exactly, I heard around this time as well..but the first time she captivated me was the song with Jermaine Jackson "Take Good Care Of My Heart" ,,then I heard "You Give Good Love" back in 85 seeing the video of her looking so fine. The way she she emoted was absolutely amazing. Never since Aretha, you heard someone so pure and authentic. Loved her since then.
I had a similar reaction when I heard I'm Your Baby Tonight for the first time on the radio. I knew instantly that it was her voice. Of course, it was so new it wasn't available in stores yet. Seemed like it took forever for it to get released to the public, and I was living in the twin cities at the time.

You can just see in eyes she was lost. My heart hurts everytime i hear your voice. You remind me of my mom. She struggled with drugs on and off, and I tried so hard to really reach her and tell her im by her side. At 46 her life was taken, but from cancer. I thought for sure she would beat it and we could get her to start her recovery. That day never came. I miss her more then ever, and I worry one day I will become her. I wish I knew how let go so i can move on without being so sad.
She had the voice of an angel and the body of a top model. Add these to her stage presence, charisma and her kindness. She was and still is one the best vocalist of the world. She touched and inspired a lot of people. R.I.P.

But when someone like Whitney die, who had so much life in them when they were here, I don't think of them as dead. I've loved her since I was a young girl. I"m 50. She was one of my idols. I cried the whole day when I heard she pased away, and my husband was like, why are you crying, you didn't even know her. I cried that day too and then after watching Kevin Costner’s eulogy I cried even more because her cassette with Greatest Love of All on it was the very first tape I ever owned. To me she was someone who recognized her exceptional value and completely loved herself as well. Hearing about her passing so young (not why she died but just that it didn’t seem to be “her time”) and then listening to Kevin speak about Whitney’s lifelong struggle with realizing how very loved she was and that she truly deserved it broke my heart. Her voice has never failed to evoke big emotions in me and many of her songs inspire me to be the best person I can be. I somehow have gone down a TH-cam rabbit hole today as I learned about the very young death of another highly respected talent named Twitch. I hope that people learn by watching informative videos like this one that it is way more important that we all try to look less at how a person died but rather keep focus on how that person lived! RIP Whitney and Twitch! You both poured love and light into this world and I thank you for it! 💙🦋💙

Duane Parker. Whitney is up there with the very best of the all-time great female vocalists. To be honest, I do think she was the best, her vocal range was incredible. To be so talented and so beautiful and to go and lose it all through drugs is heartbreaking. I feel these great artists have an enormous pressure put on them which causes them great anxiety, hence the drugs. This incredibly talented lady is missed very much and for her daughter to die in similar circumstances is absolutely heartbreaking. Some of my all time favs have now gone MJ, Prince and Whitney. I love TH-cam bc I am able to see performances I would have never seen. Listening to how hard Whitney went every night literally blew me away. She was out of this world. There’s a 91 concert where she is hoarse yet she still went hard and sounded better than a lot of em. It was the passion and emotion. You could tell she loved it. Just to make a correction for the record. I grew up about 12 blocks away from Whitney, she was not from middle class America. She was from the straight hood in Newark NJ. Then they moved to a decent house in East Orange. East orange is as hard nosed as Newark in parts and is a almost exclusively an African American city. I hear people talk in these documentaries like she moved to a rich white neighborhood and that just isn't true. It was always wrong when Whitney was shunned by her own race. She grew up black, in the black church, in 100% African American culture. I think it stemmed from jealously. Here's a girl who was drop dead gorgeous and had the best voice anyone ever heard, and she had as much class as anyone regardless of where she grew up. Anyway, she was one of the voices of my generation, of my coming of age. She will always hold a special place in my heart. May she rest in peace 🙏 gone too soon

My Mum had her first album and fell in love with her. I was ten years old when she passed away and I didn't know who she was but I was interested in knowing her. The first song which I heard and loved up til today is ‘You Give Good Love’. She is one of my musical voice role models. I started actually singing and not shouting because I would listen and try to sing. Of course I knew I can't sing like her but I would try to sing in my voice. I practiced singing one of my favourite Whitney Houston song and the first I heard ‘You Give Good Love’. I remember I sang it at age eleven in front of my Mum and a neighbour of ours. I did well. I didn't butcher the song. Miss Whitney Houston thank you for being you and for gifting the world with your voice. You touched my Mum and later on you touched me after you passed away.

You can just see in eyes she was lost. My heart hurts everytime i hear your voice. You remind me of my mom. She struggled with drugs on and off, and I tried so hard to really reach her and tell her im by her side. At 46 her life was taken, but from cancer. I thought for sure she would beat it and we could get her to start her recovery. That day never came. I miss her more then ever, and I worry one day I will become her. I wish I knew how let go so i can move on without being so sad.

But when someone like Whitney die, who had so much life in them when they were here, I don't think of them as dead. I cried that day too and then after watching Kevin Costner’s eulogy I cried even more because her cassette with Greatest Love of All on it was the very first tape I ever owned. To me she was someone who recognized her exceptional value and completely loved herself as well. Hearing about her passing so young (not why she died but just that it didn’t seem to be “her time”) and then listening to Kevin speak about Whitney’s lifelong struggle with realizing how very loved she was and that she truly deserved it broke my heart. Her voice has never failed to evoke big emotions in me and many of her songs inspire me to be the best person I can be. I somehow have gone down a TH-cam rabbit hole today as I learned about the very young death of another highly respected talent named Twitch. I hope that people learn by watching informative videos like this one that it is way more important that we all try to look less at how a person died but rather keep focus on how that person lived! RIP Whitney and Twitch! You both poured love and light into this world and I thank you for it! 💙🦋💙

To be so talented and so beautiful and to go and lose it all through drugs is heartbreaking. I feel these great artists have an enormous pressure put on them which causes them great anxiety, hence the drugs. Just to make a correction for the record. I grew up about 12 blocks away from Whitney, she was not from middle class America. She was from the straight hood in Newark NJ. I hear people talk in these documentaries like she moved to a rich white neighborhood and that just isn't true. It was always wrong when Whitney was shunned by her own race. She grew up black, in the black church, in 100% African American culture. I think it stemmed from jealously. Here's a girl who was drop dead gorgeous and had the best voice anyone ever heard, and she had as much class as anyone regardless of where she grew up. Anyway, she was one of the voices of my generation, of my coming of age. She will always hold a special place in my heart. May she rest in peace 🙏 gone too soon
This woman carried herself with such dignity, at the same time was able to come down and live on her husbands level. Very professional in the publics eye, and very classy. She is and will always be the greatest singer that ever lived.

WHITNEY HOUSTON was and is my musical idol. I fell in love with the sound of voice, when I first heard her in 1985. I met her in 1999. With an overwhelming emotion that came over me, she is just about the only artist who makes my heart cry and my spirit smile.. when I see and hear her. I tell you folks this because, I too am trying to live the Greatest Love of All inside of me. For music and singing is my life. My heart. My god placed gift. This woman was class from the beginning till the end. I miss her. 😓 But watching all of these clips takes me back to a place in my life every time that included her music and her voice. 🎤🎶🎤Thank you again for this well put together, respectful piece and tribute. 💜💜💜

It was incredible how much success Whitney gained in her first album at such a young age. 14 million records ? Clive Davis was mesmerised when heard her for the first time and made sure she got the material. Whitney's biggest hits such as I will always love You and Greatest love of all were not new but she added life to them and made them hers.
My Mum had her first album and fell in love with her.
I was ten years old when she passed away and I didn't know who she was but I was interested in knowing her. The first song which I heard and loved up til today is ‘You Give Good Love’. She is one of my musical voice role models. I started actually singing and not shouting because I would listen and try to sing. Of course I knew I can't sing like her but I would try to sing in my voice. I practiced singing one of my favourite Whitney Houston song and the first I heard ‘You Give Good Love’. I remember I sang it at age eleven in front of my Mum and a neighbour of ours. I did well. I didn't butcher the song.

Such a great tragedy she was a month older than me I grew up listening to her music, from the day she hit the huge screens everyone loved her, it was so heartbreaking seeing her last few years with her struggle with drugs and alcohol she went so thin & appeared on stage and started losing her voice during her performances, her funeral was so upsetting hearing her poor mother crying like that it broke my heart may she Rest now in beautiful peace🙏🏽🌹🌷

Naaaah, Whitney had been on a dangerous slide for tiiiime. I mean, the whole world by then knew she was sliding to hell. Search a few more videos on here and watch one video where she skips her way to an award and look at her mother's face. Whitney is sadly, just like all the "extra talented"pple who fans turn to quasi gods, they are swallowed by the fame. She refused help. I will give everyone tht leeway, fine; you got addicted to whatever BUT when you can afford to & KNW you have a reason to - especially when you are a parent, I can't say ooops anymore. Fix up!!!! Before tht day, she had cancelled shows etc so why oh why shld the whole world accommodate her when she wasn't even willing to try to do the same for them? She was sinking everyone with her. Adulting is brutal like tht. Millions had been spent for tht evening and when asked who wanted to lose millions, even her family said okay FT - carry right on without her.
Whitney was a rare talent, granted, but at some point she lacked pple who made her accountable and THAT is how we got to burying her and her messing up the same person she claimed to care much abt. Her child is the only victim in this mess. Bobby and Whitney, they were unfortunate to be addicted by aren't victims. No way!!!
@@melanatedqueen , Bobbi Cristina was exposed to so much all of her life. Whitney and Bobby could have obtain a good nanny to ensure Bobbi say none of the negatives. Yes Whitney as beautiful and possessed that voice that she really did appreciate. Everyone knew Whitney even her mother knew she was an addict but who could force her to get help. As she said, Whitney was Whitney's worse enemy. She probably distanced herself from anyone who truly cared about her. She and Bobby were not good for one another.. She had fortune & fame and was an addict, plain & simple. She wanted what we had, a simple life, she was getting older and was getting tired but an addict is addict if you don't seek help. My heart ached for Bobbi. Parents are suppose to shield their children from madness not introduce them to it. Whitney & Bobbi, Rest in Heaven.

She had a unimaginable pressure on her as an artist who had to preform all the time abd be at her best. She was sexually abused as a child. I dont think we have the right to jugde
