+Smashton Are you Romaniote? There are not many left. There is an American-Jewish guy I know from New York, who is of Romaniote background, though. It used to drive him crazy because both American Jews and Israeli Jews would confuse Romaniote Jews (the Jewish population that lived in Greece before the Sephardic Jews came in 1492) with Romanian Jews. He'd say he was Romaniote Jewish -- and people would say "Oh, from where in Romania?" and then he'd say "No, we are Greek Jews" and then some people would just be confused (not knowing that there were any Jews at all in Greece) and others who knew just a little bit more would say "Greek Jewish? So you're Sephardic!" To make it more confusing, his wife was actually Romanian (half Romanian non-Jewish and half Romanian-Jewish) so their kids were Romaniote *AND* Romanian.

I was once walking in downtown NYC and some jewish lady looked and laughed at me and said "the eighties called they want their shirt back." I said "the forties called, your showers ready."

this foods are mostly ashkenasi, i as an ashkenazi enjoy them but spharadi jews eat totally differently and just as an information, real rugalach are totally different and way better!!!
EHUDI, Food shown in the clip is not "Jewish" food. This is an AMERICAN food. American "gefilte fish" is like American Jews - no smell, no look, no taste. If you were offered REAL Jewish food we've pull you away by your ears from the table. Why the commentaries at Jewish clips are mostly from the idiots?
+Meirstein You know what's really a great idea? Jews attacking each other, because the rest of humanity loves us SO MUCH. What's that saying? A house divided can not fall, right? :)
Most of these foods have so much variation that two preparations of the same dish can taste almost nothing like each other. Usually, you like your mother's. :) Gefilte fish: This tastes really different if it's served hot or cold. It can also be made with different fish as ingredients. Kugel: The kugel they had was noodle kugel, but I think they'd have been better off with potato kugel. Various foods with little in common other than being flat and baked/cooked in a pan are called "kugel," for example, luckshin (noodle) kugel, potato kugel, apple kugel, and Yerushalmi kugel (different noodles, dark and spicy). I think Yerushalmi has the most consistent taste - the others vary a lot. I would also like to note that non-Hasidic Jews also eat kugel, knowledge or lack thereof about mystical powers notwithstanding. Chopped liver: The look might put you off if you're not used to it, but it tastes good. (Rugelach: Heh. There was no way anyone was going to dislike those.) Manischewitz: That's just a brand of wine, not a traditional Jewish drink... There are many other Jewish wine brands - if you're a wine afficionado, I'd suggest the Baron Herzog line. If you want to know what Jewish people who aren't wine afficionados drink, you can also go with Kedem. Finally, these foods are all from the Ashkenazic tradition (Western European Jews). Sephardic food is nothing like it
I'm not Jewish but My mother worked for Jewish families so I've always had these foods around, as a youth I was stand off-ish but as an adult I love the stuff
1 gefilte dish only tastes good if it's home made 2 the only good kind of Kugel is potato Kugel 3 MATZA BALL SOUP IS AMAZING 4 only the REALLY old ppl eat chopped liver 5 YUMMMM 6 I don't even know anyone who has had that YOU MISSED ALL THE BEST FOODS

+Dylan Seidel It's not white people food. IT'S JEWISH FOOD! When are people going to realize that Jews are not white. Jews can have white skin or if they are a convert they can be genetically white but for the most part most Jews are genetically different from from white people and our DNA can be traced back to the middle east.
I do admit, Israel has some damn good pastries. I remember when I was in Jerusalem on Friday before Shabbat began and all the bakeries were PACKED. It was awesome. The pastries are delicious too. Especially the challah bread. Now I wanna go back to Israel. It's so beautiful there! Especially seeing the Western Wall on Shabbat! What an unforgettable experience and I would love to go back someday.
I'm both Sephardic and Ashkenazic. My favorite "Jewish" foods are Challah, matzah ball soup, hummus etc. I'm part Turkish and I'm trying to be more connected with that side of my heritage so I have been eating more Sephardic/Turkish food recently. I also hate gefilte fish and chopped liver haha
Hannah K678 hummus is not jewish sweetheart. hummus is a palestinian food. Stop trying to hijack it. and i dont want to hear the arab jewish alibi. Hummus will always be our food!
All of the people saying the dark haired guy "looks Jewish," you do realize that not only is that super offensive, it's also based off a caricature of what you think a "Jew" looks like? It's like looking at every blond white guy and going "oh that guy looks like a Christian"
There are 2 types of Jews: Ashkenazi (Europian and American jews) and Mizrahi (Jews from Arab countries) the following food is Ashkenazi food! The Mizrahi food is much better and Ashkenazim admit it x3
they got nothing on Arab food. ^^ Which also happens to be Islamic. Nothing healthier and better than eating an Arab Islamic meal. :D or just Islamic in general.
Without entering the whole religion war/game I'd like to say a few words -I am a Jewish ( Israeli teen well not so young as a teen more like a young adult ) but let's move on I have the exact same response to most of the food as they do on the video I think it's safe to say that food is a human nature that crosses and bridges all of us -I like how they described the food as compressed and thought the mazzaball is like a sponge in a bath that is absolutely funny even though everyone has it's own opinion it's very accepted that our food is quite on the compressed side and you can compare it to funny things : you made my day I can't erase the smile on my face :)
careful..they might tag you as anti-semite for disliking their food...next thing you know they come knocking down your house calling it as their ''promised land " :)
Tobyn Kidd They (the Jews) are right? It is really anti-Semitic to say "I don't like this kind of food"? *facepalm* Leave it to the Jews to over exaggerate every fucking thing.
Shaima El Mabsouta To see you carry on here on a funny video about 'Jewish' food, teetering on out of control, I would say you probably are anti Semitic. Just a guess though. Apologies if I'm wrong. You probably love Jews, just don't like Eastern European Jewish foods.
Gefilte fish is awesome, but it takes some getting used to. Kugel, I've never hated, but I've never been a big fan of it. Matzah ball soup looks very simple, usually a matzah ball in a broth and sometimes with a few veggies, but tastes awesome. Chopped liver is something I've never had before. I didn't even know it was Jewish in origin. It doesn't surprise me, though, now that I think about it. Rugelach is awesome. Manischewitz ("w" pronounced like a "v") is something I've never had before because I'm under age, but I've heard that it's really good. I still cannot get over the fact that they forgot latkes and baked apples.

Jesse Friedman There's some other ones too. "Ist", "mir", and "wir" are brought over from German. Are the yes and no the same too?
Jesse Friedman Actually Yiddish is just a language that developed among many European Jews, it's a mix of multiple different languages including Polish, Turkish, some Hebrew and most obviously, German. It's its own language with its own culture, that happens to have lots of mixed origins.
They say it's weird to crave matzah ball soup.

I laughed at this waaay too hard ;___;
me, a jew: *laughing loudly as i consume my body weight in challah and cholent*
Okay, but Challah is kind of the best and may or may not be my favorite part of Rosh Hashanah.......
cholent is gross
Same
Not even Jewish here, but Challah is bomb
@@meredithclark6580 lol are you jewish? bc how is challa your fav thing on rosh hashana we have it every saturday (shabbos) we dont only have it on rosh hashana
"White people food" Eugene nailed it!
You are absolutely right. I didn't mean for my comment to equate jews as just white people. I was focusing on the dish.
jews aren't white (except for some Ashkenazis)
Except Jews aren't ethnically white and only some (mostly North American Ashkenazim) are white-passing...
Jewish food is awesome!
... but how could you miss this opportunity to feast on latkas & smetana? :9
NO NO NO NO NO NOT POTATO FOOD!
Scientific Ninja why no "potato food"?
Scientific Ninja potatoes are awesome
***** *Potatoes are the devil!*
_dun Dun Dun!_
Scientific Ninja then we should kill them and eat them
I love chopped liver! I grew up in NY, and it was at almost every party. I thought everyone loves chopped liver. And matzo ball soup? Love it. I'm not Jewish, but I love the food. And oh yeah- I make a mean matzo ball.
+Marianne Kiss Except I can't stand gefilte fish. Ick.
Everyone has different tastes, you cant expect someone automatically like chopped livers.
i love all of these probably because i grew up with them, but i have never eaten choped liver(כבד קצוץ) with celery sticks and i have never eaten gelfilte fish with lettuce. also, no one cals it matza ball soup its called kneidalach. also, i dont know anyone thats says manischewitz we call it tirosh and its f-in delicious.
sivan rottelman um I call it matzah ball soup? And my entire family? And my boyfriends family?
well most of us call it kneidalach, especially us Israeli Jews.
אין מצב אני מצאתי יהודי פה חחחחחחחחחחח .....אני מזו לא מצחיק 😑
M Benyossef I'm a non-religious Jew and I call it kneidalach
actually some people call it matzah ball soup. All the jewish people I know (which is a lot, especially because I'm jewish) call it matzoh ball soup. I think it's probably just a regional thing
Its astonishing and sad how many anti-semitic and bigoted comments there are here...
IKR!
hayderimran7
and war crimes and terrible things happening to jews every day for thousands of years? yeah, I'm not a supporter of the israeli government. You have to stop fucking blaming an entire fucking religion, and blame a small, conservative powerful elite in israel.
hayderimran7
also, liking your own comment isn't cool, its pathetic...
astonishing? this is youtube. it's basically expected.

I think so
Nazareadain LOL so true
+Nazareadain MTE and hes the only one who likes almost all of the dishes..
He's just Greek lol
wait, do non jews not eat chopped liver? I had no idea that was distinctly jewish
Non-Jews are smart enough to not eat Chopped Liver. That stuff is disgusting, nasty, and terrible.
Challah, good home-made Gafilta Fish, Matzah Ball Soup - fucking fantastic delicious! Raisin challah makes me want to go to temple just to get some, sometimes......
aethertech yeah I've never understood the appeal of chopped liver. I mean its liver. thats just chopped up in a mush pile
aethertech Well, Foie Gras is liver, an there are many dishes in many cultures with liver.
Dude, it is literally just chicken liver, chopped up in a blender....
aethertech Non jews also eat chopped liver....
this is what old jewish people like to eat ..... buzzfeed didnt serve the tastey food
I love the European Jewish food, and I bet they would too if it was prepared rigt

I haven't heard of so many of those foods, thanks for sharing your opinion! I love watching your videos =) Food is awesome!
*_FOOD_*
Go to an authentic Jewish delicatessen, you will not regret it. and i am a cynic about untried foods.
This was really funny to watch because I'm Jewish and I eat this stuff all the time.
Tova Kligman Except Ive NEVER eaten chopped liver
Tova Kligman Not even on Pesach?
Sam Goldman No, not on Pesach.
So true
Tova Kligman I don't like it but it's a tradition in our family.
as a jewish, 95% of us , AREN'T EATING THIS
נועם ניר רק אשכנזים
נועם ניר i must be in the 5% when ever i visited my grandparents in new york city she would feed us this stuff.(im half jewish)
נועם ניר Only on the high holy days lol
נועם ניר Then you aren't Jewish
I guess I'm part of the 5%
Now do Islamic food
YES YES YES YES
That would be really hard to do and probably require like a whole hour video...Muslims span across many countries. So would they focus on just middle eastern type food (which in itself has a lot of variation from country to country) Or would they focus on non-middle eastern countries like Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, Libya, Somalia etc etc...you know what I mean though.
Albanian food is da best bro :)
No,No albanian food better! PITE ME SPANAQ,FLI
yessss!!!! or just in general albanian food since i'm albanian too 8)
Lol no this is Jewish people food Eugene hahaha
He clearly doesn't know about Jewish history in the United States
Don't you mean food, in the camps?
When they tired matza ball soup I knew everyone would really like it because it's one of my favorite things to eat during Passover 😃
very disappointed they didn't try those "hamantash" pastries for Purim
+Lori Candido Hamantashen are the best,
I agree.
hamantashen***
as a non-Jewish, Purim is my favorite Jewish holiday :D
There are many different kinds of kugel. I've had delicious versions of all these dishes. It's quite possible they weren't made that well here.
I have literally had all of these for shabbat dinner at my savta's

just say "my grandmother" they don't know the meaning of Savta

I was once walking in downtown NYC and some jewish lady looked and laughed at me and said "the eighties called they want their shirt back." I said "the forties called, your showers ready."
YOU STOLE THAT FROM TWITTER LIAR!

That was bad but she did start it.
that is extremely rude and uncalled for.

Where are the latkes , the salt beef sandwiches and a traditional Jewish chicken soup with kneidlich!
Potato lodkas (or however you spell it, sorry) aRE LITERALLY THE BEST
l.a.t.k.e.s.
thanks
Isnt that Polish cuisine?
Those are slavic not specifically Jewish. But, I agree. They're epic
Your loss.
As an Ashkenazi, Gefilte fish is terrible. I've banned it from holiday meals
i am with you on that. Ashkenazi and safardik Jews have different taste towards some of these foods, and some of these foods i have never even heard of. Does that mean i am a bad Jew haha
this foods are mostly ashkenasi, i as an ashkenazi enjoy them but spharadi jews eat totally differently and just as an information, real rugalach are totally different and way better!!!
I'm a mix of both Ashkenazi and Sephardic and I personally love everything they showed in the video. Maybe not the liver though.
I think all the examples they gave can be prepared a lot better and tastier
EHUDI,
Food shown in the clip is not "Jewish" food. This is an AMERICAN food. American "gefilte fish" is like American Jews - no smell, no look, no taste. If you were offered REAL Jewish food we've pull you away by your ears from the table. Why the commentaries at Jewish clips are mostly from the idiots?
"This is like the gateway drug to Jewish food" I love Eugene
thats mainly ashkenazi food :(
I'm not even Jewish and I saw there wasn't really any Sephardic or Mizrach...
Considering how something like 95% of American Jews are Ashkenazi, we're the ones that matter.
Eh, true enough.
Meirstein nobody likes you tho and your food is disgusting
+Meirstein You know what's really a great idea? Jews attacking each other, because the rest of humanity loves us SO MUCH. What's that saying? A house divided can not fall, right? :)

+jackbaradog he doesn't have the top hat, or the side locks, or the hooked nose.
Most of these foods have so much variation that two preparations
of the same dish can taste almost nothing like each other.
Usually, you like your mother's. :)
Gefilte fish: This tastes really different if it's served hot or cold.
It can also be made with different fish as ingredients.
Kugel: The kugel they had was noodle kugel, but I think they'd have
been better off with potato kugel. Various foods with little in common
other than being flat and baked/cooked in a pan are called "kugel,"
for example, luckshin (noodle) kugel, potato kugel, apple kugel, and
Yerushalmi kugel (different noodles, dark and spicy).
I think Yerushalmi has the most consistent taste - the others vary a lot.
I would also like to note that non-Hasidic Jews also eat kugel,
knowledge or lack thereof about mystical powers notwithstanding.
Chopped liver: The look might put you off if you're not used to it, but it tastes good.
(Rugelach: Heh. There was no way anyone was going to dislike those.)
Manischewitz: That's just a brand of wine, not a traditional Jewish drink...
There are many other Jewish wine brands - if you're a wine afficionado,
I'd suggest the Baron Herzog line. If you want to know what Jewish people
who aren't wine afficionados drink, you can also go with Kedem.
Finally, these foods are all from the Ashkenazic tradition (Western European Jews). Sephardic food is nothing like it
L'shanah tovah!!!
have a sweet new year!
mmm Pomegranates.... :P
Happy New Year!!
English pls
Happy New Year in Mebrew.
Rugelach is the best! I really like it when you have the chocolate type and you heat it up and eat it when it's still warm
I'm not Jewish but My mother worked for Jewish families so I've always had these foods around, as a youth I was stand off-ish but as an adult I love the stuff
Eugene killed me ,so funny! All his comments and the dancing on point, Keith was funny but Chris killed it
the guy with big glasses was eating the matza ball with a fork... wow...
IKR THATS NOT HOW YOU EAT IT
KUGEL IS MY LITERAL LIFE! I can't stand gefilte fish though, ick
Today, I met a walking, talking kugel.
I heard the melody to Hava Nagila
Same!
I started singing it
Same here! :)
Same!! Love it!!
NO THE BAT MITZVAH FLASHBACKS ARE TO HARSH
Eugene's reaction to the matzah ball soup is VERY accurate.

That might be a suprise for you non-jews
but jews actually more attend to drink wine at holydays
rather than manischewitz
1 gefilte dish only tastes good if it's home made
2 the only good kind of Kugel is potato Kugel
3 MATZA BALL SOUP IS AMAZING
4 only the REALLY old ppl eat chopped liver

They missed the CHALLAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They missed the middle eastern cuisine :(
Honestly, some of the preparation styles were entirely half-assed.
i rescently went to kosher resturant that served persian and japanese , it was yummy !!!
My mom grew up Jewish and my dad Christian. We're now atheist. Every other Passover we celebrate with my family. I know almost no Hebrew and just sit there for five hours singing random Hebrew, eating food, and wondering what I would be doing if I wasn't there. But I love Passover XD
I am Jewish and "Jewish" food is da boom. And why did eugene thing kugel is white people food. And I am god damn proud of my matzo ball soup!
+Dylan Seidel yeah! THAT SHITS OURS!
I feel like we need a part 2 with challah, and other Passover food
I'm both Sephardic and Ashkenazic. My favorite "Jewish" foods are Challah, matzah ball soup, hummus etc. I'm part Turkish and I'm trying to be more connected with that side of my heritage so I have been eating more Sephardic/Turkish food recently. I also hate gefilte fish and chopped liver haha
Hannah K678 hummus is not jewish sweetheart. hummus is a palestinian food. Stop trying to hijack it. and i dont want to hear the arab jewish alibi. Hummus will always be our food!
I was singing Hava Nagila all through the video😂
All of the people saying the dark haired guy "looks Jewish," you do realize that not only is that super offensive, it's also based off a caricature of what you think a "Jew" looks like? It's like looking at every blond white guy and going "oh that guy looks like a Christian"
He looks Jewish dude. Chill. I'm very Jewish and I look Christian. It's fine
Point just flew over your head, huh.
he looks jewish k
Go back to tumblr. Jewish people have very similar characteristics. Germans have similar characteristics. All cultures look a like sort of.
Tyler Germany "sort of"
Chris: eh I don't know if it's for me
*takes another bite*
I finally found a video where I've tried the food 😄
There are 2 types of Jews: Ashkenazi (Europian and American jews) and Mizrahi (Jews from Arab countries) the following food is Ashkenazi food! The Mizrahi food is much better and Ashkenazim admit it x3
Shalev Dahan Well might be true (idk) but they had Ashkenazi food because this video was made in America :)
IK
+Shalev Dahan you forgot there are also Sephardics (mainly from Spain and Portugal). Spanish food is the best
+Shalev Dahan so true
Don't forget Sephradic!
they got nothing on Arab food. ^^ Which also happens to be Islamic. Nothing healthier and better than eating an Arab Islamic meal. :D or just Islamic in general.
Why are you even bringing Islamic foods into this..? This is Israeli foods, why are you comparing to a certain race? -.-
Does arab food come with a free bomb?
A100Aic u r an idiot! Ghabiy! Baka!
A100Aic wo ho there, racizm at it's best !
I love Islamic food. Nothing better than a beheading with a side of execution :D
Without entering the whole religion war/game I'd like to say a few words
-I am a Jewish ( Israeli teen well not so young as a teen more like a young adult ) but let's move on I have the exact same response to most of the food as they do on the video I think it's safe to say that food is a human nature that crosses and bridges all of us
-I like how they described the food as compressed and thought the mazzaball is like a sponge in a bath that is absolutely funny even though everyone has it's own opinion it's very accepted that our food is quite on the compressed side and you can compare it to funny things : you made my day I can't erase the smile on my face :)
I'm Jewish and love all of this
Except that they ate a bad looking gafilta fish.
I am Jewish too.
Same
HI XD
I'm Jewish too:)!
i never knew food had a religion ! thanks youtube !
careful..they might tag you as anti-semite for disliking their food...next thing you know they come knocking down your house calling it as their ''promised land " :)
hayderimran7 LOL!!
hayderimran7 Careful. They might be right.
Tobyn Kidd
They (the Jews) are right? It is really anti-Semitic to say "I don't like this kind of food"?
*facepalm* Leave it to the Jews to over exaggerate every fucking thing.
Shaima El Mabsouta To see you carry on here on a funny video about 'Jewish' food, teetering on out of control, I would say you probably are anti Semitic. Just a guess though. Apologies if I'm wrong. You probably love Jews, just don't like Eastern European Jewish foods.
"i went to a channukah" me:wat
Whenever I'm sick I crave matzah ball soup. I once had a fever of 106 and the only thing I'd eat was matzah ball soup.
THIS IS ASHKENAZI FOOD/.
ashkenaz is not well known for their food they should taste "mizrahi" food
or eastern as u say
like hell we aren't. we just love traditional foods on the holidays
Plus most Jews are Sephardic so yeah, including me.
Can you tell us what mizrahi food is like? I am interested in all of this!
