Filmed on board Les Hanois Lighthouse in 1994 when I made the wave washed Lighthouse video. This is Barry Bloy, Assistant Keeper of the Hanois Lighthouse.
I'm thoroughly enjoying your lighthouse videos, a fascinating insight in to a vital job, which modern technologies have consigned to history. As a child of about 5, (in 1970) I can remember winding the clockwork (assisting , as it was a large handle for a 5 yr old!) to raise the weights in St. Mary's lighthouse in Whitley Bay. I visited Souter Point with the school in the 1980's, and have had both my now grown up sons to these lights! Your videos brought back memories big these visits, and I have quite an admiration for you and your colleagues when tending the remote rock lights offshore. You should have these videos made in to a TV documentary, I'm sure it would be very popular!

Hi Peter, it was nice to see Barry again through your film. I served a couple of months with him on Longships when I was traveling around on the Pool during my last three years of service. He was a nice chap to be on station with.
Yes Neil he was great to be with on the Hanois . Both Barry and Robbie allowed me to follow them around with my video camera and produce a nice bit of History. Cheers Mate and take care.
@@PeterHalil Your right about Robbie also, I did a couple of months on the Hanois myself with Robbie, and the PK at the time was Brian Harris. It was a most enjoyable 2 months. This again was when I was on the Pool. I flew down from Gatwick to Guernsey for the two consecutive reliefs.
Hi Chris, he meant the living quarters as about two thirds of the place was demolished. So they left the lighthouse and an attached much smaller building when I filmed in the 1990's.

Another great video, thanks Barry and Peter. I Believe Barry would have been in very last batch of keepers Trinity House ever recruited, as I think Trinity House did not recruit keepers after 1979, Please correct if wrong Peter. Thank you.
@@PeterHalilPeter, working on a little project you might enjoy when its finished, namely a scale model of Hanois lighthouse dated to the time of your video, will message you with an update when it's a bit further along.
Avery Aish mentioned by Barry was the last full time keeper I believe, he joined 03.11.1980. During the period of redundancies some sons of serving keepers were taken on, Barry mentions one in the video, Nathan Arnold who I believe joined 1/10/1989.
Hi, I've no idea where Barry is since leaving the Lighthouses, I don't know if he is alive and if he has even seen his interview video, it would be nice to know, stay safe

At about 9:30 he mentions Hartland Point, and it’s been demolished - but I know from a visit that there’s still a light there. What’s the story?
