Just came to this park for the first time completely unaware of it and followed Ranger trail thinking it was going to be like other easy DORBA trails and boy was I wrong. About half way to it we had to scram off to a side street in the distance through the brush and ride to our cars, which was still a challenge since the trailhead is in the mountain and we had to go up there in our bikes. The fact there was a heat advisory out was the frosting on the cake.

When we first started riding, we had a similar experience, by the grace of God we didn’t die out there. Now we can clean most of Big Cedar, and it’s one of our favorite trail systems! But, it’s definitely an area where we keep for sub 85 (temp or humid) because it gets so brutal. Easily one of the most challenging trail systems in DFW. Where else have you ridden?

Wasn’t my finest lap on Ranger. Pouring sweat, gasping for air, and a couple of moments of really poor technique. Still one of my all time favorites!
