It is the original version, but the short has been released only in 2003 not in 40. in fact the PROJECT was born in the 40', but then ww2 began, Disneys studios lost a lot of money, and the project was abandonned. It's Roy Disney who discovers the archives of the project and has worked with Disney Studios in Paris to release it :) From 6:11 to the end of the video you can see the drawings dali made in 40s !
Its clear that at this point Disney still had the same artistic aspirations with animation that he had with Fantasia. Before becoming all about the Moolah.
Destino dates from a late 1940s collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali that was abandoned then resurrected 56 years later. Animated by Dominique Monfery at Disney's Paris studio
Ar...art? On a serious note the animation and blend of 3D is just amazing, trippy as all hell but amazing. I hope they contuine to honour Walt by doing more projects like this becuase with all the ideas that man must have had i'm sure plenty of new stuff we could see from him he never finished
I think Dali made the drawings alone in this. The Disney studio, whoever was working on it (not sure if it was Walt himself), made the animations, but it was not released probably cuz the public couldn't handle the weirdness of it, you know, the animation not being suitable for mainstream disney theme. But, many years later, it was rediscovered, maybe they made changes or just finished it and released it.
you're talking about the parts that look like obvious CGI animation right. I thought that was a little strange too until i read the description that the project was abandoned and then "resurrected" 56 years later. if that's what Dali and Disney wanted to animate i wonder how it would have looked using the traditional pencil to paper method of animation
Great book published last year [2015] by David Bossert titled 'Dali & Disney' which details the collaboration of these 2 artistic geniuses and the short film. Pick it up if you see it. [H.C. about 20 or so $] Very informative and interesting read for the Dali or Disney fan.
can someone please explain me what's it about from what i understood is, its about relationship between time and love...can someone break this down for me ??? im just too lazy to watch this again nd again... :(
i think only you can do that. and, sorry for not trolling with some insane stuff i would normally do, but probably if any of this is important to you, it will stay with you and develop in a way or another, if not, than i dont even have to double check for spelling, since time is something i dont got right now: money! : >))
Is the original version ? it seems there are 3D images from time to times... and some of the drawing are definitely not in the Disney-Dali style from the 40'... do you have info as to were this video comes from ? (dvd?)
You should look up the meaning of the word contradiction before accusing me of it. I didn't say they were equals. Here is my suggestion: re-read my answer and revise your answer; you pointed out that it was a collaboration and I stated that the fact that it is a collaboration doesn't make Disney's contribution equally good.
I shouldn't have to spell out that I am presenting my own opinion when I present my own opinion. In saying that I think that there's too much Disney it's implied that it is my opinion. So, do I "honestly believe that" I am wholly right? No, but I honestly believe that I think Dali is much more skilled an artist than Disney, which is the whole point of this stupid discussion. You're the one opposing it by accusing me of viewing art as something objective.
obvious CGI clips in the video, i was hoping for at least just a non- computer altered version of the film. this is like the remastered star-wars, why f- with it
0:08 Even pirated the FBI warning. The absolute MAD MAN!

I think this one is about the relationship between time and love.......
The music is haunting, the scene fantastic, and the artists fabulous
Sad but lovely. A beautiful short film. To watch and feel every moment.
thanks for watching. :)
Thank you for uploading this, Radu! It's been a wonderful visual experience.
cu plăcere

Thanks for uploading this, i really wanted to see the original :)
I had to watch this several times to fully grasp it. Its gorgeous and the story is very deep to say the least
Imagine de 1946 à 2003, le truc était dans l'oublie,...... le public ne savait pas,.... quel talent,... et quelle vision......
I didn't even know Dalì and Disney had been working together, this is just perfect!
Fuck this is just awesome i never thought that Disney and Dali would make such a great job together.

So beautiful! Absolutely captivating.

All the modern 3D animation sprinkled in kinda ruins this for me. I want to see the ORIGINAL animation that Dali made.

Magnificent! Reminded me somewhat of Fantasia - one of my favorites!

nice yet strange and mystical
Me encanta el surrealismo. Para mí es la expresión suprema del arte-
i love the song.... I feel like I'm transported to the 40/50's.
I thought this was amazing. Very powerful to me.
Woow ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I would wager a guess that acid would be amongst them...

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say pure, undiluted happiness. That most wonderful of drugs...
Magnificent
Disney's nephew had it finished. 2003
wow this is awesome
Do you know who sang this version of the song?
"Destino dates from a late 1940s collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali that was abandoned then resurrected 56 years later..." :)
Is it weird that while watching this I thought about how i want it to be a world in KH3....
And by the way "professor", I didn't start the discussion. You did.

Wonderful x474838
True friend story overseas love Francia.
Helicopter renting on air "
I think it lacks a lot of what Salvador Dali would have liked to be...
I think Salvadore Dali worked better alone
1. Too much Disney
2. The music doesn't work together with the images
