Maybe so, compared to how they originated, and Roger Maxson's vision. But Lyons and his daughter and chapter were a great example of BoS being more than a flat ideologically one dimensional single minded unit. Lyons interpreted the code differently, so he created the Outcasts inadvertently. It was good imaginative writing. I've done a couple dedicated loyal soldier brotherhood play through's from F3 to F4. I respected Lyons and Maxson for different reasons. Even though Maxson was ,is a hard headed straight up n down military leader. I think he's more benevolent and fair at the end of the day than not I didn't agree with acquisition of citizens crops by force either, so would always compromise and buy them out. Although I never agreed with what he wanted me to do with Danse. And after speech failed to convince Danse to save himself. I made Maxson pull the trigger, not me. Felt like cold blooded murder. Though I realise after all is said and done BoS were always remnants of the official military. And it's not condusive for a military force to look or become "soft" with their set regulations. Lyons was a great juxtaposition to Maxson in that Lyons was like the older commander in chief that had found some kind ways to be more pro active towards the common folk. Less war like, more of a humanitarian concerned with civilians concerns and logistics. Maybe not the absolutely right road for the brotherhood. But at least the light and shade was there. The older more soft hearted patriarch opposed to the younger more aggressive ,single minded soldier. I find it more than interesting Maxson grew up with such single minded vision when he was basically mentored by Sarah and Elder Lyons.

Maxon is the Elder of the Capital wasteland brotherhood, which is the same BOS chapter you see in Fallout 4. The Commonwealth doesn’t have its own separate chapter.
@@theneocypher oh I just thought they were separate chapters because they were just pretty far away from each other. Maybe the commonwealth will have it’s own chapter in the future.
He is the elder of the east coast BoS. East coast has only began expanding. The only BoS in the commonwealth before Fallout 4 were recon groups. Paladin Brandis lead a group sent there years before the game. Paladin Danse lead another group months before the events of the game. The rest of the BoS only show up during the game. There is a cutscene where the Prydwen arrives. This scene only shows up after killing Kellogg. If you go to the airport before killing Kellogg then you will see feral ghouls there instead. Maxson mentions he came from the capital wasteland and he is in the commonwealth to take down the institute. They're here for war. Paladin Danse is ordered to the Prydwen and will leave the police station. You get a quest to find out what happened to Brandis and he can be convinced to rejoin.
Too late. They own the rights. Tim Cain, Chris Avellone and others have admitted that Bethesda controls the lore now and that it's not up to them anymore. Interplay no longer has any rights to make anymore Fallout games. You're just going to have to deal with it or move on.

This might be a little controversial but honestly the brother hood of steel in fall out 3 are an anomaly and fallout 4 was more accurate.
