I remember my parents rented a brown orange one in early 80’s, 4 door, vinyl seats. They praised the mpg. I remember hearing “Eyes without a Face” on the radio.
Always wonderful content! My uncle Otto went from hulking Oldsmobiles to a copper/brown Tercel sedan with a manual trans, and *loved it.* Thanks for posting!
@TeeroyHammermill it would probably never rust if salt never touched it, or extremely well taken care of. But at the end of the day, people bought these cars to use without worrying and caring about them too much, so they rusted out because of that. If a detailer owned one of these it would probably be the most rust-free tercel ever because they know how to get the salt out of the nooks and crannies.

Tony recommends a rust bucket.

1991 ish
Had a 80 base model and an 81 sr5 loved both
Loved my 1st new car 1980 Tercel SR5 Black. Lost it in a divorce, and the ex-wife smashed the side in.
Doesn't SR5 mean it has a five-speed gearbox?
Does a review on a Toyota Tercel, has a Subaru instrument panel in the background.
