Absolutely loved this! Didn't think I could be more inspired by youtubers to travel but you've definitely just made that level a whole lot bigger - thanks man!
Thank you! I am CONSTANTLY inspired to travel by other TH-camrs, so I'm glad you're being inspired by my content too! Where else are you inspired to go travelling?
Nice videos brah !! I live on the Central Coast (between Sydney & Newcastle) Are you using an external mic here or just on-board stock mic with the camera ?
For the selfie narrative shots, I was using the built-in mic on the Canon G7 X. the other shots use the Rode VideoMic Pro or the Sony's built-in mic at a really low level with a slight audio gain applied.
How can you have only 17.000 subscribers? Your content is SOOO amazing. And don't worry about your "upload schedule", as long as those vlogs keep this quality. I'm fine waiting for it :D
Thank you, I appreciate your support! The audience is growing rapidly, and it really helps with people who share these videos and spread the message! I've since been able to continue the Saturday schedule since arriving back in Australia, so I think we're on track!
Your videos are so simply stunning. Your cinematography is beautiful. You definitely inspire me on my way into videography. Stay cool, I'll sub, and look out for more stuff and things!
I love your videos and I love Australia! My sister and her family lives there (Townsville) and I visit them almost every two years. I've just recently started on my own TH-cam travel channel. I hope I can make it as good as yours. I've learned much from you. Thank you for doing this! Cheers!
If needed, I would BEG for you to do a tutorial on your workflow and grading process! You are killing it heavy man. Love your storytelling and visuals. Keep it up!!!
We're not in New Zealand unfortunately. We arrived back in Australia about 2 months ago, and I'm slowly getting through the backlog of content around my freelance work. The first NZ vlog should be out this coming weekend...
hi guys , wish I had of known you were on the Gold Coast...I live here and could of given you some pointers....never mind looks like you enjoyed yourself so thats the main thing..if I can help in the future let me know...cheers Al
Ah thanks for the offer! We'll be back there at some point in the year to visit Coolangatta and other beaches in the area. We wrote about our thoughts in the blog at jellyjourneys.com/blog/2016/sydney-brisbane-australia-road-trip-pt-iii/
Ha! This was filmed in April, so it was much nicer back then. We're now in the middle of winter here and it's pretty dark and grim if I'm honest. We don't even have Christmas to distract ourselves 😔
+Joe Allam dark and grim? Never!! You're just heading to the wrong places. Come up north and you'll be in summer weather again (atleast English summer....)
I think they were "Paperbark" trees? or dead "Tea Trees".... both are common around dams, lakes in Qld. Also the prawn place is pronounced "Bel-in-ah" however, the way you pronounced it gives it an Italian twist, which makes it sound better :p
Cheers - We realised afterwards that we were pronouncing loads of things wrong haha! I guess we have that familiarity of European countries that sways our pronunciation!
Hi. I might be driving up to Lamington soon. Just wanna clarify, where did you park your car before you go for the treetop walk. Is there a parking space there or was it just at the random roadside?
+Joe Allam I'll likely still be up here if you need a place. I'm always amazed at how things that seem so common to us (Soft sand? And the usual hectic birds), seem so out of place to others.
other people must have asked you for this or you have said its like but please could you link the web sight your using to find all these sweet place to stay, EDIT: ive just looked at the video again, just must be me not catching it is this the web sight ? www.airbnb.co.uk
You missed alot of beautiful places on the east coast of Australia.some examples are,Valla beach,Nambucca heads, near Coffs Harbour. In land from Byron Bay is mount Warning national park, which is an extinct volcano and much more.Anyway Australia is a big country and you will miss alot .If you are in Australia in the future please visit The Kimberley Western Australia. The scenery is breathtaking and wild.Since you been to stunning and wild New Zealand ,you should visit Western Australia
Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think they're native water trees. Someone else mentioned that a dam was built, that raised the water level and caused the trees to drown...
+Eat Away haha! You should see all the stuff I cut out. So many times I'm vlogging and then finish the clip by saying something like "…alright let's go!" Completely unnecessary haha
Yeah I realised that after I said it haha. Especially considering pines are evergreen and don't lose their leaves in the winter 😂 The camera makes me say stupid stuff _all_ the time...
Haha! Did you watch with headphones on? You can hear Elly in the background calling me a potato. 😂 We literally couldn't stop laughing at it when watching it back.
Yeah heard that! I had a chuckle the whole way through at all the little background comments. Crack up! Looking forward to September when we head your way again, we need to plan another little or big road trip!
Australia has all sorts of wildlife that could kill you; not to mention we’re not from the area, so obviously not familiar with it. Seems like common sense, no?
You show your face too much. We are here to see the scenary, not your face, please show the scenary more, show your face less, whats the point of looking at your face all the time when watching a road trip
Absolutely loved this! Didn't think I could be more inspired by youtubers to travel but you've definitely just made that level a whole lot bigger - thanks man!

I'd love to tour around the PNW of America and also Scandinavian countries!
Your style is so clean and professional. This is the sort of stuff you'd see on the TV!
Thanks man! Busting my ass til 5am getting these edits done, is aways worth it.
No worries Joe! When you back in London?
HAHAHA 10:05 inTREEgued 😂😉
Glad someone spotted that. Subtle humour is the best humour... 😏
So clean and professional, I love the cinematic parts, and really enjoyed watching the whole video..great job as usual ❤️
Cheers! I love making the cine scenes and loads of people seem to enjoy them too! Did you have a favourite one?
A Brit in the land down under is an incredible partnership. I must say mesmerizing photography and excellent narration.
I know the video is over 2yrs old, but great video my friend. Australia is my dream place to visot
hey Joe! great video.. I took my hertz car on a 15,000 K trip lol... are you guys in Brisbane now?
Great Video Joe, some pretty sweet cinematic shots! :)
Thanks man! Which scenes were your favourite?
The shot at 3:00 looks dope!
I lived in Macksville (where you saw the sunset in between Sydney and Coffs), and now I live like 10 minutes up the coast!

Squeaky sand, so Australian, I definitely miss it!

You're not the first to ask, the 3 commenters before you, all asked the same thing across various other videos as well. Ha!
I'm thinking about it…
I'm doing this (fairly exact) journey in about a week!
Takes a travel vlog to realise how beautiful a country I live in 😍
Btw at 9:55 those trees at Hinze Dam are dead not shaking off leaves lol
Nice video, great to see creators exploring what's in my backyard! If you don't mind me asking, where did you purchase your watch from?
I live an hour away from Brisbane and I go there a lot!
hey bro loved the video if you are still in NZ come to waiheke island its sick here and its only a 30 min boat ride from auckland.
We're not in New Zealand unfortunately. We arrived back in Australia about 2 months ago, and I'm slowly getting through the backlog of content around my freelance work. The first NZ vlog should be out this coming weekend...
Loved the cinematic/film parts! Good work! :)
Thanks man! Which one was your favourite?
Your cinematography is amazing, love the video :)
Cheers man! Did you have a favourite cine scene?
+Joe Allam Loved the scene from Byron Bay!
+Joe Allam Loved the scene from Byron Bay!
Your videos are so professional! I love that washed-out filmic look!
Thanks! I always enjoy the colouring part of the edits 👌
Absolutely love your videos Joe! Was wondering what video editing software you use?
Cheers! All edited in Premiere Pro
Time to catch up on all your latest videos. I've been out the youtube world because I was moving also, but I'm back! :D
Hey Adrian, I thought it had been a bit quiet around here lately... 😏
OMG! Business class! I love your content! Keep doing this stuff! You're awesome!😉✌️
Business class was awesome! Such a shame that it was actually on our shortest flight overall! 😂
This is so amazing. Your awsome at editing.
HI Joe, I love your blog. We are looking to do the same going from melbourn to Brisbane. what would you say best route was and how long did it take
Maybe those trees are a bit like The Ghost Trees of Kaindy Lake - Kazakhstan.
Btw love all of your videos!! Keep it going!!
Woah, just looked up that lake. It's kinda scary looking. Nature is amazing!
+Joe Allam I know right!! But it's so beautiful at the same time!
hi guys , wish I had of known you were on the Gold Coast...I live here and could of given you some pointers....never mind looks like you enjoyed yourself so thats the main thing..if I can help in the future let me know...cheers Al

Joe...why is the contrast so low on some of the 'scenic' shots.....(not the selfie narration scenes)?
i live here, the gold coast. great work mate.
nice videos 😀👍🏻... how do you stabilise your video?
Really like your colour grading on the sunsets - Any specific programs / settings your using?
Cheers man, all graded in premiere pro using Lumetri and loads of curves, plus some DeLuts
What did you use to get that great color in your more cinematic shots on your tree walk?
Taylor Wink i want to know too
The trees(mostly gums) are dead, the dam wall was raised about 4 or 5 years ago. The water level is probably about ten meters higher then it was
When you have time, do you think you can do a video on your color adjustments to your videos? They are luvly.
Thanks! I get this requested A LOT. it's on my mind; bare with me...
Thanks! and yay!
Well done mate, amazing video! The weather in Australia seems considerably better than here in the UK! ;)
Ha! This was filmed in April, so it was much nicer back then. We're now in the middle of winter here and it's pretty dark and grim if I'm honest. We don't even have Christmas to distract ourselves 😔

Hi Joe,
Do you have a link for the Byron Bay Airbnb please.
what is the model of your backpack with that camera hold? :)
Love your vlog! Please come to Thailand one day :)
Already did! th-cam.com/video/ugT8jTsq9QY/w-d-xo.html
+Joe Allam Oh wow, silly me! 😂
I have been debating making this drive vs flying. Seeing the rain on the windshield has me thinking I’m flying.
Coming all the way up to cairns??
Not on this road trip, but I'd like to visit there again some time over the next year. I last went about 10 years ago...
+Joe Allam I'll likely still be up here if you need a place.
I'm always amazed at how things that seem so common to us (Soft sand? And the usual hectic birds), seem so out of place to others.
whats the name of the Airbnb out side of Byron ?

Whats the tune at 11:10?
Good work, as always. ;)

Best video, great channel
🇦🇺Australia 🇦🇺 and love your vids joe
✌️Wooo!✌️

Yeah we had limited time during this road trip, but we're in Australia for the next year, and I will definitely be travelling around a lot!
Well i hope you enjoy yourself and always look for hidden beauty
What do you Edit and record with💻🎥
i have this road and i saw beautiful places along the way
i have travelled this road in 2010
the trees could be mangroves or cypress.
Thanks for the suggestions, but I don't think they're native water trees. Someone else mentioned that a dam was built, that raised the water level and caused the trees to drown...
Yup. I read that when I did my drive from Brisbane to Melbourne back in May.
Really good video! :)
very cool video
Haha I love this video!!! You made me laugh out loud so many time! Keep saying the "stupid" shit at the end! :)
+Eat Away haha! You should see all the stuff I cut out. So many times I'm vlogging and then finish the clip by saying something like "…alright let's go!" Completely unnecessary haha
go to korea you will have lot of fun !!
I REALLY want to visit Korea!
wow really nice
I like australia and its good ppl...
business class! sweet!
It was SO awesome. Shame it was our shortest flight overall though…
Those trees growing out of water are mangroves.
They are dead trees from when the dam was made and filled up.
Cheers! I wondered whether the water was a manmade setting. It surprised me that the trees would be so tall/exist if there was a river there.
I also don't think any of our trees lose leaves in winter.
Dylan Baxter Yeah and I don't think pine trees are native either.
I love your style. Show your work to BBC or to national Geographic. ❤️
Thank you - what a compliment! I don't think it's anywhere near the level of quality for the BBC or Nat Geo... yet.
Those trees are not pine for sure.
Yeah I realised that after I said it haha. Especially considering pines are evergreen and don't lose their leaves in the winter 😂 The camera makes me say stupid stuff _all_ the time...
Aawwww man!!! Nough said 👍
Cheers Zayne! What part was your favourite?
+Joe Allam obviously the loaded pizza man! You know it's always gonna be the part with food in it for me💪
Haha! Did you watch with headphones on? You can hear Elly in the background calling me a potato. 😂 We literally couldn't stop laughing at it when watching it back.
Yeah heard that! I had a chuckle the whole way through at all the little background comments. Crack up! Looking forward to September when we head your way again, we need to plan another little or big road trip!
sooo nice :)
Where do uce live? Not australians?
Originally from the UK, but currently in Melbourne.
Joe Allam up for a collab?
Thank you. I would like to see more of the scenery as you talk and less face time on camera.
Dont want to walk in the dark.Dont want to drive in the dark.what the....
Australia has all sorts of wildlife that could kill you; not to mention we’re not from the area, so obviously not familiar with it. Seems like common sense, no?
The dark wont hurt you.Only whats in it .
Mostly it is your face in the video not much
You show your face too much. We are here to see the scenary, not your face, please show the scenary more, show your face less, whats the point of looking at your face all the time when watching a road trip
