I don't think it's sad, I think his perspective and rational comparative analysis are ESSENTIAL for the world to make correct decisions. His humility of thinking of those less fortunate is why HE and his lady are excellent humans. They know what the solution is. They also understand the difficulties of implementing the solution. It's sobering but they are playing the long game by educating and tweeking the errant perspective of others.

I'm Cuban American, we don't need "tweaking".
I've been here since 1962. Little Havana has been in Miami for over 50 years. Before Castro we had the 8th richest economy in the World.
We were called the "Paris of the Americas".
80% of the Businesses in South Florida are Cuban.
You'd be surprised at the number of Cuban Americans who are members of Congress. Several dozen Cubans that are / have been 'A' list Hollywood Stars, same in Professional Sports, also in creating International Corporations such as Amazon. Yet, we are less then 1% of the population....
So, no Sir. We don't need Tweaking.
Instead look to your own Political Situation here at home, where you are less than 1 generation away from becoming another Cuba or Venezuela. Where American children are Indoctrinated to hate their Country, The Constitution and Capitalism. We lose This Republic, where is there to escape to ?

Poland and countries from the eastern block were also enslaved till 1990, exactly like in Cuba. Went to Poland several times when it was still a communistic regime and it was pretty sad to say the least. Poland today looks like the US with huge supermarkets open 24/7, modern cities and most importantly, freedom.

Ever since I been in love with Polish culture and history. Love all the Polish films like Potop and With Fire & Sword. I hope one day I'll be able to visit, for when I was stationed in Germany with the U.S army the Berlin wall was still up.
When the events of 1989 happened in Poland, many cubans were hoping for the same in Cuba, but it was not to be! Still thank you Poland for being an example against communism, and for still being an example against EU multiculturalism and the Russian threat!

The ingredients of the sandwich symbolize the main ethnic groups in Ybor City, Tampa where it was invented, the Cubans, Spaniards, Germans and Italians. So the bread and the pork is the Cuban, and ham is the Spaniard, the mustard and pickle is the German and in Tampa it also has salami which represents the Italian.

It was heartwarming to see Yoel's joy in tasting a Cuban sandwich for the first time. At the same time, it is sad to know the hardships faced by the people living on the island and their having to worry about dinner every day. Saddest of all is knowing and remembering that such hardships did not exist 65 years ago. What a cruel fate for the island paradise that was.

That said, it's not that Communism itself produces the tinpot dictatorships, but the revolution and destabilization, followed by military power ruling all. In a chaotic environment, warlords always try to take power, because power vacuums, like ones in nature, must be filled. You see this sort of dictatorship coming to form in any form of country that experiences destabilization and a change of ruling power or political upheaval, be it the fall of Weimar Republic, the fall of Republic of China, the fall of the Russian Empire, or the fall of the Roman Republic.
This is why peaceful transition of power is so important. In ancient China, the changing of Emperors often became a bloody and dangerous affair, as power blocs plot and fight over the throne. In America, people were just recently reminded of what happens when that peaceful succession process is disrupted by a dangerous demagogue who denounces the peaceful transition and change of leadership, by sowing doubts about the political system and democratic process itself.
It's easy to go to extremes and simplify things into "if only we did this, everything would be alright," but as history has shown us, it is never that clear cut or simple, because humanity itself is not a simple thing.
