I don’t disagree, however once you extend the string length, you increase the percentages of tangles and delay, not to mention string breaking. Only solution is develop a modern free fall machine that is financially feasible (and pins) to lower ownership costs.
I played many years on string pins. And then had the possibility to change to a center with free fall pins. The difference is huge and strings suck hard.
Packy is way nicer than I am, no way I'm letting someone keep the 8 count from a gutter that came back in a cash game. Another reason packy is the next GOAT
This should be a PBA/PWBA event theme. Use old stuff that can be certified per the specs of the ball when it was first sold. I like it! Congrats Brent! Well played!!
I thinkg Brent hit it on the head about more aggressive play being viable when it comes to splits. Rather than guys going for wood and taking the pins we'll for sure see a lot more go for it moments on all levels.
There's more to it than just string length. It also involves the depth of the pit and some other stuff. I believe one of the companies hasn't even released their upgrade kits yet.
Oh, I get that. I just thought maybe if they were certified with all the videos you post from here, people might have a different view of string pins. Now, before I get slammed, I am not a fan but would be willing to try bowling on certified before I make an opinion. Because we all know about opinions, they are like A##holes everyone has one.
Cool video Packy! $59.99 for the ball and $39.99 for the shoes? Before I had a towel/shami for the ball, I used to wipe the ball on my shirt, so I would wear old, dark shirts to league. I still use $39.99 Dexter's with a $15 Hammer slide sock. I rolled a 289 a few weeks back with my Hustle M-M, which retails for $109.95. I look forward to seeing some "string action" shots. Maybe with Barnzy and TJ Rock. Chicken Fil-A is delicious, you can put that Polynesian Sauce on anything and make it taste gourmet... Have a Bless-ed Day!
I've never heard of string pins until Packy on House Bowling showed them. to me it looks like the pins do NOT move as much as FREE falling pins they look like dead pins that can't move much.
Place near me got them, they are the WORST to bowl imo. As was mentioned, pocket is way tighter, as you saw reaction is low, and so on. I get why they're becoming more prevalent, traditional pinsetters are insanely expensive new and getting more expensive to maintain for the old ones.
Yeah, it takes away a lot of the fun of bowling. Cross lane messengers simply don't exist. And picking up hard splits due to the pins "Tarzaning" around on the string does not feel like an accomplishment at all, it even feels a bit undeserving. On top of that, my avg. drops an easy 50-60 pins on string setters compared to freestanding pins. If I have a 200 game on string pins, I'm quite happy. I understand that freestanding-pin machines are just ridiculously expensive in maintenance and I completely understand why centers make the move I just hope that the "String-pin technology" sees some improvement that it gets closer to freestanding pins somehow.
@@NullIsCoolisnt this house a professional spot where pros practice? Why would they spend the money to put in a system that isnt USBC certified? Very strange.
If you think string pins are weird, let's go back to the '80's when magnesium pins were being tested. I went to a tournament in Wilmington and practiced on the magnesiums just for fun. I used a Roto-Grip, 16 lb at a 13 mph speed. I had a 224. This hotshot bowler I knew let fly and left the 5-7-10!
I don’t mind the string pins- it’s fun to shoot splits on them and watch the pin action go all wacky, but let’s please keep them out of pro competition. Although I know the PBA will try to shoehorn them into every tournament they can once it’s feasible.
My setup is Freedom USA Flag Bowling Shoes, Primary ball Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid, Spare ball Brunswick Flaming Skull, Double ball Brunswick edge bowling ball
I have a plastic spare ball and a phaze 2. 2 handed bowler with lowish speed and a high rev rate. Should I get a shiny weak ball or a purple hammer next? This is for anyone willing to respond.
Unless you bowl sport patterns I don't reccomend getting a purple. I'd absolutely get something shinier. I'd look into the Zen Gold Label, !Q Ruby, Ethos, Hyroad Pearl, Deadly Rattler... the list goes on
Love these videos. Gotta say, people have tried to sway me on strings and they look awful. So nope, not a fan and I think bowling should be ashamed for trying to save money by using them. 👎 but hey, I love you guys!! So there’s that! 😊
I know everyone talks shit about string pins but I just there’s no difference between free Falling pins besides form the set up I’ve been throwing on string pins for a minute and I score higher on strings then free falling
wow at the stringpin hate, the video wasn't even about stringpins. both bowlers bowled on the same lanes with the same pinsetter so any issues were shared. it's a training centre, not a sports arena. this was a casual challenge game not a sanctioned pro event. they could have done this at a purely casual centre the point wasn't "stringpins are acceptable" it was never about stringpins at all.
Packy…bowling has got to get rid of string pins. PERIOD! In Canada I bowl 5 pin and did so for 50 years (professionally for 29 years) I’ve bowled on both free fall (no strings) and strings…you cannot compare scoring as strings are worse. I’ve also bowled 10 pin so I can make a decent comparison with the two games. There’s more skill on free fall…ball speed, rotation, angle of attack in the pocket. Strings is simply rare back and heave it. I realize the financial advantage of string pin machines but it is a serious disservice to the game and players. Frankly it removes the enjoyment of the game. From what I’ve seen through your videos, there’s no doubt the strings are affecting the game, both physically and scientifically. Somebody has got to a develop a financially feasible automatic free fall pinsetter if Brunswick/AMF eliminates free fall machines.
I would think the strings would get all knotted up & all tangled up. the videos never show how the string pins get set back up or how pins that don't leave the deck get off the deck? I guess the reason any bowling ally would have string pins would be to cut cost of NOT having a regular automatic pin setter or a combine pin setter?
we have the non certified strings in my home centre and have done for 5 years. I would say the pins tangle badly enough for a mechanic to get involved once an entire league night. They run themselves pretty damn well
not having used them, but having watched some unedited videos. they keep attempting to pick up the pins and dropping them until all the pins correctly home. as a technician in another industry you get knots when an end passes through a loop. one end is fixed, the other end isn't far enough away to create loops. so the worst tangle you'd get is strings wrapping around each other
Honestly I really agree. I can’t say anything bad cause I haven’t bowled on string. But the content I loved is gone with them. I’m ok with challenges with string but with ball videos or equipment, don’t do them here do them at a real place
Strings? Why not, but than please don't call it bowling. Make it a different sport like candlepin or duckpin don't try to replace regular bowling with string bowling. We don't want it. Period
There's almost 0 difference in certified string. Pin bowling and normal bowlingo watch a real true certified string pin alley. It's amazing. You can't tell the difference. These things look horrible.
You and Brent vs Darren & Lance would be good.
This is the least amount of strikes ive ever seen on this channel lol
honestly .
7:33 lets face it. This is why string pins are hated. They need to increase the length of the string so these random drops stop happening.
I don’t disagree, however once you extend the string length, you increase the percentages of tangles and delay, not to mention string breaking.
Only solution is develop a modern free fall machine that is financially feasible (and pins) to lower ownership costs.
Brett’s X1 is the best looking ball I’ve seen in my life! 😮💨
I played many years on string pins. And then had the possibility to change to a center with free fall pins. The difference is huge and strings suck hard.
Love how he mentioned the wild card!!! Still throw that ball and hits better than most.
Packy is way nicer than I am, no way I'm letting someone keep the 8 count from a gutter that came back in a cash game. Another reason packy is the next GOAT
Love packy and his dedication and hard work
String pin carry is the reason for the flat 7 lol
Brent: "I'm tired, Man. I have a two year old"
Me: "You ARE a two year o-"
Brent: " *I* Am a two year old"
-why i Love Brent
Brent has the prettiest RST-X1 that I have ever seen 😍
Just roll the ball on your shirt, Brent! 😂
8:04 That does not make any sense a lot of people are going to be pissed😂💀
7:38 reason 3726 string pins are WHACK

Cool video talk tech bowling bowling ball packy
Ayyy! Can’t wait to see you on tour
Also I’m a bit curious about the shockers program there. I know there are good, but does it change the way they bowl at tournaments?
7-10 string attempts would be fire!
With Mitch. Need more Mitch
@@alexreed5010 or OR even better, ALL 3 OF THEM to a first to 5 or 10 depending on how easy it is with strings 😆
Did the REC go all strings? Or are there a couple lanes that are free fall?
Also what pattern is out there?
I believe they went all string pins there
Bring Brent to Nutmeg Bowl and see who'd win there. I'd back you, Packy!
Mitch Hupe gets the winner!
It seems like a wild Via has appeared with food
UPLOADDD 🔥🔥🔥
Holly Harris with an unofficial cameo
I bowled string Pins 1 time on my Birthday Last year. Pretty fun first Time Experience
i want you guys to have a split conversion challenge
Gotta go old school and soak that Yellow dot and bake it for the rematch
I thinkg Brent hit it on the head about more aggressive play being viable when it comes to splits. Rather than guys going for wood and taking the pins we'll for sure see a lot more go for it moments on all levels.
i live close to you, like 40 minutes away, i need to come bowl when your there sometime
So why don't they put the strings to certified length at this facility?
There's more to it than just string length. It also involves the depth of the pit and some other stuff. I believe one of the companies hasn't even released their upgrade kits yet.
They have not once in my lifetime hosted a league or tournament here so no need to spend the extra money

Packy not wiping his ball is the biggest handicap in this challenge. lol.... Wait 11:43. I see a shammy
Added it in when I realized I had the budget 😅😂😂
I would have rented shoes and bought a decent ball!! Lol
I thought about that strategy instead!!
Or you could do a 7-10 challenge at the Kegel Training Center. I picked up the 2-10 with a bounce from the back at Kegel Sunday
Packy, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but you look like Abe from Clone High
It would be fun to bowl with you. Even tho I would lose but still would be fun to try
Fun video guys keep it up!

Luckily, these are not USBC certified strings. At places with certified strings, you don't really see any difference in scoring pace
@@NullIsCool Thats great to hear would love to try those but who knows when those will come to Germany...

It’s Christmas!!!! 2023
If the bowling centers I bowl at were to switch to strings,I would sell all of my bowling eqipment and quit. They are awful.

What all of those balls have in common is that they're pearl symmetrics, and should compliment your Phaze II well.
Literally any medium performance ball almost
if you dont have a PH in your bag and you are not PBA, go ahead and pick one up.
Something like a Hustle RIP or Deadly Raptor. A low dif sym with a polish on it.

I still like my linds shoes. I like no room for my foot to move inside the shoe.
TNT Infused > TNT
Now switch it. But instead Brent gets a handicap.
screw the strings!
As much as I like the videos this channel puts out... as soon as I saw strings...👋

I want to have a no Brooklyn league someday. I say Brooklyn is the same as foul and you shoot the spare, little more generous I guess than 9 and out.
I have absolutely no interest in bowling with strings!
$1000 on gear and he gets the trash release of the year TNT lol
String pins noooooo
Strings should just out right be banned
No strings packy please
I really hope my bowling ally puts strings on
I was hoping that you would prove my point that you don't need a thousand dollars of equipment to shoot 250.
On the sport shot it’s a little different story!
Not looking forward to string pins
I don’t think I’ve ever seen more people cry about something as simple as strings it’s sad
