    Hi Mr. Chandler... when you plug in the USB drive does it automatically record to the drive or is there something to press? Thank you much for your good explanations of things.. nicely done!

      He does not really teach this in the video, but I could do this using option "Media" after plugging the USB into the piano. Check page 51 into the manual, under "USB Flash Drive Operations" > "To save Digital Piano data to a USB flash drive"

    I could use some help. When I first got my keyboard, I filled up all my songs. Now, I don't know how to delete them and the (Rec Trk) won't show up when I hold the button. I know I am doing the correct thing and I have not done anything that would abuse the keyboard. All the buttons work fine, it's just I can't delete songs/tracks.

    Hi, this recording feature is pretty neat, but it seems I can't loop any of th erecordings I make. I can make certain measures repeat after each other with the 'A-B' function, but it always leaves a silent gap between the end and beginning of the repeated measure. Is ther a way to remove this gap? Otherwise looping a background track is impossible

      Same problem.. i assumed it wouldn't be that difficult to loop a simple idea..I was wrong. The keyboard is great but I'm going to have to give up on recording before I smash this thing and throw it in the dumpster.

    Hi Chandler, cool vid. A remark: the whole recording process can be applied to the CT-X-800 as well, and even to the CT-X700 excepted for the export of the song on an USB stick. And a suggestion: could you maybe consider doing another video to show how to export the audio to an external device? After all, the CDP-S350 has great sounds and one might want to keep them instead of using a DAW or android/iOS apps to produce a tune.

      Hi Vinciane, thanks for your comment. You're correct that almost all of this info can be applied to those CT-X models, save for some very small differences in the interface (since the CT-X models have a number pad and the S350 uses the selection wheel for most things). I have a bunch of videos in the works that cover song mode features on the CT-X700/X800/CDP-S350 , and one of those videos will explain in detail how to export multi-track recordings to your flash drive as MIDI files using the onboard media menu.
      Converting these MIDI sequences into audio recordings that use the internal sounds to their full potential is a pretty advanced subject, however, and requires a lot of background info about how to handle voice assignments via MIDI CC and Program change commands, plus the process of recording the output of the S350/CT-X using an audio interface. These video guides I'm working on are pretty narrowly focused on what can be done with the keyboard itself, so it's unlikely that I will document the process with a full-on video guide here on the official Casio Music Gear channel.
      However, I have been considering putting together a written guide that compiles all the information one would need to know about MIDI editing and audio mastering for the CT-X models and the CDP-S350 (similar to the written guide I released over on the forums that covered how to make Casio Rhythm files on your computer). If there's enough interest for a guide like that among the CT-X/CDP-S userbase, I'll definitely let you know when it goes up on the forums so you can check it out for yourself.

      Hi Chandler, thank you for this explanation.
      I am not speaking about dmastering on a computer and using the internal sounds of the CDP-S350 or CT-X700 and 800 keyboards as a sound generator, but rather about how to record the audio output from the keyboard once you’ve recorded and edited your tune on the keyboard itself thanks to internal MIDI recorder. I did this a couple of times with Audacity a very old MacBook which is totally obsolete but has a great internal digital audio interface.
      Since the CDP-S350 and CT-X700/800 have great internal sounds thanks to the AiX chip, it would be great to have a tutorial on how to export the audio output of the keyboards to a computer or a tablet using an external audio interface. I think that many musicians would simply like to be able to record easily what they hear through their headphones when they are playing.
      By the way, together with the impossibility to adjust the respective volumes of the Main, Layer and Split Voices on the CDP-S350 and CT-X700/800, I find that the lack of an internal audio interface on the CDP-S350 and on the whole CT-X series, including the CT-X3000/5000, is the only serious drawback of the line of keyboards, esp. given that the direct contender, Yamaha, has put such a digital audio interface on its PSR E373 and E463 (on the E463, you can even record your production directly on an USB stick). I strongly hope that the next gen of Casio home keyboards will have an onboard audio interface.
      Have a nice day 😎

    Can you start over again with a clean slate by erasing all 6 tracks or do the tracks have to be overrided with new tracks?

    • @chandlerholloway7876
      @chandlerholloway7876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      To erase a user recording, select the recording slot you want to clear out in the Song List and long press Record/Stop. Use the selection wheel to bring up "SongClr", then press Enter. It will ask "Sure?", so press Enter again to confirm you want to clear it. You can also erase a specific track by selection "Track Clear" in this same menu, but I find it's easier to just re-record the individual track normally.

    So from what I understand now I can't transfer the recording to a usb drive I need to hook a computer up to it to transfer a recording. Can I hook my phone to the CDP-S350 with a recording software app on my phone? I use my smartphone way more than my computer. I was thinking about getting the app called (Mix pad if that would do the trick or if there is a app someon can recommend if I can use my Android phone instead of a computer with the CDP-S350 ?

    • @chandlerholloway7876
      @chandlerholloway7876 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can transfer your recording to a flash drive as a MIDI sequence file, just go to Function > Media > Save > MtRtoSMF and choose which recording slot you want to convert.
      However, MIDI data is not an audio recording, it's a song sequence data format meant to be used with hardware sequencers and Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs). You can use a MIDI file to get an audio recording, but that would require a mobile DAW like Cubasis or something (if you really wanted to use your phone). If you want to record an audio file (WAV or MP3) of your multitrack recording exactly as it sounds on the keyboard, you'll need to connect the headphone output of your CDP-S350 the audio inputs of an audio interface. Some audio interfaces that work well for mobile are the Behringer UCA222 (you'll need to pair it with a USB OTG adapter as the UCA222 uses a full sized USB port) or the IK Multimedia iRig stream (doesn't need an OTG adapter, but is a bit more expensive), although generally speaking, you'll want any interface that's Android compatible and can accept stereo, line-level sources like keyboards.

    Can you split your keyboard then control the volume of each voice per your split, I.e. Bass in left hand with piano in right with different volume levels.

    • @robinwf1
      @robinwf1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't been able to. what kinda works if you're using an external amp is to crank up the bass. another way I discovered is in duet mode adjust the octaves to make a regular 88 keys then you can split the stereo to left and right separate channels and output to 2 inputs on your amp. but the split is right down the middle and only one sound. so kinda works with piano or organ.

      You might be able to buy an aux cable splitter. But the better option is to buy an audio interface like a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, for example, which I have and love.
