1.) Yes, Ioulaum's longevity was a spell of epic magic developed in the Year of Dwarves Besieged, −674 DR to extend his lifespan over the centuries. Ioulaum's longevity dealt massive damage to every creature within its area of effect. Any creature slain by this spell was reduced to dust. The spell also damaged constructs, objects, and undead, but only living creatures could contribute to the longevity of the caster. Each living creature destroyed by this spell extended the life of the caster by one year 2.) Alhoon are not undead, they are Illithid Spellcasters. There may exist many parallel dimensions where this happened, the Faerun we are familiar with is the dimension in which this did not happen. Timey Wimey Wibbly Wobbly. 10.) Yes, the LeShay, for instance, are immortal (unless killed) 11.) Ioulaum extracts a terrible price for the information he provides, either the voluntary, permanent loss of some fraction of the questioner’s sanity (permanent loss of 1d4 points of Wisdom) or the complete knowledge of a new epic spell (which is then forever lost to the questioner). 12.) When an artefact dates back from the 'ancient Netherise empire' in the Realms, it's like the Etruscans in italian genre movies : you know that this will end badly for everyone ;)
There seems to be a running theme with people who want to extend their lives, become a lich or kill a God and absorb their essence. Are there any other ways people/creatures in the D&D universe can become immortal?
Yes,yes there is. First you need the spell Life force exchange lvl 9 in "The Complete Book of Necromancers" 2nd edition circa 1995 You'll need a Necromancer to cast that one. Then you need to get him or her to research a new version of it that will work on Titans. Then you need to somehow subdue a Titan with a Charm monster spell or use a wish to put it to sleep then cast "Titan Lifeforce Exchange on the creature and if it fails both its magic resistance and its save vs magic the casters or your life force and the titans will switch places permanently. You then need to completely destroy the casters old body and TA DAAA! Your now in the body of a titan which is naturally immortal! Worked for me after 5 years of spell research and about 250,000 gp in costs and my Warlock/Philosopher is now currently the God of Death and Necromancy and hes created a new race of Titans! Hope this is helpful.....AJ also did an awesome video on the monsters called xvarts check that one out if you would rather campaign with others to try to acheive immortality that way....hope this was helpful! 😉 Also if you do manage to get a Necromancer to do all this for you,i recommend you kill him immediatly after he's completed your task!
Positive energy liches (baelnorns), in pathfinder a 20th level wizard can take the immortality feat, there are potions that make you younger, philosopher stones, wish spells to become younger (carefull how you word that), other forms of undead: vampires, ghouls (they are intelligent), mummies, death knights, the undying (positive energy undead) becoming a god also works or the poor mans option of instead becoming a type of outsider (angel, archon, demon, ect...) deals with demons sometimes can give immortality (but come with a new host of problems), body snatching, becoming a intelligent golem. A simple one is to cast clone spells on your self when your younger, than preserve the corpse till your older to off your self and become younger or if your into rolling dice get a friend to cast reincarnation when ever you feel a little to old.
Well, there are very few actual unkillable immortals, so you will often hear me clarify (immortal unless killed). The best examples are the Naga, who are very hard to kill.

Hey AJ I thought you should know that you have the second part of this video in the history of magic items play list instead of the history of Faerun playlist.
There is a reason I don't like the idea of a Mageocracy. It's like the Wizards are Supreme rulers, and the next person in line for power is likely the Archmage's apprentice, or simply the best (or most backstabbing/ruthless) student who climbs there way to the top of the local Wizard School. Don't let spellcasters run your cities, madness and magical chaos are the eventuality no matter how long it takes.
Wow! I had no idea that ancient Toril had so much detailed and rich history. I saw that you had something I grabbed from fairytales in your video, something I put in my campaigns... cloud castles and cities. Some cloud and storm giants live in them, appearing to be clouds to those below or beside them. Did Netheril have them? One of my cloud cities had a secret pact with technomancers to recruit some for maintenance as they long lost how to maintain it properly. Oh, technomancers were a type of wizard in Loom. Nowadays they would be considered "steampunk fantasy."
Oh absolutely, the Netherese are famous for their flying fortress cities, known as Enclaves. The Cloud and Storm giants have elemental powers over the air that allows them to make cloud castles, and they could be just as impressive.
This is Great! Why not make uchronias as well? You have a D&D culture vast enough to pull that off. You could make an alternate history of Faerun where the Netheril Empire never fell! ( *for example* 😃 ) Maybe the world is divided into those who side with Thay and those who side with the Netherese.
@@AJPickett thank you so much I've been strugglingbto figure out which barbarians came before the rengarth or the uthgart mostly because you mentioned the netherese giving control of lycanthrope to the grey wolf tribe of uthgart
@@draxthemsklonst The Last Mythal trilogy touches a lot on ancient Elven empires, the Fey'ri and Daemonfey, ancient Aryvandaar. It also has a lot to do with High Magic, and the Mythalcraft. Not much, if anything on the Netherese though. For that id recommend the Return of the Archwizards Trilogy, which centers on the only Enclave to survive Karse's Folly
AO was overseer of the gods, not really part of any Pantheon. And nah Amaunator was the god of sun, law and time in this ancient timeline, later to become Lathander of course.
they're gods. magic breeding is a thing in the forgotten realms. its how you could have your own half dragon baby, even though, and forgive me if im wrong, im assuming you're not a dragon yourself. plus gods can do anything they feel like tldr: lifefindsaway.jpg
Nether the Elder was a douche' and got a poisoned dirk in his back for his troubles, enter Nether the Younger! You should be using the term NY(Netheril Reckoning) as opposed to DR. 😊 Nice video man! They worshipped deities yet their arcanists refused healing magics as they thought they would taint themselves and not become "ultimate" arcanists lol .......those crazy kids! 😂
I thought about that, but I use the DR calendar for all of my videos, I did mention when the Netherese calendar was invented, so people can work it out from there, otherwise, not much point confusing people with multiple time scales.

juan santos Politicians are worse, nobles are better. Mageocracies are the equivalent of civilizations run by mad engineers.
@@AJPickett Thanks. And OOOO! Do a video on those! Eh... please. Sorry, didn't mean to sound demanding.
@@That80sGuy1972 I'll see what I can do :)
@@AJPickett Sweet.
Tempting!
Perfect, and thay are the good guys. XD
@@thedarkmaster4747 They're better than that, they're Wizards 😃
What was the name.of the barbarians? I don't know how to spell the word
@@AJPickett thank you so much I've been strugglingbto figure out which barbarians came before the rengarth or the uthgart mostly because you mentioned the netherese giving control of lycanthrope to the grey wolf tribe of uthgart
Seven Citadels war... Vyshanthar (?) Weapons.... where can I learn more about these things?

@@draxthemsklonst The Last Mythal trilogy touches a lot on ancient Elven empires, the Fey'ri and Daemonfey, ancient Aryvandaar. It also has a lot to do with High Magic, and the Mythalcraft.
Not much, if anything on the Netherese though. For that id recommend the Return of the Archwizards Trilogy, which centers on the only Enclave to survive Karse's Folly
Lol "infernal taint"
Infernal Taint... LMFAO
How this video ends, was just perfect. Starts out as a human mage, ends up as an ilithid elder brain. PERFECT! XD 🧙♂️✨📖🐱🏍🤪🌌🐙💀🧠👌
Nice Emojis, though the cat was confusing.
Cat? In which order?(which emoji by number) I sware some of these emoji's get lost in translation.
Loard AO wasn't in the Neterise Panthion?
Also, I thoguht the Sun god in forgotten realms was called Palor.
AO was overseer of the gods, not really part of any Pantheon.
And nah Amaunator was the god of sun, law and time in this ancient timeline, later to become Lathander of course.
Pelor is, indeed, the God of the Sun, but not in Faerun (Toril). He is the God of the Sun in the World of Greyhawk (Oerth)

This was a great video! Is there a connection between ioun of netherall and ioun the diety?
I don't think so.
👍
selune and shar are sisters...how do they have children together??
they're gods. magic breeding is a thing in the forgotten realms. its how you could have your own half dragon baby, even though, and forgive me if im wrong, im assuming you're not a dragon yourself.
plus gods can do anything they feel like
