Truck stops are great places to get supplies, fuel, food, weather information. Traffic and road construction ahead. Maps, cb radio install or repair. Minor vehicle repair.

I always wear flipflops (shower shoes) in Trucker showers.... Same with campgrounds for that matter. LOL, The water slide was great! Your 'living on the road' tips will come in handy when I get to that point... Wife has horses that she can't be separate from so I camp by myself mostly

UK truck stop showers are proper dives normally
Truck stops are variable here in USA. Best to stick with the big names on well traveled routes. Great to have traveler services available when I need them! I'm in the market for a teardrop now, but in the past I used to rent a U Haul 5x8 trailer on the local daily rate, throw a twin bed in it, and drive thousands of miles. I could sleep where and when I wanted in addition to taking more stuff with me.
Trucker showers are one of those road secrets that I felt like only a few people knew. They're largely as you described, which is much better than most people probably imagine them to be. Some are nicer still, like Little America and at Sapp Bros truck stops, but they're the exception.
My MO was to enjoy a trucker shower every other day, and on off days I'd freshen up in a hotel lobby bathroom. Why a hotel? Well, the lobby bathroom is cleaned by the same housekeeping staff that cleans the rooms, so you're likely to have a very pleasant experience. Try it and you'll never freshen up in a McDonalds again.
Tip, most drivers have a bunch of free shower credits built up and are willing to give you a free shower ticket.
2nd and most importantly, don't park your rigs in our parking spaces, park with the rest of the 4 wheelers....we have a parking shortage and don't need the rest of the motoring public making it even harder 😉

I saw you use and refer to the collapsible bowl n drinking cup. This go round you sold me. I have 2 traditional plastic bowls that are a pain because of their shape. Stay safe. Oh don't know if you did this intentionally but your presentation and delivery were the best. You spoke at a more comfortable rate as opposed to running at nervous hi speed. You also didn't interrupt when you asked a question. You were an exec in ur working career so this isn't new. The power of interviews you include is you make that individual the 'expert.' If you always finish their thoughts then what's the purpose of including them. Doing these greatly improves your effectiveness. Thanks

I live out West in Arizona. I travel and live full-time in my trailer (a Gulf Stream Vintage Cruiser 23RSS) and I've never heard that you must have a gray water tank or you'll be fined, Interesting!

I love the views of nature in-between the gear info! Question: what upgrades did you do to your Outback in order to tow your trailers? Transmission cooler? Electric brakes?
Hello Catherine. I did not do much. I added spring helpers which add a bit of help when the car is loaded to capacity. Nothing to fluids and and brakes. I have not driven over the Rocky mountains yet. Outback has adequate brakes for towing within specifications. Electrical was easy. In addition to the brake controller I had the harness wired to charge the trailer when I drive. More on the suspension here. I am working on an update to this video. I found a model I like better. Hi James. No air conditioning. I am off grid all the time. I also did not want to give up the storage room. New rig has loads of storage. Its very nice. I use a 12V box fan for cooling.
