i think part of why jeremiah starfish’s brand was so popular was because it was really out there while most other brands where still focused on neutrals..because where else would you have gotten yellow or blue lipstick in 2016ish, same thing with his colourful eyeshadows

All you have to do is look at his twitter, and he's always retweeting some girl that has bought ALL of his mirrors for example. Like, 26 mirrors or something stupid. That's not even palettes you might *possibly* use, that's just handheld mirrors. Same with clothing, or make-up bags. Most of his fans don't buy a make-up bag because they actually happen to need one and want to support him. It's because if they buy the newest one to "complete their collection" and post it, they might get retweeted by him. Which is like the saddest thing ever, but there you go....

Jeffree's brand definitely had a few products that were universally loved at the time - specifically his liquid lipsticks (in particular the shade Androgyny, I remember seeing that everywhere on YT/Insta) and Blood Sugar. I agree that everything post Blue Blood has been totally reliant on hype, not quality. I feel like that's a big part of why even his loyal fanbase is turning away from his products.

I remember really liking the J* concealer, however you didn't get a lot of product and I used it fast. The setting powder is okay. Not bad by any means but not the best ever. I will say his eyeshadow and lipsticks are incredible. I haven't supported him in a long time so I don't use them anymore anyway.

Idk what it was but if only queens are using it for performance makeup that’s not a very big community to rely on in comparison to regular makeup users Edit: I think it was the white concealer/the eyeliner? Nyx used to be in dollar stores! I stepped away from makeup for a few years and when I started getting back into it and saw that people were talking about nyx, I was so confused!!!

If you like it... use it... you are buying the product... not the person... in my opinion there's a lot of drama in media and some things are not true or are used for make more drama... i think that we all are shades of gray... theres no black of white. I have the Thirsty palette, the mini Jawbreaker palette, the Morphe brush collab and several (now very old) liquid lipsticks like Leo, Calabasas, (my faves) then I think Watermelon, Anna Nicole (way too patchy and neon) and some super dark purple glitter one (looked black when on so not my favorite). I’ve since switched to like Wet N Wild and ColourPop for more affordable liquid lipsticks that I don’t have to feel embarrassed to own. The two palettes are from a while back now but I feel awkward about the brushes but also don’t want to be wasteful and buy ones from another brand when they work perfectly fine. I own the KKW x Mario palette, the first one, and love it as well as the highlight palette (they mailed me this on accident so it was free) and the KKW x Kylie liquid lipstick set and I like all the products.
I’d say TH-camrs don’t feature them because they don’t want to receive hate but there are likely a lot who are on PR or use them off camera. I noticed Alissa Ashley has mentioned using KKW lipstick or gloss quickly in passing and I think maybe Manny MUA or Nicole Concilio have mentioned products in passing too but never really as a full video. People also dog Kim for all her palettes being so neutral but that’s also what makes it so convenient
I literally rewatch Angelikas videos at least twice. Once when I get the notification and then again and again when I can't sleep. 1. She's entertaining enough to rewatch and 2. If I fall asleep sis gets the money because I just let ads roll ❤
been obsessed with makeup since i was 14 and i’m now nearly 22, honestly the amount of makeup brands i feel like have fallen off and lost their touch. I miss the days when too faced palettes were the hype and everyone went CRAZY over ABH💔
I have to disagree with you on NYX, the packaging for the most part isn't flimsy or cheap looking and they do have some amazing products. You have to do a full face of NYX! :) I think you'd really like their born to glow range. Only thing that's weird about NYX is that they kind of have a split brand, they have their core products with normal packaging and then they have some "hype" makeup stuff that's very out there.
To be fair I've seen his liquid lipsticks in many favorites. But people just stopped buying his makeup after his stuff were exposed.. now let's be honest if any influencer used his makeup they'll be attacked so they stopped talking about him and his products EDIT: fixed a typo
The one thing I can say about bundles is, as someone who used to live in an area where it was very hard to get makeup (see a standard tube of Revlon lipstick costing anywhere from $8 to $23), it was helpful to grab bundles and buy them as a group so that we also split up the cost of the items between two to three people. However, that's a bit more of a unique situation.
I would say Sigma has make up brushes, but that's really all that interested me from them....so many brands seem to be dying but one really deserves it (JSC) lol
I’m sorry but I don’t agree. His concealers and powders are a flop, however, his eyeshadows and liquid lips are iconic. I don’t really care about drama and shit, I’m all the way from Bulgaria. I work in healthcare setting and before that I used to work in retail, his eyeshadow pallets and lip products are the only ones who would stay and not budge all damn day! I’m not lying I have no reason to. I had a 9 hour shift in a restaurant and his lipsticks didn’t budge at all!!! And I understand there are other less controversial brands but keep in mind international fees and unavailability in Eastern Europe. So I don’t care about J* I care that his products are really good quality. Sorry about the long message..
I like the eyeshadows but I don't buy them. The dude was genuinely passionate about makeup and it's good stuff. There's a lot of good drugstore stuff now so I've moved on but I think too many are ashamed to admit they like a product from a brand they don't like. Everyone acting so moral but probably have a dozen Nestle products in their home.
Idk why I feel so strongly about this but Nyx is a good brand?? Literally anything you are looking for, they have it regardless of skin type or style. And their prices are good too. We don’t really have any ultra cheap makeup brands here, so they are really on the cheapest side and quality is still nice. Bare with me collection is so good ✨
Their prices on some products are really great! But it’s weird seeing them be inconsistent with their price point. They sell $5 glosses and brow products, but also $20 primers and foundations and a $35 palette.
I think Nyx is good for people who can only afford drugstore make up, bc they seem/are higher quality than the really cheap brands, and with cooler products and marketing than the old-school drugstore brands like L'oreal or Maybelline?

Like their eyeliner is like 9€ and it’s great, but the primer I buy from them is 20€ and it’s a miracle product for me :D So I feel like they are being honest, not sticking to a price bcs of their ”brand”
@@kirakuroe I’m so happy to hear their products work so well for you! I personally love their lip glosses and lip liners, and their sweet cheeks blushes have my full attention. However, I worked in makeup manufacturing and so I’ve learned that makeup companies can still make a profit off of selling their products at 90% off, which is why the up price in cost for some of their products is unsettling.
I feel like people (especially the more well-known beauty gurus) simply don't support the person behind the brand and don't want to talk about it & him. I have a couple of JS products and they are pretty good, really. I'm not a fan of the owner, but if I have to talk about formulation, packaging and overall product performance - personally I'm pretty pleased.
okay there was a time when liquid lipsticks actually were a bit of a “new” idea and j*ffree was one of the first brands to push that trend forward. it also was his most innovative product-making a white shade that could brighten any other lip color or could be used on the eye etc. then the focus of the brand moved from innovation to collection hoarding as you mentioned. i think this actually a big reason his brand flopped. even if none of the drama happened or problematic stuff never surfaced, it’s a weak foundation to keep a brand afloat on.
The one thing I have to say about JSC is that in the early 2010s it felt like he was the ONLY person doing interesting colours in lipsticks. Now that other brands have caught on and are doing more colours than just reds, pinks and nudes, there's no point going to JSC but back in the DAY it felt like Weirdo was the best black lipstick on the market. The only other black lipsticks I can really remember from that time were in bullet form, and it was easier to get a really good sharp line with the liquid formula (plus finding a black lipliner was really difficult - most people I know used kohl or just straight up liquid liner) I don't doubt there were other brands DOING all the interesting colours (MAC definitely comes to mind, but they're not CF which has always been a dealbreaker for me), but JSC always felt like the most accessible out of them. He's pretty much exhausted all the interesting colours he can put out now though, so there's no reason to go to him anymore.
Even for the people who bought Jeffree star cosmetics, people are boycotting support for him so nobody wants to say when they use his products, and rightfully so. (I had 5 of his palettes but I wouldn’t support him now so I just have to try and use the money already spent)
i feel like the reason the abh powder highlighters around 17:50 are still on sale is because they're a set and one person isn't going to be able to wear all three shades !!
When I think of sigma, I think of brushes! I’m always surprised when the release eyeshadow palettes the rose one looked nice but then I remembers that I have the macaron eyeshadow palette and the quality isn’t that great (so I gave it to my 4 year old daughter to play with) 😅

As someone who has the stoned vibes palette you are so right. You really have to treat them like pressed glitters and use glitter glue or else it just doesn't work which is fine if you want to put in the extra effort but most times I don't lol. The shades are so pretty though I wish they were more usable.

Nyx has really bad packaging but some products are really good! I have the mini Phoenix palette and it's very handy. Also their liquid lipsticks are really pigmented and last a lot.

I don’t think she’s dissing the quality- the color stories are extremely tacky and I see a lot of people reselling used palettes on Mercari, depop, poshmark, and ebay. The average person who wears makeup isn’t going to get a Jeffree Star palette.
They won't. If you want that, keep looking for it on Mercari or Posh. Somebody will sell one they never used, or if you choose, you can sterilize a used one and buy it for a song.

I just watched your most recent video on this too. I hope you make more of these. I do love the Jafar Starfish concealer though. Very high coverage. I feel like his eyeshadow palettes were really good quality prior to say, Bloodlust. The Alien palette is incredible and I love mine. However I'm due for a concealer overhaul, since summer is coming, so I might scrap it. Been wanting to try Glossier and Il Makiage concealers, and the Tarte Creaseless concealer as well
I own the mini hourglass palette and I really enjoy it. I will point out tho that all of the shades in the palette have been in two previous versions so a lot of the diehard hourglass stans probs already have them. I only got into their powders last year so that’s why I picked it up. I do agree that they need to expand their inclusivity.
i tend to like layering highlighters so a highlighting palette is fun. i'm a makeup mixer so i mix everything to get the perfect color instead of buying multiple singles of colors i like, if that makes sense
not necessarily, meaning they have their basic products for which they are very popular but I think you should test more products, many of them are underrated
I’m doing makeup in college and the BH highlights are great but like you say I remove them from the packaging and put them in an empty magnetic palette 🙂
I have the Urban Decay Stoned Vibes Eyeshadow Palette and I absolutely love it, the shimmers are so beautiful and bright and the white shade it has very fine shimmers and it's perfect for an everyday look. For me, the only shade that's not as good from the palette is the bottom right shade called "third eye" since is not very pigmented, but for a soft look is fine. I'm from Barcelona and it actually sold out for Christmas.
I agree about the NYX packaging, it's a shame too because a lot of their products really are amazing- my favourites are the mascaras, skin tint, and eyebrow pencils.
Sigma is known for their brushes of course. The brushes are great and the Untamed palette is gorgeous! I still feel Sigma's eyeshadows do not get enough hype.
i've been wanting the stoned vibes palette since it dropped but I'm waiting for it to end up at tjmaxx so i can get it cheap. i saw they released new eyeliners for like 22 dollars recently. i liked the colors but there's no way I'm paying that much for a liner. i was honestly shocked they priced it so high. the brand seems to be dying out so I'm not sure why they think people will want to buy a 22 dollar eyeliner from them??
The NYX thing about packaging is so true! I use a lot of drugstore and probably only have two "higher end" makeup products I bought myself (aside from MAC brush hand me downs) and only my NYX palette has broken. I have that small colorful palette of theirs and the lid came clean off one day. I haven't used it since. I'm thinking of turning the shadows into lipglosses (because why not? could be fun). I do love their Lip Lingerie's and Lip Suede's. They've had the best formula for me aside from Colourpop.
I disagree about jeffree star products, maybe in uk they are not popular, but I can say that in Italy people are loving them and influencers are showing his products in the videos of their most favourites of the year. The eyeshadows are something incredible, the choice of colours and the quality is just stunning and very original. Also, if a product is on sale it does not mean that is bad. We are living in a crisis, it's been 1 year people are not working and worrying about saving money, so I believe that's what happened.

They have decided, after some years and a lot of requests from people to bring it back, to make it again. The Two faced pumpkin pie palette is actually amazing and the people that have bought it enjoy it more often than not. I love it. I wish the overall two faced formula would be like this palette. It's worth it
I really love the J* concealer and I really would like to keep buying it forever, I never watch or read about celebrities and Don’t know anything about and dont care, I also love mate liquid lipsticks and my favorite are from Lime Crime but most of the time they are sold out in my country and dont have all shades available so for greens, black and dark purples I have to buy J* sometimes the formula is not that good but the colors are really pretty

I own the KKW x Mario palette, the first one, and love it as well as the highlight palette (they mailed me this on accident so it was free) and the KKW x Kylie liquid lipstick set and I like all the products.
I’d say TH-camrs don’t feature them because they don’t want to receive hate but there are likely a lot who are on PR or use them off camera. I noticed Alissa Ashley has mentioned using KKW lipstick or gloss quickly in passing and I think maybe Manny MUA or Nicole Concilio have mentioned products in passing too but never really as a full video. People also dog Kim for all her palettes being so neutral but that’s also what makes it so convenient
I literally rewatch Angelikas videos at least twice. Once when I get the notification and then again and again when I can't sleep. 1. She's entertaining enough to rewatch and 2. If I fall asleep sis gets the money because I just let ads roll ❤

I have to disagree with you on NYX, the packaging for the most part isn't flimsy or cheap looking and they do have some amazing products.
You have to do a full face of NYX! :) I think you'd really like their born to glow range.
Only thing that's weird about NYX is that they kind of have a split brand, they have their core products with normal packaging and then they have some "hype" makeup stuff that's very out there.
To be fair I've seen his liquid lipsticks in many favorites. But people just stopped buying his makeup after his stuff were exposed.. now let's be honest if any influencer used his makeup they'll be attacked so they stopped talking about him and his products

The one thing I can say about bundles is, as someone who used to live in an area where it was very hard to get makeup (see a standard tube of Revlon lipstick costing anywhere from $8 to $23), it was helpful to grab bundles and buy them as a group so that we also split up the cost of the items between two to three people. However, that's a bit more of a unique situation.

I’m sorry but I don’t agree. His concealers and powders are a flop, however, his eyeshadows and liquid lips are iconic. I don’t really care about drama and shit, I’m all the way from Bulgaria. I work in healthcare setting and before that I used to work in retail, his eyeshadow pallets and lip products are the only ones who would stay and not budge all damn day! I’m not lying I have no reason to. I had a 9 hour shift in a restaurant and his lipsticks didn’t budge at all!!! And I understand there are other less controversial brands but keep in mind international fees and unavailability in Eastern Europe. So I don’t care about J* I care that his products are really good quality.

I like the eyeshadows but I don't buy them. The dude was genuinely passionate about makeup and it's good stuff. There's a lot of good drugstore stuff now so I've moved on but I think too many are ashamed to admit they like a product from a brand they don't like. Everyone acting so moral but probably have a dozen Nestle products in their home.

Idk why I feel so strongly about this but Nyx is a good brand?? Literally anything you are looking for, they have it regardless of skin type or style. And their prices are good too. We don’t really have any ultra cheap makeup brands here, so they are really on the cheapest side and quality is still nice. Bare with me collection is so good ✨
Their prices on some products are really great! But it’s weird seeing them be inconsistent with their price point. They sell $5 glosses and brow products, but also $20 primers and foundations and a $35 palette.
I think Nyx is good for people who can only afford drugstore make up, bc they seem/are higher quality than the really cheap brands, and with cooler products and marketing than the old-school drugstore brands like L'oreal or Maybelline?
@@ruemah I like that about them though :) You get a feeling they charge what the product is actually worth. Like their eyeliner is like 9€ and it’s great, but the primer I buy from them is 20€ and it’s a miracle product for me :D So I feel like they are being honest, not sticking to a price bcs of their ”brand”
@@kirakuroe I’m so happy to hear their products work so well for you! I personally love their lip glosses and lip liners, and their sweet cheeks blushes have my full attention. However, I worked in makeup manufacturing and so I’ve learned that makeup companies can still make a profit off of selling their products at 90% off, which is why the up price in cost for some of their products is unsettling.
I feel like people (especially the more well-known beauty gurus) simply don't support the person behind the brand and don't want to talk about it & him. I have a couple of JS products and they are pretty good, really. I'm not a fan of the owner, but if I have to talk about formulation, packaging and overall product performance - personally I'm pretty pleased.

okay there was a time when liquid lipsticks actually were a bit of a “new” idea and j*ffree was one of the first brands to push that trend forward. it also was his most innovative product-making a white shade that could brighten any other lip color or could be used on the eye etc. then the focus of the brand moved from innovation to collection hoarding as you mentioned. i think this actually a big reason his brand flopped. even if none of the drama happened or problematic stuff never surfaced, it’s a weak foundation to keep a brand afloat on.

The one thing I have to say about JSC is that in the early 2010s it felt like he was the ONLY person doing interesting colours in lipsticks. Now that other brands have caught on and are doing more colours than just reds, pinks and nudes, there's no point going to JSC but back in the DAY it felt like Weirdo was the best black lipstick on the market.
The only other black lipsticks I can really remember from that time were in bullet form, and it was easier to get a really good sharp line with the liquid formula (plus finding a black lipliner was really difficult - most people I know used kohl or just straight up liquid liner) I don't doubt there were other brands DOING all the interesting colours (MAC definitely comes to mind, but they're not CF which has always been a dealbreaker for me), but JSC always felt like the most accessible out of them. He's pretty much exhausted all the interesting colours he can put out now though, so there's no reason to go to him anymore.
I have to say the blood sugar pallet was always sold out and so many people talked about it again and again

When I think of sigma, I think of brushes! I’m always surprised when the release eyeshadow palettes the rose one looked nice but then I remembers that I have the macaron eyeshadow palette and the quality isn’t that great (so I gave it to my 4 year old daughter to play with) 😅

As someone who has the stoned vibes palette you are so right. You really have to treat them like pressed glitters and use glitter glue or else it just doesn't work which is fine if you want to put in the extra effort but most times I don't lol. The shades are so pretty though I wish they were more usable.

Nyx has really bad packaging but some products are really good! I have the mini Phoenix palette and it's very handy. Also their liquid lipsticks are really pigmented and last a lot.

I don’t think she’s dissing the quality- the color stories are extremely tacky and I see a lot of people reselling used palettes on Mercari, depop, poshmark, and ebay. The average person who wears makeup isn’t going to get a Jeffree Star palette.

I just watched your most recent video on this too. I hope you make more of these. I do love the Jafar Starfish concealer though. Very high coverage. I feel like his eyeshadow palettes were really good quality prior to say, Bloodlust. The Alien palette is incredible and I love mine. However I'm due for a concealer overhaul, since summer is coming, so I might scrap it. Been wanting to try Glossier and Il Makiage concealers, and the Tarte Creaseless concealer as well

I own the mini hourglass palette and I really enjoy it. I will point out tho that all of the shades in the palette have been in two previous versions so a lot of the diehard hourglass stans probs already have them. I only got into their powders last year so that’s why I picked it up. I do agree that they need to expand their inclusivity.

i tend to like layering highlighters so a highlighting palette is fun. i'm a makeup mixer so i mix everything to get the perfect color instead of buying multiple singles of colors i like, if that makes sense

I have the Urban Decay Stoned Vibes Eyeshadow Palette and I absolutely love it, the shimmers are so beautiful and bright and the white shade it has very fine shimmers and it's perfect for an everyday look. For me, the only shade that's not as good from the palette is the bottom right shade called "third eye" since is not very pigmented, but for a soft look is fine. I'm from Barcelona and it actually sold out for Christmas.
I agree about the NYX packaging, it's a shame too because a lot of their products really are amazing- my favourites are the mascaras, skin tint, and eyebrow pencils.
Sigma is known for their brushes of course. The brushes are great and the Untamed palette is gorgeous! I still feel Sigma's eyeshadows do not get enough hype.
i've been wanting the stoned vibes palette since it dropped but I'm waiting for it to end up at tjmaxx so i can get it cheap. i saw they released new eyeliners for like 22 dollars recently. i liked the colors but there's no way I'm paying that much for a liner. i was honestly shocked they priced it so high. the brand seems to be dying out so I'm not sure why they think people will want to buy a 22 dollar eyeliner from them??

The NYX thing about packaging is so true! I use a lot of drugstore and probably only have two "higher end" makeup products I bought myself (aside from MAC brush hand me downs) and only my NYX palette has broken. I have that small colorful palette of theirs and the lid came clean off one day. I haven't used it since. I'm thinking of turning the shadows into lipglosses (because why not? could be fun). I do love their Lip Lingerie's and Lip Suede's. They've had the best formula for me aside from Colourpop.
Stila has a fantastic liquid liner! I swear by it.
I disagree about jeffree star products, maybe in uk they are not popular, but I can say that in Italy people are loving them and influencers are showing his products in the videos of their most favourites of the year. The eyeshadows are something incredible, the choice of colours and the quality is just stunning and very original. Also, if a product is on sale it does not mean that is bad. We are living in a crisis, it's been 1 year people are not working and worrying about saving money, so I believe that's what happened.

I really love the J* concealer and I really would like to keep buying it forever, I never watch or read about celebrities and Don’t know anything about and dont care, I also love mate liquid lipsticks and my favorite are from Lime Crime but most of the time they are sold out in my country and dont have all shades available so for greens, black and dark purples I have to buy J* sometimes the formula is not that good but the colors are really pretty
