For example; the food in Minas Gerais is very different from the food in Bahia, even though those states border each other. And the food in Brazil is vastly different from the food in Mexico... peace.
+Beatriz but for some reason (not sure why) why you said "mexican & south American food", you alienated like the Hispanics in the Caribbean. oh. & mexico is not the only place in central America. the good in Guatemala and El Salvador is completely different from the food in Mexico.... but tbh we are all one people weather you think we caribean Hispanics are "wayyyy" different. youve got pasteles in PR.. & tamales in Mexico, the the sweet and regular tamales are also in Guatemala. sisters are basically like tamales but sweet and Guatemalan's sweet version (tamales dulces) is a lot similar to pasteles
What he actually said was "I know Mexican food really well" because he is Mexican. He wasn't just some white guy lumping all hispanics together, he was just comparing it to what he knew as a reference point.

I'm Puerto Rican and I love my country's food and I think is amazing. Cuban food is out of this world. I went there once and I liked everything that I ate. Those Croquetas but with fish are to die for. Also, I think they have the best malta.

We have been starting to get a few decent Mexican places, though.
Depends on location of the individual and their thought process. Like most people I talk to about Cuban food thought it was the same as Mexican food. I just reply that it all depends on the influence that makes the 2 different. Like Cuban food has French. Mexican food has Mayan or what ever Indians in that region (don't know much about Mexican history). It also depends on what's easily available there.

+ID0ntUnderstand the traditional Cuban style black beans and rice (not the same thing as rice and beans) is prepared sooooooooooo specifically it's not "just" a staple. They slow cook the beans in a ton of spices and garlic that the flavor is specific, super recognizable and seriously the first thing I think of when I think of Cuban food. It's not really a big deal, just so surprised it wasn't one of things tried.
These are all staples in Miami cuisine.

This is all stuff that I have on the daily I live in Miami
As a musical performer I had the privilege to travel to Cuba this past summer before the embargo was over and stay for two weeks while doing performances regularly. I also tasted a LOT of new foods. And sadly, this is quite a misinformed video in my opinion. If you want to try Cuban food, you really have to go to Cuba. The only thing I saw on her that was accurate was the Croquettas, and the coffee. In Cuba they mostly drink off brand Coke, and red bull, or different mixed drinks with Rum. The yucca in Cuba has a much more orange tinge to it, and is extremely sweet, and served with sweet apple butter. The Cubans also never drink coffee by itself. when you order coffee it is always served with warm salted bread, that you dip in the coffee. The "Cubana sandwich" is really just an American interpretation of what real sandwiches are in Cuba, which mostly consist of pork. A real Cuban diet is pretty much, salt,bread,rice,beans. Id love to see a vid of them eating authentic Cuban food. Thx!

I'm from Havana and we still drink our coffee with just sugar...my mom drinks it with no sugar and just black. Also, I go pretty much every year and have family over there still and we have never had any apple butter? I'm curious about the part of Cuba that you went to.

+HPheroette I went to Havana, Cinefuegos, Trinidad, and several others, and then ended again in Havana. The coffee however I was basing on my time in Trinidad, and I do recall the hotel in Havana just had cream and sugar like you said.

Why will they eat Mexican food when that food is everywhere? We need to let them try other cultures too is not all about Mexico and their so common food. They like it when they try somethjng different and unique!

I bet you they've never tried or heard of mulitas, huaraches, atolé, champurrado, albondigas de queso, etc. there are many Mexican dishes that they hardly make here in the U.S so I'm sure they'd be surprised by trying your "non-basic" Mexican food
This is definitely one of the better food episodes because the reactions seem more down to earth. When I see some videos of this nature, I can't look at it for 3 seconds because while the staged reactions might be funny to some people, it turns me right off because I came here to learn about and appreciate foods I may not have seen before. I want to try foods like these because I see other people enjoy them (and they look great) and the people here genuinely had a good time sampling the Cuban food.
When you make these kinds of food videos, you're representing a country and a culture (or cultures). I appreciate the respect shown towards it in this video. Even the stuff some people didn't like was handled well and I enjoyed watching! I come here sometimes when I want something happy and uplifting to watch.
My entire family is cuban and if anyone is wondering yuca is a type of root and Croqueta is pretty much ham with fried breading around it

My mom and grandma’s cooking is the only real cuban food I’ve ever had. I’m 50% cuban and going to a mostly white school in an area where there aren’t many places with real cuban food. So people genuinely enjoying the food I grew up with makes me smile. I was a 4 year old drinking this coffee 😂

When the Asian dude said that he knows Mexican food really well, I don't even think he's had the traditional foods we have besides tacos, burritos, or any mainstream mexican food that's been Americanized.

Cuban coffee is usually half milk and half coffee. I really love Cuban food. The Cuban sandwich was invented in the early 1900s by cuban and italian cigar workers in the Ybor City part of Tampa Florida and was usually heated under a broiler. It is not from Cuba. The sandwich was never flattened until the 70s when the broiler broke at a restaurant and so they heated them on the grill with an iron skillet to weigh them down. Within a year or so the flattened ones became popular. Then in the 90s they started using a Panini griller.
