- Hermès is popular for having the most prestigious and high-end bags in the world. Topping the list is the Birkin and the Kelly bags, and it's so SO difficult getting your hands on one!
So I am "writing" this letter to Hermès sharing my love for the brand, and hoping that they'll watch it and send me one! Ok- maybe not send me one, but at least maybe when I walk into Hermès in London next time I'm there, they'll have one available!
Anyway, watch the video to see why this really really frustrates me!

Clients begging them for a "bag" are the reason of encouraging this abuse. STOP buying from these fools. I guarantee you: you WILL survive without a Kelly!!!
It's really pathetic for non-white women to beg these white people to sell their stupid handbag...If all non-white women stop buying from them, they will feel the pinch. But these stupid girls are so obsessed with these bags they will throw away their dignity for one.
As an update to my old comment, I suspect Hermes will become more accessible in the near future. Some girls are already sharing their surprise at receiving bags easily. Well Hermes is losing sales because they are very dependent on the Chinese market. Maybe Chinese ladies generally don't tolerate being ignored and waiting forever? Especially since the best duplicates are also made by Chinese people. Visit any finance websites and see for yourself, LMVH is not doing great, and hasn't been for some months. I personally would bide my time until they start to sell the bags more freely, when they are more desperate for sales. We are entering a long economic recession, and if demand for Hemes continues to fall, we may see some surprising changes. Remember that other luxury brands have fallen and become ordinary too. If Hermes doesn't fix their culture of elitism and rudeness at this critical point, they will continue to lose money.
the people that work there act stush and dont even make enough on thier meager salary to even buy the bag ..thats really the sad part I have no desire to buy Hermes ..they company rich already they dont need my money
I don't like Hermes' business practices. The whole point of luxury is getting phenomenal customer service and buying a product that's supposed to make your life easier. If you're getting stared down as if you stole something then it's not a luxury experience. I've also heard that Hermes SA's have closed their doors in people's faces like some Chanel SA's do. I think it's kind of demeaning to stand in line like in grade school for a product they may not sell to you in the end. I don't think it's worth being deceived. Second hand may not be ideal but it sure beats a rude and deceptive SA.
If everyone can get it then it will no longer retain its value. Hermes is what it is because of this system they have. Hermes SA's will be more rude if you have the bag but are not on the system to have been offered one - they won't even want to repair it for you.
Molly Amber Supply and demand is different. I know there are a few people making the bag. However, this is no excuse for Hermes SA's to be blatantly disrespectful to potential customers.
Hermes in Atlanta is always friendly, even when you don't spend much.
If everyone could buy a Birkin online from Hermes, there would be little resale value
She knows they're playing a psychological trick on her, but still, she falls for it. So it's well deserved. Anyway, this "luxury blogger" lost me at "Michael Kors". If she was actually interested in quality and beauty, she would probably get a Prada Saffiano. But I guess that's not a status-symbol enough since Italians only make the best quality products in fashion, but fail to humiliate their customers.
Very true!! I will never beg a brand to sell me! I have my money I will go to any other store am sure I'll find something I like!! Better be an expert in Psychology to know how to get what you want without the hassle! I wouldn't discuss with the SA's at all after they say they don't have it I'll leave! It's two words I'll play mysterious too! The more you talk the more they know! She is def not smart! She is weak to still want to buy from them! I love Chanel bags but if I get treated bad at their store it may be the end of it! I have no tolerance for being treated inappreciatively! We helped those brands do this because we are weak to their merchandise!
Sonal, I understand that you want this bag, but don't support stores that don't want your business. It's not worth it. The hell with Hermès

Always wanted a Kelly bag too, way before this huge hype around the brand started. But I'm not willing to play their game. They have the worst customer service in the world, and as a customer I refuse to be belittled. By the way; I find most of their designs quite dated and unfashionable.

Same with Burberry. I used to want a bag from them but the SA are always so rude! And tbh their clothes and bags are very outdated. Now I notice that mainly middle-aged to really old Chinese people wear it (they speak Mandarin so.....) 🤷🏻♀️

I've been to Hermès in Frankfurt and Munich, and each time they were not rude, exactly, but "coldly polite". Then I've also been to the Hermès store in Nice and the service couldn't have been nicer, it felt very welcoming. But it's definitely an open secret by now that they will (with few exceptions) only sell you a Birkin or Kelly IF you've already bought some of their other items over a period of time, and even then it's not guaranteed to take less than a year until you get your bag. But sometimes you get "lucky" and they'll have a bag someone else ordered but didn't buy or returned.
Honestly, I find it too annoying, I don't need to be made to feel like I have to work and beg to get one of the handbags from their store. And to top it all off, there are by now so many re-sellers on Vestiaire Collective and so on (all valued Hermès customers who easily get the good stuff, obviously) who just order bags so they can immediately sell them for a few thousand more than what they paid. It's a racket either way.

Bravo, many people are discussing this issue with Hermes. I for one feel very spiritual and moved by people's action. If I get treated this way as a human being trying to purchase a leather bag I rather not have it. It would offend me and yes you can keep your bag. We are the ones allowing this to happen. I swear to you I am not interested in owning a Hermes bag under these SHAMEFUL CONDITION.. I would not feel proud at all to carry this bag, on the contrary I would feel very sad to see how humans are reacting to one another.There are a lot of other designers lux bags whose effort and quality are put into and are not being merited. .

I've found the best way to get a Hermes bag directly from the store is to develop a rapport with a particular Hermes store and if possible a particular associate at the store. That way the associate knows you a bit and is willing to actively help you search for your desired bag or better still find a personal shopper who specializes in luxury shopping to help you track down one.The Hermes in Geneva is my go to store and they always deliver.

May I know which Hermes do you go? How much money you have to spend there before offer you a birkin or kelly?
Michele Lam I usually go to the Hermes in Geneva. Start off by buying small items like scarfs, belts, bracelets etc and build a rapport with the SA's at the store. That should get the bag of your choice .

When I see the lines outside Hermes (which is no longer the system by the way)I can't help but feel baffled as to why anyone would succumb to such humiliating marketing. I have a few Hermes pieces (gifted and never asked for) and I honestly don't think their items are as good as they're made out to be. Any brand where prejudice and unfair marketing is used is a huge NO in my book. I find it difficult to wear my LV bags sometimes because I feel torn between supporting overpriced brands and actually liking the bag itself. Hermes is just another level of marketing that I myself would not want to be sucked into, even if it is for investment. Just remember you're paying for a brand that was socially constructed to be luxurious. Unless the bag is covered in diamonds and other precious metals the price is just there for the hunt.

Actually, their stuff looks plain, outdated, sometimes even ugly... the deal with Hermes is, that when you buy something so exclusive, available only to the select few, you feel like part of the elite. This is exactly why they make them so hard to get. For example, you can get LV if you have money, no problem.... but money doesn't mean you'll get your Birkin. Getting one means that, not only you're above the common folk, but you're also above typical rich people. I honestly feel very sorry for those women who post videos on youtube of themselves happily unboxing their Hermes handbags. Those videos are basically screaming ''look at me! I succeeded in life!'' There is not enough Hermes in the world to assure them of their intrinsic worth.

So I don't ever comment on videos but I thought I'd share my story to help assuage some myths. I am a black petite (very young looking) 22 year old and, while I can dress up, I usually go shopping in jeans and sneakers. I went to the Hermes on Sloane St recently and left with an SA contact and my name on a few waitlists. I could have made a purchase but they weren't the right colourways/sizes. I dressed in a vintage tee that has been cut off into a crop top, mom jeans and reebok trainers. I had just come from Harrods and Liberty earlier that morning so I did have some shopping bags with me but they were very small and I honestly don't think they made a difference. While I may not have been after a Birkin or Kelly, I was treated exceptionally well and allowed to try on anything and everything I wanted. She even took an exotic B35 out of the locked glass case so that I could have a cheeky peek! They were quick to serve me even before I started speaking/sought an SA out but I do think it helped that I was obviously quite knowledgable about the brand and was talking through products and leathers with them. This is a stark contrast from how I was treated when I visited the Bond St store with my (WASPish) friend and we WERE dressed up as we'd been to brunch. I'd honestly just recommend that you try a different branch (again, I recommend Sloane St) and just be your lovely confident self and show your genuine appreciation for the brand. I also witnessed a woman buy a kelly and I don't believe she had a prior contact.

I stare right back !! lol 🤣🤣🤣 and I walk up to the SA and ask for what I want , when they look at me funny I start to cuss in French and then I get service with a smile ! So crazy 🤣🤣🤣🤣 but I'm unbothered ....not in a hurry for their bags , just wanted accessories 🥂and I get them all !

I have owned and sold some Birkins (gifted to me by my now ex husband that has a great relationship with them), and the hype and demand is crazy. It seems that the more attitude Hermes gives, the more people want the bags.
I will say that I am quite hard on my handbags, and the Birkins were the one bag that stood up to everyday wear and never showed the signs of abuse other high end bags did.

Hi, feel for you. I walked into Hermes Rome and was offerred a Kelly which I purchased. They did know SD in Harrods and Bond St( your video clip store) that I purchase through. Now have a special order which hopefully arrives soon. Don't normally show these but may start up soon. Good luck though, will happpen soon👍

This isn't a controversial video. This is you, pouting because you can't have something that you really, really want. Personally, I find is hilarious that Hermes has people jumping through hoops to buy one of their bags. Create desire, exclusivity and as you said mystery and it makes people (crazy people) want something even more. I hope you get you brand new, from the Hermes store, Kelly bag, then the struggle can end.

my friend works at hermes here in dubai, and she told me they have a lot of bags birkins and kellys in store, but they don't give it to anybody. Only loyal clientele, or even if you are a tourist and you spend a certain amount then they will sell it to you. For them, to hold a bag is a representation of their brand and they don't want everyone out there to own it.

Thank you Sona for this video as we share the same frustrations as you, the best way is to go your local or closest Hermes and keep building a relationship with the sales associate, it’s actually not as long as you might think. I agree to buy it straight from the hermes store, the extra money I would rather spend the money on accessories that I can use than to use it to pay a premium and get it from elsewhere. We share your frustration and know that you will get that Kelly girl!!

I only have experience with my local hermes boutique in Italy and it makes me sad that you (and so many other people) have to experience such mistreatments! Up to now I've only been treated impeccably by my SA and have created a wonderful relation with her. Since I don't have the money now, I'm not seeking a kelly even though I truly dream of it. I think you should just try not to be prejudiced and think that you'll never get one because that's the wrong attitude... anyway I wish you the best luck in getting your dream bag! Xoxo

I have to eat my words. I found my perfect Hermes -- a Lindy 30 in Gris Asphalte -- and I'm in love. The leather is just superb. My experience at the Hermes boutique on Madison Avenue was wonderful, pleasant and helpful, and my SA was approachable and friendly.
I live in Atlanta Georgia. I've been to the Hermes store here a couple of times. The SAs in that particular store are very friendly and helpful. I've never had any issues with them. Ive also been to the one is Las Vegas...the SAs were nice there as well.

Amazing video thanks for sharing ! I agree with you Louis Vuitton and Gucci SAs are very accommodating and always will try their best to locate what you want and even get it shipped. Hermès is on a different level with their ways of sale. Weirdly when I visited India I was able to get an Hermès Evelyne III without ever buying any item from them before. I believe that store is no longer open though. I do love Hermès too.
From what I know the trick is to build a rapport with a sales associate, buying other products and constantly returning to the same store and asking about the bag you want, there's literally hundreds of articles/videos sugesting just this. Also without having already purchased a birkin or kelly it's unlikelyvthey will offer you much choice even if they let you purchase one. I completely agree with your point about their business practices, however I think it has probably worked out well for them financially by making these products even more coveted by creating the illusion of lack of supply and exclusivity.

OMG! It has gotten to this! Last year I was offered to view a Birkin at Hermes Singapore, maybe it was a piece in a Colour which a customer had not wanted?
