As far as the "God is a painter" analogy. The observable universe is about 93 billion light years in diameter with normal matter being about one particle per. cubic meter of space. If you had a canvas the 100 meters squared it would have about 10,000 particles of normal matter (Quarks, Leptons and Bosons) invisible to the naked eye on the entire canvas. Not a great analogy.
