soup usually doesn’t have lemon in it which makes me think your confusing this with haleem? Which is made of lentils and shredded meat looks similar to this
@@shaysakhi3045 I don’t know where you’re from but I think the Indian subcontinent since Haleem is from there, but no in the Arab world lemon is almost necessary to serve alongside lentil soup.
YUM!Thank you for sharing this with us;can't wait to make a pot of it,just need the ginger root and I think I can locate some wild sumac berries..maybe not though-since we're just finishing Winter and the wild birds had to eat,too...great finish!
Madam Nour, my family and I are indebted to you for providing such a delicious and nutritious meal for us! Whenever I set out to make something totally new for us, I make it a point to follow the recipe 100%; this way, I taste what you, the recipe-giver, intends the dish to be like. After partaking of the dish, assuming a positive reaction to the preparation and the final taste, I will plan to add or change or omit this or that step or ingredient, in order to bring it closer to our own idiosyncracies. Yesterday, when I first came across your video, the only ingredient I was missing was The Onion! And believe it or not, here in NYC in the midst of the accursed coronavirus pandemic, it took me 24 hours to find that onion. Today I made the soup. OMG what a wonderful trip! I made it exactly as you teach. This soup is absolutely perfect! Nothing to change next time. At the table, everyone squeezed more Lemon Juice and added some extra virgin Olive Oil to their bowl. أختي نور ، أنا في الجنة.
This makes me so happy:)) I am so glad I have been part of such a warm family time. It is my pleasure and I am honored. May you always share with your family good food and happy moments🙏
Thank you for sharing this amazing recipe! I was looking for a meat free protein alternative and found this! Family of 5 loved it and they told me I should cook it often and that’s what I plan on doing ! 😃💛
Thanks for such a great recipe! I made it today for iftaar and it was so delicious that we all went for seconds. The only additions I made were a carrot, some black pepper and vegetable stock.
Wow, it's so simple and absolutely delicious, I've also add some red pepper :) Thank a lot for the recipe! I've managed to cook almost the same soup as I tasted at Middle East from the first try
This has a huge history behind. This is called Daal in India and that’s the origin country where this recipe came from, since India was a 100% pure vegetarian country long long time back, then arrived afghans and Persians from the Middle East and it traveled with them back to their country when the British arrived and they pushed back Afghans and all other outsiders from India forever, same happened with the Tea ☕️ the Brit’s took tea culture from India and in return they parted the nation into 2 countries India and Pakistan
Thanks and what I like is you don't add tomato or chili which seems to be the add ingredients to everything. I like the idea of Sumac for that Lemony taste.
Beautiful recipe, I love lentils so much, I fell in love after I spent time in India. I have a question, I have some za'atar spice, how can I use this in my cooking?
Your lentil soup is the best coming from me a Palestinian chick. I love how simple,, easy & vegan the recipe is. Can’t thank you enough. I replaced fresh ginger with powdered ginger. One fresh ginger equaled fourth tea spoon powdered ginger. Thank you.
Mix za'atar with olive oil and use it as a spread on flat bread. Toast it up and serve with lebni (condensed yogurt, you can find at Arabic stores) or plain yogurt. You can also serve with tomatoes, cucumbers, mint, olives, onions, and/or feta (or whatever else you can think of) Makes for a delicious and easy breakfast.
so many years later and this recipe is still on my meal rotation, its easy and delicious!
