Casio has released two brand-new pianos today in anticipation of the Winter NAMM 2019 show. Joining the portable CDP (Compact Digital Piano) family is the incredibly portable S100 and the "Ultra Compact All-Rounder" S350.
The Casio CDP family is forged around compact and lightweight design with no sacrifices in either tone or playability. The new CDP-S350 meets these criteria with ease and features a fully weighted, hammer-action keyboard, battery power capability, and a powerful range of musical functionalities, all packed into a compact chassis weighing just 10.9KG.
As Casio says, the S-350 is, "An ideal choice of instrument whatever your favourite style of music may be. The CDP-S350 combines a massive library of creative sounds and accompaniment styles in one of our smallest designs to date."
Casio are keen to stress that, at its core, the CDP-S350 is a "brilliantly versatile digital piano, suitable for all ages and abilities." To achieve this, the CDP-S350 includes a brand-new Smart Scaled Hammer Action II mechanism with simulated ebony and ivory texture keys. This new keyboard recreates the key weighting inherent in an acoustic piano, giving players an authentic playing feel to develop their technique and perform as expressively as possible.
The optional SP-34 pedal unit also provides three pedals for players to recreate the una corda, sostenuto, and damper effects found in acoustic instrument, making even the most sophisticated performances possible. A pitch bend wheel is also provided, giving the potential for synth-style performance and the recreation of electric guitar bends/vibrato.
    Versatile Sounds
The CDP-S350 is loaded with over 700 dynamic instrument sounds, including acoustic & electric pianos, synths, guitars, and ethnic instruments. 200 music track styles are also provided, giving you a realistic backing band to practise and play along with.
A built-in arpeggiator and 6-track song recorder gives the potential to record your own song arrangements, while a Lesson function is provided to help you hone your skills.
    Versatile Connectivity and App Control
The S350 is designed to fit in a wide range of musical situations, from the home to the stage. As such, it features a headphone output for silent practice and external connectivity, as well as an audio input to play along with your own music.
A USB connection provides the ability to connect to iOS and Android devices, via Casio's own free Chordana Play Piano App. This mobile App can show you how to play over 100 pieces of classical music, as well as control your piano remotely or display PDF sheet music.
    Portable Design
The S350 is a new member of the Compact Digital Piano family, and Compact is the key word! The CDP-S350 weights 10.9 KG (without batteries) and can be powered by 6 AA batteries so you can perform wherever you go.

Hi Jeremy, very nice demonstration as usual, I wished I could improvise as well as you do. 😎
As for the instrument itself, it sounds very similar to the CT-X line to my ears. Have you got any clue as whereas some tones/rhythms are unique to the CDP-S350 or are they already all onboard the CT-X series?
Two drawbacks with this instrument : 1) I am wondering why Casio replaced the nice white screen of the CT-X line with this ugly orange screen which is completely outdated and strongly reminds me of the Yamaha PSR E363. 2) I wished that the rhythms would have 4 variations instead of 2.
Do you think Casio has a new Privia in store with the AiX chip (or the same samples as the CT-X line) and 4-variation rhythms ? Now that would be cool bro 👍I wish you a very nice Sunday with your family.

I am thinking about getting this one after seeing some other of your videos because of the many different sounds that it can make, and also its sound quality. Is there a sawtooth or synth? And does it sound good? I'm assuming it sounds good like the other sounds. Also, is this good for me as basically a beginner? (I have a keyboard, but the key sounds are all or nothing and the sound is low quality and also it has a limited amount of sounds, which don't sound very good anyway.

I am afraid of bad sound quality for my home playing :-( I have a small studio with external monitors but I would like to play also at my flat :-) Or do you have a chance to test Studiologic Numa 2? Do you have sound comparison between CDP and Numa 2? I know that is another type of instrument but I am curious about sound. I need something portable at first. I think Korg B2 have a nice sound but it has only a few sounds and no display. Thanks a lot :-)

CT-X5000 has 800 sounds. This has 700. Most tones are from CT-X

The attack sounds crappy and the highest notes sound jarring

After all the tones comes from the keyboard Casio CT-X 5000 its around 100€ euros cheaper, basically the rest is just the graded hammer action, even the speaker are less loud (CT-X 5000 is 14 W while this is 8 W)
