- Hey guys OSG here with a playthrough. Ive not been well over the last week or so so have done a straight forward playthrough as i have sore throat. Anyway if you gonna do a playthrough you might as well do one that has a kickass sound track and this game has what i would say is Rob Hubbards best.
Monty on the Run is a super hard game though but one that is worth playing through with the great collision detection, lovely flowing gameplay and that music...wow
Normal service will resolve this week as far as videos go as I'm feeling much better now
One of the best work by Rob Hubbard. The first time I heart it, I fell down my chair...
Yeah the key changes in this tune are truly awesome i never get tired of it
This game. This music. It all makes me nervous in the best way!!!
Yeah i know exactly what you mean mate, the music is perfect for this game adds a real sense of frantic urgency
@@oldstylegaming yeah, sounds great. But the graphics... Oh god! give me a machine gun. Someone puked on your monitor/tv.
This game takes me right back to a friend's house in 1985 as a 12 year old lad, very fond memories. This and the commando games are my favourite Rob Hubbard tunes. Alongside the epyx summer and winter games Monty on the run was the reason I got a commodore 64 (for Xmas obviously) 😬 wow the nostalgia is off the scale watching this. Emotional stuff for sure. Can still picture the zapp 64 advert on the tape loading screen 👍🏻
Hubbard was a genius.
God, you're spot on about the tune. Listening to it now, it's almost like Hubbard invented some bizarre genre of Eastern Euro techno about 20 years early lol.
The music for this game is my favourite C64 track by a long, long way - it's absolutely epic!
True...its maybe the best SID music ever and although it shouldnt it just fits the game perfectly
Deffo in my top 5. Turbo Outrun, Batman the movie, Turrican 1&2 are also up there.
old style gaming Hubbard had so many......The Last V8, Master of Magic, and Paperboy come to mind
@@patsfan4life I might actually do a video on that
My favourite SID tune of all time and Monty is soo cute!
MasterPiece di Rob Hubbard, una opera SID d'arte senza tempo, melodia immortale di un tempo immortale.
Absolute classic. I'm new to your channel and grew up with this game.
Thanks for coming to my channel ive been a bit quiet over the last week or so but feeling a bit better now so will start getting some more stuff on....but yeah its a classic
Great Walkthrough missing a couple of items, but great none the less and lovely music from Ron so good playing this loud.
Epic music, very neo-classical in parts love it
It's a good un
This was always Mr Hubbards best track. Great run through BTW.
Yeah I like this one best
best music and best game that was made for c64
The tune really comes alive at the ~2:20 mark. A few interruptions from sound effects, but the brilliance of Rob Hubbard and the SID chip is still very much evident. The C64 was way ahead of its time, and not just because of its legendary audio.
Awesome playthrough. I had to watch it all just so I could keep listening to the incredible music. Can't believe the 3 dolts that have downvoted the video - go figure!!!
Lol probably people who never got past the house lol
@@oldstylegaming he he he :)
The music is some of the best the SID chip can perform! The genius of the game and music design is it makes you stress, which makes the game extremely difficult and frustrating. If you just take it
slow and plan your moves through each screen it's not so bad. Although I always thought it's a pretty crap game, even back then.
I dont know about crap...its a platform game that ticks all the usual boxes...but does the game live up to the music...no where near
Worth it for the music alone
Interesting to see a SINCLAIR C5 in a Commodore game. Guess it's a straight port from the spectrum with added funky music.
You can always rely on Rob Hubbard to deliver the good when it comes to music. This is definitely a tune and a half.
Glad to hear you're doing better mate, looking forward to the next videos!
Yeah he was a SID God in the C64
One of the first games i bought for the C64. i only got the the sinclair c5 once. quick tip - try typing "i love madonna" (hey i was a teenager!) on the high score screen.
Great tune. Shame his old mums cupboards were always bare and poor little doggy had none.
GG! I remember being a bit miffed when I saw the Speccy like gfx but the tune! Yeah, one of Hubbards greats I'd say :)
This and Sanxion !!!
Cuphead for the Commodore 64!
Jeepers that is an amazing tune, genius.. and OSG not far behind with his brilliant run-through ;)
Lol thanks but I'm far from his talent
Montys of the World unite!
This game is on Nintendo Switch in the Monty Mole collection
Man i hated this game and loved it at the same time and yeah the music is still stand out today. Great vid man catch you on the next one :-)
That has to be the SID chip pushed to its limits surely
"Drive Sir Clive's C5" :D:D:D
Loved this game. Never heard the C64 version though. Can imagine this played by a live band!
This is Rob Hubbard and it's defo one of the best SID tunes ever ...I use it in so many intro videos as it's a great backdrop tune
Been played live by bands ploads of times from pop, rock and even an orchestra. All on TH-cam, look them up.
@@retrovertigoes Just been looking, some good ones out.
@@8-BitRach having it LARGE 🎶🎵🎶
@@AllOuttaBubblegum123 I need somebody to organise an 8bit Rave lol
Love that tune :) Game is also a lot longer than I thought it was lol. That was a pretty good playthrough dude, how much did you play it to get that good at it?
I only really started playing it this year after Sinisteve asked me to do a walkthrough I have finished it a few times now there are some tricky parts especially where I lost lives
@@oldstylegaming Yeah some of the bits (even ones you didn't die on) looked sketchy as hell lol
Earworm: Engage!!!
Get well soon!
Better now mate firing on all cylinders
Awesome music! But the Amiga version is top.. I listen it in my car ..
I know this is sacrilege , but i never liked this game, but it is worth watching just for the music
I think once you get the hang of it its not so bad. some of the timings are insanely hard especially getting the coin on the right hand in the second jetpack screen ...but then the music makes it worth playing too
old style gaming Like The Last V8, probably not very memorable without Hubbards soundtrack...
Music reminds me of invadaload 👍
Hubbard did that too
Just when you thought it was safe to make a cup of tea...
Why doesn’t the beginning part sound like the original? It sounds sort of different, like a different channel is used
hmmm im not sure what you mean
No copyright claim??
Yeah mate, but im sharing the revenue ;-)
@@oldstylegaming Ah I get ya. Great play through though. I was absolutely rubbish at this.
lol it will rake in about 20p lol
old style gaming there is a publishing house still making claims to this??
Pretty similar to Jet Set Willy.
TRY SEARCHING RON HUBBARD ON SPOTIFY OR C64 GAME MUSIC sorry for the caps
