@@bruinsdiehards The salary cap makes almost impossible. Bruins don’t have a single player at 6.5M so the Bruins would have to give up too much. B’s need early rounders for the couple of years.

High level...I do not believe Montgomery's coaching style can handle the rougher/playoff play...like a college coach trying to bring it all to that level. And that surprises me after working (for two years) with Berube who literally played smash-mouth hockey with the Bruins in their last Series Finals.
I think your take on what was going on with Monty behind the scene is likely. What is your stance on acquiring Kreider? What would you think the Rags would want in return? Having a power forward who can score 35-40 goals is something we’ve been lacking for years.

They played well, and were the better team. The Team play has been great the last 3 games under Sacco. Only issue is getting the puck across the goal line
It would be great to see Kreider slot in on the first line with Zacha and Pasta. I'm sure no trade clauses wouldn't be an issue for players on either side of this. The dilemma after looking at PuckPedia is trying to figure out who the Rangers might be interested in return, that the Bruins are also willing to send the other way, and also making the math work for both teams. Rangers are $818k below the cap, Bruins are $1.022M. Also, I'm sure there Rangers are considering the impacts in relation to the Shesterkin contract as well, so expiring contracts are probably on their mind in this. Coyle + Geekie or Frederic could work. I like Coyle and Frederic, but Kreider would add the first line scoring touch the Team needs. Geekie and Frederic are expiring deals. Geekie or Frederic + Carlo could work, but I like Carlo with Lindholm (Rangers will only need a RD if they also trade Trouba). The only D-man I'm interested in Trading is Zadorov. Zadorov + Geekie or Frederic could work as well. Rangers might like this to have Zadorov for after Trouba Trade, but his speed they may not want either. To get a quality player like Kreider, the Rangers are going to want good player(s) in return. And the cap math is key here for any trade to work. Not that I want some of the guys I mentioned gone, but just looking at what I'd possibly do to make this trade work. The Bruins need scoring, need someone to play LW on the first line, and I think the trades I proposed would make the team better. I'd prefer the 3rd one I listed, but I'd bet that would be a NO from the Rangers.
My post was a bit wordy, but needed to be. In addition, I don't think either the Rangers or any other team (3 way Trade) would consider retaining money on Kreider for 3 seasons
Yeah some form of a shake up is not a bad thing...I think we could move a few pieces, without weakening the team too much. I see the trade perhaps from a different angle. The Rangers are still in the hunt for a cup, certainly more than we are at this point. We could and perhaps should trade 2 or 3 guys who can help the Rangers now while we get a decent scorer in Kreider who may benefit from coming here and seeing more ice time. I would also like to see in that type of trade US getting some prospects. We desperately need to start strengthening our prospect pool. Meanwhile let the younger guys we already have in the lineup have some space and time to play and learn.
The trade doesn't seem to work with two teams with playoff aspirations. Not much can come off this roster tbh so if its not a Poitras going the other way I'm not sure what works. One young player I like on NYR is Braden Schneider who I think will be a top 4 Carlo-type. Kreider would look good in Black and Gold though... Believe that both Bruins and Montgomery knew this was not a long term fit so both parties went through the motions of a negotiation. Personally, I do not believe that Montgomery is a top NHL coach (at this stage). Will he get there? Perhaps and there is a long list of coaches that do better as time goes on. Blues are not going anywhere anytime soon so he can learn on the job there. Lastly, just wanted to say that this channel is excellent and I did like your cameo with Dom Tiano and Chris Nosek on their podcast as well, Great insights!

If you're the Bruins, why not try to get a couple of high draft picks if they are right. St Louis isn't going far, so unless the league doesn't give out draft compensation anymore, why not try to get a few picks.
