    For the newbies
    We love Salicylic Acid
    We love Niacinamide
    We don’t like fragrance
    We hate denatured alcohol
    No micro beads
We do not like citrus in skincare especially lemon
    We don’t like scrubs
    We don’t like makeup wipes
St Ives apricot scrub is a foot scrub
    We don’t buy Drunk Elephant
We don’t like Mario Badescu but drying lotion is an exception
We Stan Cera Ve, The Ordinary, The Inkey List, Paulas choice and Krave Beauty
    We looooove sunscreen
Edit: OMG 8K LIKES! MOM IM FAMOUS!!!

I was sure Hyram would have million of followers in the future, when I first found him out last year, because of how extremely picky he is and always has a point to convince you why some ingredients are not good for your skin, without making it confusing to people who had never heard of those ingredients before, or didn't use to have a skincare routine. You make me feel safe to buy your recommendations and I always feel afraid to purchase a product you haven't reviewed yet. As a person with severe eczema fragrance is like my number one enemy. My skin gets so inflamed rashes come on quick. It horrible i have to check every label. I can on put perfume on my clothes. All my skin care and laundry detergent are fragrance free none can touch my skin. Its so disappointing because i love fragrance it can add such beautiful warm comforting feeling. Like theres nothing like clean inviting smell when crawling into fresh clean sheets except mine - they just smell like static :(.

I use essential oils for my daughter. She goes through the same thing. It's something you may want to look into. She would get upset because she couldn't buy bath bombs because of the fragrance and dye so started making my own with essential oils and it didn't bother her. You'll need to learn about them first because some can be too strong for your skin.

Here is my skincare routine. I love my routine and the results so much. I have normal-dry acne prone skin and struggling with post acne dark spots.
    In the morning:
    Either
    • cerave foaming cleanser
if I’m feeling more oily than normal
    But most days I just
    • YTTP superfood cleanser
Then the only vitamin c that doesn’t break me out
    • physicians formula brightening vitamin shot
The best moisturizer for my skin is
    • cerave daily lotion
    Then the best sunscreen ever
    •supergoop unseen sunscreen
    At night
If I’m wearing make up I use
    • versed cleansing balm
Don’t love the fragrance but the texture is nice.
If I’m just wearing sunscreen I use
    • versed gentle cycle milky cleanser
I know it’s a water based cleanser but it has so many oils abs breaks me out if I use it alone
Then my second cleanse will each be one of the morning cleansers or
    • urban skin RX even tone
And I use it as a 3 minute mask and second cleanse
Then I alternate between my favorite product
    • ordinary granactive retinoid emulsion
    Or a prescription from dermatologist
    Then
    • cerave daily lotion
Looking for a nice eye cream if anyone has an recommendations

Fun frangrance fact- In the US, the FDA assumes fragrance to be a 'trade sercret' which allows cosmetics brands to disguise tons of unlisted ingredients under the 'fragrance' label.

As hyram stated before, when it comes to fragrance, “it’s the not poison but the dose” - in other words meaning that the important takeaway concerning skincare products which contain fragrance ingredients is that it’s not necessarily fragrance itself that leads to things such as skin potential future skin damage/irritation &/or things such as contact dermatitis, but rather the amount of fragrance within the product that determines the potential risk of irritation to the skin. In other words, since brands aren’t required to disclose the amount of fragrance ingredients within a product, one “blue’s clue” or thing to use to weed out overly fragranced, potentially irritating ingredients within a skincare product, is looking at how high up the term fragrance is. The higher up it is, usually, not always, means that there is likely a higher chance for there to be a higher concentration or quantity of fragrance ingredients within the skincare product. Hope this helps clarifies some questions & confusion about fragrance

I kept hearing “natural” products aren’t good for your skin, but that was what I had always used. So I started using other products like the ordinary and the inkey list and similar. They did absolutely nothing to improve my skin, some did quite the opposite. So now I went back to “natural”. I use a Ayurvedic aromatherapy based line of only four products and am finally seeing good results. This type of product may not meet with some people’s approval but they work really well for me. Wish I had figured it out sooner, would have saved myself several hundred dollars and the stress of messed up skin.

    • @nikki4012
      @nikki4012 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah I definitely think products like the ordinary/inkey list can be as harsh as any other product. It does really depend on your skin sensitives (and how you use it!), I found natural products to be just as effective (depending on the ingredients, of course). Wish Hyram didn't categories everything natural as bad, but I can see where he's coming from. Essential oils can be really bad for some people, so I can see why he wouldn't recommend it for a big audience.

When you live in a country where the majority of the year the UV indicator is 1 (sometimes 2), I don't know if it's really worth it for our skin/health to use sunscreen products with lots of ingredients that could have potential risk for health e.v.e.r.y.d.a.y (because we don't know everything about skincare ingredients, life has already proven that). And also, why would I need a spf50+++ in this kind of environment ? And on top of that, SPF has to be renewed throughout the day to be effective. So yeah, as well as I can understand all of these claims, I'm still a bit skeptical because it doesn't seem well balanced.

Especially if you're not a Fitzpatrick 1-2, aren't on photosensitizing medications, aren't going to freak out about a tiny little wrinkle (seriously, I think the fear of aging/sunscreen obsession is getting a little bit toxic in some places now), don't go outside much (glass blocks UVB) and aren't using AHAs or retinoids. Sunscreen is expensive and you really don't necessarily need it at all.

Okay so im an esthetician and while I think spf is important here In Florida I DEFINITELY think it can be overused by some. Vitamin D is just as important if not more important than wearing spf. Spf blocks the absorption of vitamin D. This is important bc D is vital to our health. It absorbs pretty much as a hormone to regulate our immune system which is vital in covid times. Over 70% of the world's population is deficient and there have been studies that show that having sufficient vitamin D levels may be a great preventative for covid 19.
Long story short, depending on your skin, spf is not ALWAYS necessary. If the UV index is moderate to high then yes please wear spf. If its low I dont think its necessary. I think this obsession with spf and unbalanced approach is hurting us more than helping tbh. But don't take my word for it, do some research.
