Just got this game yesterday. I’m excited to start playing. I have been watching tips and tricks videos before I start playing. I’ve seen that we can make trenches and “earth walls”. I was wondering since we can make trenches, are we able to make moats?? Can I make a trench from a large water source and connect it to bring in water to surround a building or a village??? That would be epic.
For now the terraforming is still very rudimentary, so making a big trench or wall would be extremely tedious. That said, they will improve on that system and I'm sure we'll see better options throughout Early Access. Regarding a moat - for now no, you actually can't terraform close to water (the sea) and there are no bigger lakes or rivers (yet). It's still early days, I'm sure there's more to come.
Yes thank you for explaining the red eye icon! lol I'm having trouble with defenses, villagers want a safer home but I can't find any structures that add defense. So far this game is so much fun, really loving it.
Thank you! For the defence, you need to build Barracks and assign Villagers to train there. Then you need to build Patrol Markers where you want your Guards to patrol (ideally covering the Village area). This will provide safety! We'll be working on more guides soon!
It definitely is! Just don't expect a typical survival game, but rather a town management game with survival elements. It's kinda challenging, but addictive! And thank you!
Great tips thank you! Excited for this game for sure. My only question is, about the workshop assigning. I assigned a worker to it but wasn’t sure how to keep him employed with tasks. So I just did the crafting myself
Thank you! The Tasks should be in the same Workshop menu, once you have assigned a Villager you can create Tasks there. For example, create 5 Stone Axes, 5 Stone Picks, etc. - the Villager will then create these items and add them to the Workshop inventory. Once, e.g. 1 tool is taken by you or another Villager, the Villager will craft tools again until the assigned number is fulfilled.
@@Pixelcave well explained! I got it now, thank you. Glad I came across your acct. Will sub, and wish you many more. Looking fwd to the Aska content . Few more days till release! 👍🏼👍🏼 lol
Oh, thank you so much for the support. And glad this helped. Yes, we're planning on doing more guides for Early Access, if there are any topics you would find interesting, always happy for suggestions/feedback!
Good Video! Maybe you could show on a later video how you can make autmated roads and build foundation roads on an even and higher level with villagers.
If you start off near a beach, it makes it of course easier to have a Fishermen Hut later on, and you're also closer to Reeds which give Thatch, a much needed building resource for Cottages etc. And there are no ponds inland, at least not yet. However, for the early game, Gatherers and Hunters are a lot easier to manage and should be able to provide enough food. The tricky thing with a Fishermen Hut is that it requires some logistics, as Cooks won't pick up the fish from there, they need to be brought to a Warehouse, which might require a Marketplace in some circumstances. I would say that it's probably better to get some Farms up and running for food. In short, being close to a beach has its advantages, but it's not really a necessity - at least not until they add other islands and make boat travel necessary.
@Pixelcave Awesome. Great answer and explanation. I have a small start near a beach but tonight I am going to start again and move inland. Thank you very much.
No, you can place the flag anywhere on the map and where you think the Villagers will find the respective resources. It's always good to have multiple of those (over time), so they have alternatives where they can look.
NEVER break down thatch into fiber. That shit is worth more then gem encrusted Gold, Also dont let your villagers harvest it as anything over the storage cap they will break down.
Fair point. Since this is based on pre EA content, we might have not had the bigger picture in terms of Thatch and the scarcity (although with it respawning, we didn't have too much issues yet). Since they adjusted Fiber yield per Flux Bush now, hopefully this won't be a big issue anymore. And I suspect most would use Bark anyway.
got a beginner question... how can i send NPC to a Patrol ? I placed some Patrol Flags but cant found a option to connect to NPCs 🤷♂️ 1 Hour later... oookay i find it out... Its done at the Barracks ... 👍🏼
Do the villagers have offspring? Pair up villagers to make super-woodcutters or some such, then sacrifice the weakest adult when you die. 😹 Also, could villagers be assigned to finish the roads? Seems (rightly) quite the task. Also, I hope they redo the hair. It's rough....
I believe the devs have said there are no plans for children (would be cool if we could create a lineage of amazing Perks though!). Regarding roads, you can assign your Villagers to flatten the terrain, but for now you'll have to make the actual roads yourself. I'm sure we'll see a lot more customization options over the course of Early Access - at least I hope so. 😀
Well, in theory you have endless replayability as you can always start a new map/village - and you will do that a few times as you learn the ropes and understand the game. There's also no fixed end goal, but you can set these yourself of course, like surviving a Winter, or surviving the second Winter with Invasions... or simply having all buildings with all upgrades, etc. To give you an idea in terms of "time". 1 in-game year has 4 seasons, each season is 7 days long and 1 in-game day is roughly 24 real life minutes long. So if you would play 1 flawless year (which will never happen at the start), you will have over 10 hours alone. How many years you play - or how long you survive is down to you.
When an iron tool breaks, you'll get the iron part in your inventory, then you simply recraft the tool with that part - in other words, you only need the wood/rope etc. to "repair", but never the metal anymore.
BRO THE BARK INTO FIBER BLEW MY MIND

Is it best to start off near the beach for fishing or is there enough food inland (early game). Are there ponds inland to fish from as well?

7:00 does the flags radius need to overlap with its respective pit?

Yet the voice and the intonation could have been different...
