I dunno where you’re from but you can get xb9/xb12 for $3-4k all day here. If I had more $$ I’d own more than 1. Not rare or expensive. Also sac up, parts are not hard to find and if you worked at a Harley dealer I would hope you know how to work on them. If you are mechanically declined, go buy a $40k Harley with a warranty that will break faster than a 20yo buell. Ebc makes all the brake parts and they are readily available and if you know the belt part number you can get them at the local auto parts store. The only stuff hard to find sometimes* is body parts if you dump it. Fb has buell used parts pages with everything you need. This video is like saying “I won’t buy an old muscle car cause parts are out of production”. I got a 2003 with 32k miles and the only thing wrong is a small oil leak from the clutch cable into the case which just hasn’t been bad enough to justify fixing yet.

Canada. I wish I could find Buells for that price now. I used to about 5 years ago, but not lately. People think they're gold or something now. I almost bought one 5 years ago but was told to stay away from them due to lack of available parts. Because I felt I didn't get the whole truth, I made a couple videos to have a discussion about Buells and basically network. I work at a HD dealer, yes, however I am no mechanic. "Mechanically declined", lol. Never heard that before. I definitely can't afford that type of bike. You'd be financing it for 10 years! I'll have to check into EBC for my customers as well then. Thanks for the heads up! It's always going to be difficult to get parts, but I never said impossible. If there's a will, there's a way. When parts become scarce, or overpriced for that reason, then yes, I will definitely shy away from something like an old muscle car, especially when I'm a fan of stuff from the 30s, 40s, 50s and even the 60s. Project builds are fun, but not always worth it. Thanks for sharing!

I’m currently looking for a mint example of the 2008 xb12 SCG in cherry bomb red. Had a 2007 xb9sx and currently own a 2005 xb12s. Hunting down parts is a drag I’ll admit but well worth the trouble. A buell Xb is one of those rare things that makes absolutely no sense. On paper it looks nuts but I’m glade it exists. I normally have several motorcycles at at time but my buell is the show piece. I have bikes that are better in every conceivable way than the buell but I don’t care. A buell will always be my number one. Most long time owners will agree and that’s why the prices are going up. I personally believe they are way undervalued. If you get it you get it. I understand it’s not for everyone though. Bike are toys here in the west and I like interesting toys.

Good points. I like the XB9, but the idea of parts becoming unavailable is a major concern. Some of the elements that make them unique, are what will cost you, if they break. That brake rotor, the exhaust, etc. Shame that Harley took them into the fold and then flushed the whole operation. I had high hopes for the two company model.

It's definitely a sweet bike. A couple of guys I know through work who own them purposely don't ride them because of the parts availability. One of them actually recommended I buy a Sportster over a Buell. Unless of course the Buell is $2k CAD. Then it's quite the deal. But for $3k CAD I'm lucky to even get a Sportster these days. Prices online are rising to amounts that make no sense. As for the companies working together. It's a shame. Harley could have released Buells with their new Rev Max engine platform.

I don't believe Harley currently offers what Buell did and that's why I made this video. To highlight the bike I want yet also show the reasons why I don't own it. @@BehindTheEnthusiast we can disagree. It's ok. I don't mean any harm to you. I see your vantage point in this but I'll just disagree. Business partner is different than significant other. Woman friend. Lover. There are lots of alternate words but gays took the word parner long long ago. Before it was cool to be gay even.
Curious though are you a "cis" man? If you don't know congrats on ignoring the idiots until now.
I will not be called a "cis" man either with out major objection.
Nor will I just sit back and allow the normalization of such terms with out objection and push back.
Not trying to have a pissing match with you at all just explaining the "why" part.

@@irocss85 Absolutely man. We can disagree on some things and still respect one another. More my personal preference of label and my cousin has used it for her (now) husband. It's weird when you're older and still using that terminology. So I find older people use "partner" as a mature label. It's respectable if you ask me. For sure, but I don't believe an individual or group has rights to one specific thing. We can use it as we see fit, especially when it comes to showing respect. I'm aware of the term but I don't acknowledge it whatsoever like you. I'm in total agreement with you on that one. A man is a man. Male, boy, lad. Definitely gotta fight for certain things these days or the world will get worse for future generations. It's all good man. I respect the conversation a lot, it's very refreshing. Two dudes talkin it out as if they're just chillin by the lake fishing and drinkin beers. So we disagreed on one thing. We also agree on the question you brought up. I appreciate the conversation. 👍

Oh waaah used bikes may not have rear pegs .Thats one of several uneducated reasons to trash a particular make of motorcycle. It makes total sense you work at a dealership, You THINK you know what your talking about, no real world experience internet guy & worse you make videos. 🤬

Uneducated? Check yourself before you wreck yourself mr keyboard warrior. I know more than what I say in videos for entertainment. Your comments and views just make the video gain traction. If I actually misspoke or made a legit mistake I own up to it. And as someone who is a purist, I like stock bikes and even cars when I'm buying them. It's most definitely a valid reason for not wanting to buy something. In no way am I bashing the make or model, just pointing out what they've become in the used market here in Canada.
