  • Puppies and senior pets are known for having the occasional accident, but it can happen to any dog. That's why it's important for all owners to know how to stop a dog from peeing on carpet. Read the full guide here: topdogtips.com/how-to-stop-a-...
    If your dog is already house trained but continues to pee on your carpet, it's probably because the smell of urine is still there. Even if you can't smell anything, your dog probably can. A dog's sense of smell is 10,000-100,000 times greater than ours!
    "Making natural pet repellent is an option, too. Most dogs don't like the smell of citrus, including lemons, limes and grapefruit. You can make a homemade dog repellent by adding 2-3 tablespoons of citrus juice to a spray bottle filled with water. You could also use 15-20 drops of citrus essential oil in place of the fresh citrus juice."

    My female Maltese is pad trained and uses the pad every day and knows to use it. Out of the blue she will pee on my runner in the hallway. Sometimes I think it’s spite but I’ve been told that’s not possible. I disagree. When I take her off the bed at night and put her in her bed I’ve seen her run to runner, pee and run under the bed. She knows.

      Why not have her sleep in her bed, in her crate? Not to reprimand, but so she gets use to sleeping in there, and less accidents when you’re not watching l.That sounds like a baaaad doggy! 😆

      It’s stress peeing and it’s not out of spite. They are stressed because they wasn’t given what they want. They usually just stop and pee somewhere random even if they were just let outside 10 minutes ago.

There's a really strong sweet, perfume-type smell. It's along some of the baseboards and intwo corners of the bedroom. I'm trying to get out the perfume sweet smell. they were maybe trying to mask it? Do you have any suggestions as to what they could have possibly used? Thank you.

  • @ChrisSgaraglino

    So I have a question, I have a dog that marks locations especially on carpet edges. We’re constantly pulling out the area rug in the living room and replacing it with a brand new one and within a day marks it again. I need a solution so that when I replace the rug, after we clean up the floor which we use natures miracle in the mop water, that I can put on the brand new rug that would deter him from marking on it?
    Side note, all 3 Westi’s are mature and house trained, they have 24/7 access to the backyard, the backyard is picked up at least twice a week if not more. The only issue we have with the male Westie.

      You can get Nature’s Miracle in any pet store but I found the best price at Walmart. I first bought a small spray bottle of the product and then the largest bottle in order to refill the smaller spray bottle. Most dogs, including puppies, hate to make “mistakes” and I noticed how embarrassed he was when he did, so I never scolded him but made certain that no scent was around to attract him. He’s over two years’ old now and must say, I have no problems and never a bad odor in the home. Hope this helped.

    How does this help you stop the dogs from going potty on rugs? These are great tips on cleaning, but I have an older dog I’m having to care for for my father since he’s ill and she’s going potty outside and then coming in and going on my floor.

    • @LineKing51
      @LineKing51 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      As she mentioned, dogs usually do not like the smell of vinegar, rubbing alcohol, or lemon juice thus, potentially deter them from peeing in the same spot. However, none are guaranteed to stop them. With an older dog it is especially challenging because it may be several reasons they are peeing inside. One other thing you can do is try & limit water consumption later in the day. If you make drinking a timely routine, sometimes you can more accurately determine when they need to potty. If you had pets or, still do since your Father moved in, they could be marking their new territory over your pets. Best of luck!

    • @bbyjcky1
      @bbyjcky1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This wouldn’t get rid of the smell. There are other high end products that penetrate the carpet fibers and cancel out the enzymes your dog leaves behind in the carpet. This video is just a temporary fix to deter them from peeing in an area…

So, leaving home is always a challenge for us. My husband and I were thinking about taking him to 'doggy school', but then again, it’s extremely expensive, and the nearest 'doggy school' is far away from us. Maybe you have some advice? Get a crate, I have 3 dogs I crate them at night, and when I go out as I’d have no house left, I’ve changed my rugs like you wouldn’t believe, I’m gonna try this vinegar see what. Happens as they pee in the house so they. Are banned to the kitchen and I have a massive garden, I was at my wits end, chihuahuas are the worst to potty train even thoe I take them out and go in the garden with them, and I love them to bits!

    • @rachelewilken930
      @rachelewilken930 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @donna barden, I tried crate training my dog when I first got her as a puppy. As soon as I put her in, she would FREAK OUT! Screaming & jumping around to try to get out until she would get so upset, she would have diarrhea & then continue to jump around in that, covering herself as well as the crate with excrement. She’s generally ok in the house. She stopped chewing random things now that she’s older & we mostly have everything under control. I have mostly hardwood floors, but she doesn’t signal to go outside & if she has to go, she finds one of the few rugs (mats at entrances, mostly). I’m not sure how to fix any of this. I don’t have money for professional training & a crate is clearly not an option. To prevent accidents at night, I take her out right before bed & as soon as we get up, but I also make her wear washable & reusable doggy diapers overnight. Usually, they are dry in the morning, however there are still times they are wet in the morning. Any advise at all??

      I'm not sure what method you used to crate train your pup, but it's a process that can take a month or more. If you just put them in there and close the door they're naturally going to freak out.

      Get a new rug & start training immediately. The first time dog goes to pee, sternly reprimand, pick up & take outside. Put the old rug out there so he/she gets the idea this is where to go. They are peeing relentlessly because the enzymes are surely & permanently ingrained on that rug.

    • @LineKing51

      I would try the vinegar alone first, then the lemon juice alone. Sometimes mixing, although seems twice as potent, can block one or the other out. It’s important to remember, dogs ability to smell is thousands of times stronger than ours. If you take a bottle of vinegar & let your dog sniff then, do same with lemon juice, see which one they have a bigger reaction too. Good luck!
