My favorite era of IMSA at one of my favorite tracks. I wish the race was twice as long. Can't get enough of watching the Corvette GTP. RIP Al Holbert. RIP Steve Evans. RIP Brock Yates.

Times when racetracks were integrated into nature instead of being mathematically calculated by highly paid idiots, like today. Especially in F1!

I remember going back and forth on the foot bridge in thunder valley when the jag would come by, man I miss those days, thanks .

I loved the sound of that big V12 because it was so different than the whoosh of the flat 6 Porsches. I got a team T-shirt from Bob Tullius.

I can't prove it, but I know I was at this race, and loved these cars so much. My dad and I went a lot in the 70's and into the 80's and I couldn't believe these drivers I got to see in person.

Thank You so much for this upload. I was my Dad and brother up on the hill about "thunder valley". It was worth the sunburn.

28:20 "One a March, one a Lola" I thought that both the Nissan and the Corvette used a Lola chassis? The March and Lola chassis both have very distinct looks and both cars look very much like a Lola.

2 years late, but what the heck. Yes, both are Lola cars. Nissan did use March's in Europe and some of Japan around this time, but soon abandoned them to work with Lola full-time on things like the R89C and so forth. Don Devendorf's team soon started to make their own tubs though, which is how we got to the GTP ZX-T we know so well. But they were originally Lola chassis and then were build based around them later on.

Why the driver switch in such a short race?

This didn't show the entire race, It was about 3 hours. So plenty of time to keep the drivers fresh.
