The Walking Dead is Rick’s story, but if any character was capable of being the lead of the show, it was Carl. With respect to Daryl, he’s been the same character since Season 4, seeing Carl fight the Whisperers, the Commonwealth, and the CRM would’ve been just as good an ending as the Comics.
They had the potential to make this absolutely SOUL CRUSHING by actually bringing chandler back for a dream realm scene but I understand the budget might have been tight
A beautiful tribute to Rick and Carl's relationship, that relationship was the heart of the show. I like how the Ones Who This brought back the importance of Rick's relationship with Carl, it will always be one of the things that can break him but also bring him back from losing himself.
Yeah, they shouldn’t have killed Carl. That was Rick’s heart! It was all about keeping Carl safe. Rick and Michonne bonded through their love for Carl. I still don’t understand the reason he was killed.
they killed him off because the actor (chandler riggs) was turning 18, meaning they had to pay him adult wages, which amc didn't wanna do since the budget for the show was already low for how popular it was. chandler said he even bought a house closer to set so he could continue with college and the show at the same time. truly unfortunate because cause was the future of the walking dead
obviously if we look at production, the reason is clear, but looking at the actual show, depending on your perspective it could be a good thing. Yes, Carl's death absolutely killed twd in my opinion, but it also absolutely improves Rick's character. Rick's entire Season 8 arc after Carl's death was incredible, and now with CRM Rick, it's still affecting the character in a really great way. Still really dumb to kill him tho
Rick was NEVER the same after Carl's death, i mean even in 'the ones who live' taking place like 6-8 years after carl's death he is still mourning him.
You're NEVER the same after losing a child & THAT is the reality.... All a person can do is learn to live with it but the loss is always there, just beneath the surface.

compared to most characters, carl really became really cool after season 4, espiecally in season 7-8
