I was also surprised to see audiobook as a category for the same reasons you mentioned! I felt really good this year about things being in the correct category, I normally feel like they put at least one historical fiction in mystery/thriller and so glad to see that didn’t happen this year. 😊
CONGRATULATIONS ON THE BABY!!!!! HAPPY EVERYTHING WENT WELL 💕💕💕💕 I'm horrible at reading popular books yet I love seeing the Goodreads choice nominees lol
Congratulations Jordyn to you and your family. This is my first year being a Goodreads member and voting. Because of you I now have my bookcases half filled ready to begin my second year of reading. Next year I should be able to vote in BOTM's nominees. Looking forward to your video on that. Thank you for taking time to make a video. very appreciated!
@ I’m agree about the audiobook category btw. I mean I pretty much listen to all books via audiobook but unless they do something super special I don’t really remember enough about them to vote for them.
Audiobooks are a great addition to be more inclusive for people who can only have the option to listen. I listened to Somewhere Beyond The Sea, and it was the best audiobook I have ever listened to. I wanted to listen to it again immediately after finishing it. I hope more people pick the books they've actually listened to and not just a book they read and enjoyed.
Completely agree with that, I am extremely pro-audiobook! I think I heard someone mention that the nominees for that category came from Audible reviews, so I think all 20 of those can be taken as audio recommendations which is great! Unfortunately there’s no great way to monitor the voting process, but I’m with you and am all for the inclusivity it promotes!
My favorite debut was Victim. It's satire (which is subtle and I repeatedly had to remind myself to keep in mind as I was reading). It's an interesting book!
Oh interesting! That one has a very cool cover. I’ll have to look into more of the debut books’ synopses to see which ones I hadn’t heard of sound interesting to me!
I just finished the Rom-Commers and I thought it was really cute. I didn’t love the third act situation, but I did like the ending! I’ve definitely read more nominees in the romance category than any other genre this year. I don’t think I can say, “I’m not really a romance reader” anymore. 😆😂 I’ve been converted.
Hahaha I feel the exact same way. I used to say I’m not a romance reader either, but I think I’ve gotten to know which type of romance I enjoy the most! So that’s fun to have a genre opened up with possibilities!
Simone St. James is in horror? I like her work. I do not like horror. Her books don’t scare me. I gave Murder Road 4 stars. It kept me on the edge of my seat, but not out of fear. Great topic Jordyn, thank you.
Yeah I agree her books aren’t the scariest, but I think the paranormal elements are what push it into the horror category. Definitely lots of overlap between mystery/thriller/horror though!
I think once winners are announced I’ll read the winner in some of the categories. I’m almost positive The Women will win historical fiction, and I would be happy to read that!!
Oh my gosh congratulations!! 🎉 so glad everything went well.
Thank you Laura!!
I love these videos too! Excited to see more predictions, reading vlogs, etc!
Yay!! Such a fun time of year!!!
Looking forward to more award related videos from you 🤗 I really want to try and read more from these lists!
Thank you!! Yess it’s so fun to read based on what shows up 👏

That is great to hear! Thank you Elizabeth! 💛💛
Shocked you haven’t seen Blue Sisters around!
Yeah looking at reviews and stuff I’m not sure how I haven’t! But the cover doesn’t even look familiar to me!
I was shocked that Kill For Me Kill For You wasn’t nominated! I haven’t read it yet but I feel like I’ve heard so many people talk about it
Yeah that is surprising to me too! I didn’t love that one, but sooo many people did.
Yay bestie I am so happy you were able to make this video happen!
Me too!! Good to feel somewhat normal again for a little bit!! 💛💛

Congratulations on the new addition!!!
Thank you!! 💛💛
Congratulations!! So glad everything went well. Great video!
Thank you!! 💛
Congratulations!
Thank you!!
I was so surprised to not see She’s not sorry by Mary Kubica in Mystery/Thriller. It had higher ratings than Society of Lies that was on the list.
Ohh true! Mary Kubica is usually a staple, and society of lies feels very random. Strange!

I loved We Used To Live Here and I’m so happy it was in both the Horror and Debut Novel categories!
I’ve heard so many good things! I’m hoping it wins one of those categories!
I’ve read 8 in mystery/thriller and I do have a few of the others on my list to read at some point.❤
Nice!! I hope you enjoy them!

I definitely use the Goodreads sci-fi nominees to inform my sci-fi TBR! I think I had the most read and/or TBR in nonfiction this year.
Have you read Nuclear War? It’s in nonfiction but has a sci fi vibe and I’m reading it right now!
@@SorryBookedSolidno! but i should start it because if coreading a book won’t get me going i’m not sure what will…
🎉❤ Yayyy
💛💛
Congrats on baby #3!!
Thank you!!
Don't worry, I did listen to the audiobook of The Women and it was great.
Julia Whelan is an elite narrator 🙌

Yess that’s a great idea! (Especially if the women wins! 😏😏)
Girl We Used to Live Here is HORROR horror, not mystery thriller! Just FYI! It's one of the scariest books I've read in a while
Oh really! Hahah good to know 😅😅😅
@@SorryBookedSolid It's so good though!!
If Frieda wins again…. 😅
Hahahaha I fear it’s inevitable…. But we’ll see!
