    Just used a 5 inch apc style two blade and trim off the tips and balance it...i trim and balance props all the time...a 2 blade prop the right pitch will put perform the stock 3 blade and draw less amps...not sure what the kv of this stock motor is,but if its a 2200kv a 5x4 or 5x3 will work with a 2 to 4s using a 30 amp esc..using stock 20 amp esc i think a 5x4 cut down would be great with 3s 800-1000 mah...

    That 3 bladed prop measures right at 5 inches. Not sure how you came to 4.3 inches. Also, mine came with glue. I guess it varies on whether glue comes or not. Anyway.... finally found a source thanks to your link. Appreciate it!

      My pleasure. According to the prop specs it’s a 4335 propeller. It doesn’t state that on yours?

      @@paullebleu8209 Might need to re-calibrate your ruler there Paul. The props are marked 4835 - I presume Gal's eyesight is getting as bad as mine. These props are a bit fragile - probably best to replace with 4.8 multi-blade quad props. HQ have 4.8x3.4x4 4-bladers (and some of even higher pitch) plus 5inch or larger will hit the framework when it flexes under full power - probably not a good idea. 😜😊
      EDIT! We have used a 5x4x3 quad prop on it and run it on up to 3-cells. It has survived but has a few scrapes on the plastic under the prop! 😉

      @@theoztreecrasher2647got 1 coming bud. Can you gut it and put a normal rx in or are they 5 pin servos? Does the rudder have a servo or is it linker to the elevator servo? TIA 👍🏼

      @theoztreecrasher2647 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@propgear123 Normal 3-pin 5v servos but might need to swap the connectors for normal Dupont/JR ones. The rudder and ailerons are connected to 1 servo but, if you are gutting it, no reason you can't add a separate Rudder servo. Best to keep the stock ESC. If you feed it well below the normal low of 1000usecs I believe that it will run in reverse to back the plane out of the weeds. Check the RCGroups thread on this plane for the correct info on this. My memory is shot these days! 😉

    Great video, really informative! 👌 A few quick questions though:
    - are there any lights or any other signal that indicates when the battery is running low power and about to die? Asking since one of my other RC plane models didn't and almost lost it during flight.
    - since this plane is in the water often, is there any rust that occurs around the metal components? Or are the parts rust-proof?
    Thanks for the answers, and keep up the good work~ ✈️

      Thank you!
      Yes - the LED strips will start flashing when the battery is low.
      Electronic parts are waterproofed but I won’t let salt water get near the motor as it will be damaged over time.

      On mine the controller starts beeping loudly and cuts the throttle to about 50% giving enough time to land under power. I wouldn't worry anyway the crazy thing is crash proof. If you place the battery far enough backwards it does the craziest aerobatics on it's own with the throttle off.

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will take off from short grass, snow or reasonably level dirt - just gun the throttle and haul back on the elevator! The plastic belly skid plate is pretty tough but probably not a good idea to continually scrape it on rocks, cement or tarmac though! You need flat water and gentle steering to make a clean take-off from water. It doesn't help that, because of the single servo running the ailerons and rudder together, the wrong aileron dips in the water as you swing the rudder to steer. But it's doable. 😉
