Toni what a perfect little loaf! I was in VV yesterday and saw four cast iron pans. One was a lodge but I had all those sizes more or less. Your newly sourced lodge dutch oven is a perfect size - just watching you handle it so smoothly 🌸
Oh, I have multiples of various sizes..but I did not have that small Dutch Oven...and now that the weather is turning, it might be time to get them all cleaned and seasoned!

What a beautiful loaf! When I make a sandwich loaf, I make a 5x5 inch square loaf. Its enough for me and the old bear for 2 days. Just enough before its starts to dry out. (we have a door mat that says, "one old bat & one old bear lives here" guess which one I am.)🦇🤣
Looks perfect Toni, would love to have the recipe of the small loaf bread for the 2Qt. Lodge Dutch oven. Is it possible for you to supply it for me, all the recipes I see are for larger breads and have tried to adjust the amounts and don't seem to work well for my little Dutch oven.
Hi Toni, perfect loaf of bread. Looks yummy. I've made sourdough starter but only made pancakes, bread looks like to much work, so I put in frig for awhile. Would you be willing to give out the recipe, sounds like my kind of bread. Thanks Dawn ❤🇨🇦
It seem like more work than what it is just because of the amount of times you have to work the dough and let it rest...yes you do have to bank hours to prep it, but only a few minutes of those hours.
Can you share how long you heated you pot for before you put your bread in it, also what temperature did you cook your bread and for how long…This is my first time using cast iron and my first bread didn’t cook in the middle
BAKE preheat your oven with the dutch oven inside to 450˚F (230˚C). drop the parchment paper with the dough into the dutch oven. Bake for 35 minutes covered, then 10-15 minutes uncovered, or until dark golden brown. Remove loaf from dutch oven and allow to cool on a rack for 1 hour.
When you get it the way you want, I hope you're going to do a video on the recipe. I'm always on the look out for small quanity recipes (recipes for two) 👵👨🦳
I like my old fashioned Dutch oven, made of pure cast iron. I was a chef for 24 years and I like people who keep things simple in the kitchen. Some people over complicate things with no good reason why. A great video.

I think the cast iron was hardly used..it only took a little scrubbing and a seasoning to get it usable again. It likely was fairly new!

Yes, you can bake it in the larger dutch oven...the bread may spread a bit more though.
