Dude you rock! I have a 97 Celica with a 7A-FE engine. But the process is identical. Your cool video guided me through the whole process of changing all my belts and the alternator. No way I could have done it without you.
I was unaware of the tensioning bolt under the alternator, watching this video saved me the time and hassle of having to work it out for myself. Cheers.
Great video . Thank you bro . You have solved my problem . Not even I found the faulty tensor but I was able to diy . I didn't change the whole tensioner but just the bearing cost me 3 dollars 😃 You made my day . Now I can sleep.
Im trying to replace this on my car but when i start it it starts to make a noise and the plate on the inside starta smoking because of the friction. Is there something else on the inside or just the plate? Need this information very fast! 😬
is the alternator on a 4E-FE Starlet from 1998 the same? I'm not needing to replace mine but I want to change the belt, and that bastard of an engine is more complicated than the Celica I'm used to, has 2 belts and the alternator is hidden well behind deep in the bay lol seems like it needs to be worked on from under the car
the same thing happened to my cuz car the bearings fell out damaging the nut. the nut and bolts snapped/broke due to rust and corrosion, where would i get replacement hardware??? thanks for the awesome video, this is the only video i could find on this particular idle pulley.
is it necessary to have the accessory belt installed to run/drive the car? I think that same pulley is bad on my car and I need to drive to get the the part.
You should make a note reminding people to start the engine just for a moment like you did (without the accessories/auxiliary belt), or they may damage the engine because there is no cooling fluid circulating in the engine and equalizing the temperature throughout the engine block.
Thanks Hélder, I have added a warning to the description with your point. For me it seemed obvious, but it is always better to be safe than sorry! Abraco!
João Rocha da Silva Yes. For me it's also obvious, but may not be for total beginners. Sometimes people forget the most basic things. Nontheless, your video was already AWESOME :) And now, with the warning, it's even better :D Abraço!
I have a question is the belt tensioner pulley supposed to spin also along with the two other spiners, because mine just looks stiff and just rubs on it.. Time for a change I think.. Please respond when you get a chance.
It's a bit more than this...the tensioner bolt and the locking bolt screws into a slider block (part number 16385-15030). You also haven't mentioned the torque settings required for the locking bolt. I have been struggling for weeks trying to get it tight enough (after snapping 2 bolts). 40nm is too much, but 27nm isn't enough. it loosens and starts making noise!
Good luck getting that ac belt tensioner off when the nut is rounded out. I had to cut that nut off with a dremel tool carefully in order to replace the tensioner idler wheel. :{

Do you have a video that explains timing belt replacement?
is it necessary to have the accessory belt installed to run/drive the car? I think that same pulley is bad on my car and I need to drive to get the the part.

Hi
thanks for the tutorial.
Is it possible to change only the airco belt and not the distribution belt?
