    I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole, just like anything apple, darktable gives as much if not more control and it's free!

      Very true. I left LR for darktable 4 years ago.

      I'm a professional photographer who relies on my software being fast and reliable. LR does that for me. I look at the issues list for Darktable on github (github.com/darktable-org/darktable/issues) and there is no way that I could rely on it to do my job.

      @@edinburghphotographyworkshop I understand that, You have to have the speed & you can afford the subscription, I'm a pensioner & it's just to much for me. many things are subscription now, I have had to cancel the majority of my subscriptions since I retired. Would you like to include me on your subscription? I'd give it a go then! LOL

      @@edinburghphotographyworkshop The "issue list" for an open source software like darktable is "open", so public. And yes, such an issue list creates unnecessary FUD (fear incertainty and doubt) for some who use other photo editors. I myself have only experienced a problem on one photo in 2021 (sometimes crashes when enlarging to 100%) that was fixed in the next version. But rest assured that there is an internal issue list for LR at Adobe. Something like that is part of a "quality process", where every complaint is registered with the intention of finding a structural solution for it.
      The point is that you can try darktable as long as you want, because it is free. That is also how it started with darktable for me after I decided to try another photo editor before choosing the subscription for LR (I came from LR 5.7.1).
      But I fully understand that you can be more productive with LR because you master it better. That is important if you are a professional photographer. (I am only an amateur/hobbyist.)

    Great help and advice! Just got the email and saw 50% increase. Just before I decided on the bundle deal Adobe offered me 3 months free. Hopefully the Amazon deal will still be available. Or can I pay for it now and use the code for a later date? 15 months for £77.

      @@srydigital007 the deals through Amazon add 12 months into your existing contract. Mine is paid up to 2029 at the moment!

    Thank you. Do you know if the price increase is global? i am South African and there is no option in my account to change to another plan I have not received any notification that there is an imminent price increase?

    • @edinburghphotographyworkshop
      @edinburghphotographyworkshop  6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I do believe it is global and Adobe will be sending out notifications to those people affected by the change closer to 15 January when it takes effect. The full blog is available at blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2024/12/15/all-new-photography-innovations-pricing-updates#photography-and-lightroom-plan-updates. To change your plan, you need to log onto the Adobe account screen at account.adobe.com/plans and then take the option Manage Plan below the Photography Plan icon and you'll see the option to switch. I hope that helps.

      @ thank you, for many the change plan does not give the option we have to chat to somebody who does it manually. Found that out after asking😀

    Is it new subscribers, or new subscriptions including renewals of monthly plans? If renewals, then the payments would be the same converting to annual payments. It would then enable Adobe to increase those annual payments ib the future, whist maintaining the cashflow advantage secured at this price review. Sadly that is typical of almost all big companies as with those smaller products but keeping the same price. Companies believe they can con most customers with price rises hidden by product variations.

    • @edinburghphotographyworkshop
      @edinburghphotographyworkshop  5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes, it is just new subscribers. Renewals will automatically increase to £14.99. Agree it is a boost to cashflow and front ends payments. I think they may regret the new subscribers being removed, as it's easier to pay one month rather than pay a lum sum in one go.

    great advice and thanks for the heads up about the bundle deal! Personally won't be installing Macafee but worth it for saving me £50 on the annual subscription

    With all due respect, maybe you should start stating that this information pertains to UK customers only.

      I'm afraid it's not just UK customers - here's the link to the Adobe blog which sets out the dollar pricing blog.adobe.com/en/publish/2024/12/15/all-new-photography-innovations-pricing-updates
