Fred Heistand Motors was located in Manheim, PA. I bought my first two Morinis (500 Strada and a new 350 K2) from him. Yes, it's a Strada, and they did come with triple disc brakes. Leave it green.
I was suscribed to Cycle world magazine from 1979 for probably 30 years.I remember cycle shack advertising there all the time.I dont remember a mention of them being a dealer .I like the green and gold.Gold trim was a thing then.Where would you find parts for that thing?Love the documentation on this,I never want to change original paint.
Check the locking ring on the revcounter cable hasn't vibrated loose where it enters the engine mate, i had a kawasaki that used to do that about once a year stopping the speedo reading as the end of the inner came out a bit.
Keep the green! The color is perfect and unique in such a positive way! Not to mention green has come back in style on vintage bikes! This is one of my favorite videos. You went through a fill historical explanation and treated us to a live test ride. Excellent content as always! Thank you!
Loved the presentation Dave. You could always be a teacher if all else fails. I would keep the bike that colour. I had a BMW R100S back In the 90's that I painted peppermint green with gold wheels. I parked outside a BMW dealership and about 12 months later BMW released a naked 1000 the same colour. Coincidence?
Also, I should have added (after fully watching the video) that Morini's are very sensitive about their jetting, get a wide variety then have at it. I used to call Hermy all the time, he is a great guy, always helpul and loves those bikes. I used to also get parts from North Leichester motorcycles in England, they used to stock a ton of parts, but they sold that interest off to another company. I checked for parts a few months ago out of curiousity, man there is not much left. Also, the 500's would go through big ends, as the design was just a bit over stressed, the 350 was the sweet spot for that design. Yes you had to rev it, but it went well for what it was.
Leave it if it's original. But black and red would look good. I like the unique exhaust. I'd love to see it with the lowers for kicks! You need to get it on the interstate to open it up. Do the carbs have A/F screws? I know you have to adjust them hot. A tiny turn out might eliminate the hesitation, or a float adjustment. I bet it's quite fast with the 6th gear. It idles beautifully! And sounds great! Plus it's really cool with the dry clutch. Sounds like a sport bike. Thanks Dave!!
NICE BIKE . LOOKS FAST. THE GOLD AND GREEN LOOK GREAT TOGETHER. I GOT MY 1975 3 1/2 FROM I GUY THAT WORKED AT HERDAN. IT HAS A FONTANA DUAL LEADING FRONT DRUM BRAKE THAT IS HUGE. HERMIE SENT HIM TO ITALY FOR TRAINING AND HE SAID THE BIKES WERE ON AN ASSEMBLY LINE ROLLING ACROSS WOODEN TABLES THAT WERE MADE BY CARPENTERS AND THAT NONE OF THE TABLES WE EXACTLY THE SAME.. THANKS FOR THE VIDEOS DAVID. YOU ARE A GREAT, HONEST AND FAIR GUY TO DO BUSINESS WITH. ALWAYS A PLEASURE.
I think the forks both had the mounts for dual disk. The sport tach red lines at 9500 as the strada red lines at 8500, yours looks like strada. 👍 Good luck getting into neutral if your stopped 😅
I'm mid way thru.. i really like this commentary in your videos.... shirts you mentioned.. I got a dozen compliments last Thursday (Feb, 8th ,24').. a guy approached me and said awesome Bull-Taco shirt.. haven't seen that around.. H-D Trumpet and von Dutch ..Nice to see Spain represented.. and honestly the other eleven..Bees.. it was warm and Bee after Bee would land on yellow field.. I like Bees.. it was fun..lol
If you went to an Italian restaurant would they give you a discount because you're driving an Italian bike. I think you were doing over 25 in 25 zone. Do a couple of figure 8s before you stop. I think the color is OK.
Kanguru is awesome. if I had one of those "Kangs" I be painting the motor RED and painting it all RED'n shit. even RED cables . ain't nobody got time for that.

I forgot to give you a plug!
Keep the green mate, it's awesome and part of it's history.
Green wins the vote, probably 4 to 1

That might have been a different Cycle Shack. This was a small place.

Thanks for sharing your info Dave.
You're welcome

Thank you. And everyone else who has/will respond. I think the consensus is that the bike must stay green.

Keep it green, it's part of it history Dave. I would only change it if the paint job was crap 👍🏴
Yeah, I'd love the black and red, but I hear you.

I stopped in there last week. Dave the tech filled me in. We are very very close

You're welcome. Thanks for watching
I had a 1980 3 1/2 sport that had early side panels, it was a great bike, super fun to ride, and the handling, second to none!
I love the color.
the color is great!
Very cool..thats the bike of street bike i would love to own
Thank you Dave, I enjoyed every minute 👏👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Great looking bike, but I would paint it. Thanks for Sharing!!
Leave it green

Thanks John
Don't paint it. Other than the fairing upper, Morini certainly made a great looking tank and tail.
I've always thought that too.
Just seen a 500 like this with the faiaring removed, looked a lot better too without it.

Wonder why the redline differs?
My ‘82 SEI has twin discs from the factory.
Awesome
Interesting Dave

Should be a 6 speed box on that one too.
i say SE.....the black and red looks nice..... Cool bike Dave
I think so too, but the green votes are way ahead!
It's a maestro 500 btw.
interesting story 🙂 and bike, cheers
Yes the strata came with two disc brakes I had many Moto morini I was fortunate to go to the factory and brought a 501 camel
Hi Jeff. It was nice talking with you on the phone.
+1 to keep the green.
Yes. Folks seem to prefer the green
Dave as soon as you start the bike up to ride it or stopping at a stop sign it's rattling. Is that a dry clutch rattle.
Yeah.
If you went to an Italian restaurant would they give you a discount because you're driving an Italian bike. I think you were doing over 25 in 25 zone. Do a couple of figure 8s before you stop. I think the color is OK.
Return it to a stock color. Nice running bike! 👍
Sweet looking bike. I ride it anywhere
Awesome Italian bike.
Never rode one.
Excellent channel 👍
Thanks! Glad you dig the channel too
Keep it Green
Gotcha
Leave it
Time will tell me! Thanks!
I think it's a great looking bike. I would have guessed it to be an original factory model.
Yeah, I did too!
I like the green!
I guess its an acquired taste.
Keep it green…… it wants to be a Kawasaki 😮😮😮
Well, its got a long way to go then!
Leave it alone
Yup, the Nays have it. Green it shall be
Kanguru is awesome. if I had one of those "Kangs" I be painting the motor RED and painting it all RED'n shit. even RED cables . ain't nobody got time for that.
I never saw one, but I do remember the Camel
Leave it.
Yeah, I think that has the most votes for keeping it.
That tailpiece looks copied from a Z1. Best part of the bike imo.
I knew Michael Jackson was still alive. Now we just have to figure out where Elvis is living. I'd leave it green. Goes good with the gold wheels.
You're the first viewer that noticed MJ here in New Smyrna!
Keep the color
Yeah, the keep votes win
Make it look Italian
You already have green
Something is rattling dave.
The dry clutch? Or give me a minute mark.

Lovely bike. Shame what they’ve become
I know. I forgot to mention that. Maybe on the next one
Leave same color.. let's buyer paint it to their preference.. unless you have made money to throw away..
That's the smart way! yes
@@bullpencycles to yes we need to stay in touch I have tons of pictures that you would enjoy seeing from the motor marine factory
This could be 10 minutes long..thanks anyway..
