He puts truth and his heart into his records and he never needed to tell anyone he was the greatest because all his work spoke for itself and will do for generations to come. I saw this documentary on Netflix a couple of months ago and was blown away. I remembered all the videos on MTV but then TP and the Heartbreakers dropped off my radar. This doc reminded me of just how much I love Rock and Roll. I started buying the 35 year Live Anthology and then got the Greatest Hits, Wildflowers, Mojo, Hynotic Eye and The Travelling Wilburys and both Mudcrutch albums. So at this late stage I've become an ardent fan. I love his music and really appreciate him for the kind of man he is.
Can you say "Legend" !! Talk about a great musician, can't imagine what life is like without Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. Can't get enough of his music !

When I stayed overnight at my grandma's house and she let us and my uncle stay up until grandpa carried us to bed and one night I got to see Tom Petty and American Girl on Midnight Special ! Stayed with me to this day ..that is the power of music
My Dad's last name is also Bogdanovich and he was sort of my hero; a very creative man and someone who was above all ethical. He was also charismatic, which is something you don't learn; you just are. If you also a profoundly honest man, it's the best combination of all. RIP and I know Tom loved dogs and probably would have loved everyone's dog. I'm still looking for the right words. He is to be celebrated. He is perhaps, all our unmet Friend. Best wishes to all in the new year.

Didn't care much for the first two or, three TP&HB's albums... Then, I started writing songs of my own. Soon after I began writing my own songs, I heard Free Falling! Then came the Traveling Willbury's!! After that I quickly discovered how great a songwriter Tom Petty is!!! The older he gets, the better his songs get for me... A truly great surprise for me, was when "Wildflowers" came out! For me at the time, I thought this was his personal Sgt. Pepper album!!! I love EVERY SONG ON IT!!! When I thought he'd hit his peak, I discovered the "LAST DJ" album. I think that CD represents the VERY BEST total Rock and Roll album (by anyone) since Wildflowers!! I do not play other people's stuff live anymore but, when I am just hanging out, I love picking up my Gibson Acoustic and play "Dreamville," "Like A Diamond," and "The Last DJ..." The Last DJ, is my absolute favorite Tom Petty & The Heart Breakers work PERIOD.... I know a few pickers over there in Dreamville, it is and probably always will be a Guitar pickers Paradise!!!!!!!
