Rudge knock-off wheels were an option and add considerably to the value of a real Gullwing. Fitted pig-skin luggage also adds value. If this were a real Gullwinwing at auction in 2023 it would fetch some $1,500,000 USD. Gorgeous scale model.

They're 'spinners' as they are used to hold on the centre lock rudge/og Mercedes wheels.
They were the only way to hold on any wheel that was a centre lock fitment.
Like wire wheels fitted onto Jaguars, Ferrari, Maserati, etc.
All high-end car manufacturers used a licenced copy of the Rudge Whitwoth wire wheel to the Italian Borrani wheel manufacturer.

There is a very cool feature on this Car you missed to show .The Steeringwheel is foldable downwards as like as in the original 300SL for an easier entry

Jep , Schuco just re-used the Premium Classixxs tooling for this 1:12 300 SL from 10-12 years ago ! I hoped Schuco did some changes , but it´s just the Premium Classixxs version . To be honest , the 1:12 Premium Classixxs war already really good ! I have the silver Premium Classixxs one (with the dark blue interior) because a 300SL has to be silver IMO , and I really love it !
BTW : I got rid of "those things you don´t like" on the wheels -@ 3:45 - and replaced them with chromed mercedes wheel caps (from a 1:12 300 SL Revell Kit) and they look way better IMO !
And thank you very much again for showing us the Schuco version , I always wanted to have a clear review of it !

Well I did notice something : I think the Schuco has another Gear Nob , and doesn´t have carpet all over the interior (only on the "central tunnel" ) ??? my Premium Classixxs seems the have the correct gear nob , and has the carpet everywhere in the Interior (which the original 300 SL had , not just on the central tunnel) ... but yeah , otherthan that , both Schuco and Premium Classixxs are just identical (kinda make sence since both companies are german )

Hi Maverick, great review thanks! I just received mine today after 1 and half month of waiting on international shipping. My one is Gulf light metalic blue limited edition with white interior and it came with a leather box and a certificate. I absolutely love it. It is definitely one of the best diecast models in my collection. I watched most of your reviews. Keep up the great work and look forward to more beautiful models you will purchase in the future.

The letter "N" on the license plate is the regional code for the city of Nürnberg (Nuremberg). I think the Schuco HQ is located there. Usually there must be the letter "S" for Stuttgart, the hometown of Mercedes-Benz and also my hometown. :)

The steering wheel folds down in the real car because it was for easier access because the steering wheel was very large but the real one has a special lever that would lock it in place

Nice model. Wheels are Rudge "knock offs" The silver two bladed center pieces are to be knocked off with a rubber or wooden hammer for quick tire changes (when racing)

the little protrusions on the wheels you dont like, they are grips for you to remove the tire and wheel, Other schuco models have the same thing and gives you something to grip when you unscrew to remove the wheel, thats what they are

Hi I love your videos and I see that your channel is growing, BUT I really disturb me on something from your videos!! That is the quality of your videos! I think I would speak for all your subscribers that if you would invest in a affordable camera, you can get some nicer close ups and shots. Filming with your phone is really getting outdated and it doesn't look good anymore. You can literally get a decent camera for a low price if you are on a low budget. Just a tip to make your videos better and make your channel grow faster! Keep the good work up and good luck!

    • @ExternalStar

Thanks for your feedback. I already made my research and found a suitable camera for about $1000. It is not really chep but maybe next year I could buy it. Let's see. I already inveted to Rode microphone. This is not a professional channel and if I buy the camera, the return of investment is really uncertain.

Seems like the paintjob on it is very bad .i see some some scratches and spots on the hood at 5:12 and if that are real scratches and skuffs,i would deff reject it from the dealer.

  • @lavluvlov

Some nice details but a shit color over shitty wheels(this was a luxury car ...) and a broken steering wheel, this seems very fragile. It would be good as the special of the week($29.99) at Walmart
