@@vanityonthego3310, actually they didn’t😊. Dolly said that Kevin’s secretary called for a copy of the song and she sent it.
She was driving when she heard a familiar song. When she heard the line “I Will Always Love You” she realised it was her song. She spoke with awe about what Whitney did with the song. She said she doesn’t care when people insists that it’s Whitney’s song because Whitney has made her a whole lot of money😄.

I remember the first time I heard, You Give Good Love. I was driving home and it came on the radio. I hauled butt to a record store around the corner. I was friends with the owner. I ran in and ask him, Roland, who is that singing that song! He said, It’s a new artist. Her name is Whitney Houston. He was sold out of the cassettes but he ordered me one. This was in 1985. I told my Mom, Mom, this woman is going to be a huge star. I had NEVER heard a voice that beautiful. RIP SWEET WHITNEY AND BOBBY KRIS.

exactly, I heard around this time as well..but the first time she captivated me was the song with Jermaine Jackson "Take Good Care Of My Heart" ,,then I heard "You Give Good Love" back in 85 seeing the video of her looking so fine. The way she she emoted was absolutely amazing. Never since Aretha, you heard someone so pure and authentic. Loved her since then.

No, she was not the best singer that 'ever' walked the earth. I really don't understand people's need to idolize someone because they have talent. Yes, she was an amazing singer, but she was also a serious addict who hurt a lot of people. This is what happens when you form a cult like mentality and refuse to hold people accountable; they self destruct. I really think the need to worship people like this could be considered a mental illness.

But when someone like Whitney die, who had so much life in them when they were here, I don't think of them as dead. I guess it was so much life force they carried around when here, spreading it out in the airwaves wherever they went. I can just look at her videos, and photos, and just see life. People need to stop getting offended when they point out that Bobby Brown was "beneath" Whitney Houston..... HE WAS!! Not as a human being, but on a professional level, business level, marketability level, global crossover success level, record sales level, LITERALLY in every sense of the word, HE was nowhere NEAR the star that Whitney Houston was...

I cried that day too and then after watching Kevin Costner’s eulogy I cried even more because her cassette with Greatest Love of All on it was the very first tape I ever owned. To me she was someone who recognized her exceptional value and completely loved herself as well. Hearing about her passing so young (not why she died but just that it didn’t seem to be “her time”) and then listening to Kevin speak about Whitney’s lifelong struggle with realizing how very loved she was and that she truly deserved it broke my heart. Her voice has never failed to evoke big emotions in me and many of her songs inspire me to be the best person I can be. I somehow have gone down a TH-cam rabbit hole today as I learned about the very young death of another highly respected talent named Twitch. I hope that people learn by watching informative videos like this one that it is way more important that we all try to look less at how a person died but rather keep focus on how that person lived! RIP Whitney and Twitch! You both poured love and light into this world and I thank you for it! 💙🦋💙

Lets be thankful we were able to witness “Gods Gift!” Take a listen to the audio concerts on here from The Greatest Love and Moment of Truth World Tours, 86-88, and tell me Whitney wasn’t something special, that voice beyond this world. It’s the way she mastered her instrument. How will I know, 86, San Francisco...I caught the spirit and that’s not a gospel song. Just hearing the different versions of songs bc she never sung a song the same, and her band was great! I’m just saying this to encourage people not to judge. Never throw a stone if you live in a glass house. Life is life and that’s what happened to Whitney. Celebrity doesn’t give you a pass from the realities of life. She fell in love with man nearly 6 years her junior (20 when they met) who had a baby while they were engaged, and she chose to marry him. Love is unexplainable. I haven’t heard anyone mention the fact that she had so many miscarriages and the damage that would obviously do to a woman. Add he’s still cheating...get enhancements, but that don’t work. You already indulge in whatever...what was casual grows legs to numb the pain. She dimmed her light for this guy, and she’s Whitney Houston. She was human and self medicated which is what many people do. She was clearly depressed which made it worse. It’s extremely hard to get out them dark holes. I’m speaking from education and experience. Please stop judging bc it could be you one day!! RIP Whitney, the greatest to ever do it!!!!

Duane Parker. Whitney is up there with the very best of the all-time great female vocalists. To be honest, I do think she was the best, her vocal range was incredible. To be so talented and so beautiful and to go and lose it all through drugs is heartbreaking. I feel these great artists have an enormous pressure put on them which causes them great anxiety, hence the drugs. This incredibly talented lady is missed very much and for her daughter to die in similar circumstances is absolutely heartbreaking. Some of my all time favs have now gone MJ, Prince and Whitney. I am just so grateful I was around in their lifetime

    • @dapperman30
      @dapperman30 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Skygazer I agree, that pressure to continuously live up to the hype when life has you by the jugular has to have a powerful affect on the greats. It’s sad that most of them succumb to their vices which to the public tarnishes the legacy but not with me. Personal life is just that. I remember the music. I love TH-cam bc I am able to see performances I would have never seen. Listening to how hard Whitney went every night literally blew me away. She was out of this world. There’s a 91 concert where she is hoarse yet she still went hard and sounded better than a lot of em. It was the passion and emotion. You could tell she loved it. I’m grateful to have lived when music had meaning and you liked an artist solely for their talents. We didn’t have social media so we didn’t get much about the personal.

Just to make a correction for the record. I grew up about 12 blocks away from Whitney, she was not from middle class America. She was from the straight hood in Newark NJ. Then they moved to a decent house in East Orange. East orange is as hard nosed as Newark in parts and is a almost exclusively an African American city. I hear people talk in these documentaries like she moved to a rich white neighborhood and that just isn't true. It was always wrong when Whitney was shunned by her own race. She grew up black, in the black church, in 100% African American culture. I think it stemmed from jealously. Here's a girl who was drop dead gorgeous and had the best voice anyone ever heard, and she had as much class as anyone regardless of where she grew up. Anyway, she was one of the voices of my generation, of my coming of age. She will always hold a special place in my heart. May she rest in peace 🙏 gone too soon

RIP Queen 👑❤️

@@violetdivinespiritualreadi1824 YOU NEED TO STOP READING THE LIES ON WIKIPEDIA. Whitney Houston was not even close to being the first black female played in heavy rotation on MTV. Her first video to be played on MTV was HWIK, it was played in heavy rotation on the 2nd week of January 1986. The first black female played in heavy rotation was Donna Summer in August of 1983 SWHFTM, she set a precedent by being the first black female to have 3 consecutive videos placed in heavy rotation on MTV (Unconditional Love in Nov 83/There Goes My Baby Sept 84), followed by Tina Turner and the Pointer Sisters. That record was broken until Janet Jackson released Rhythm Nation. Tina Turner and Janet Jackson were the 2 black females that had their videos placed consistently on MTV like Prince, Madonna and MJ in the 80s. Houston first 2 videos did not make MTV rotation lists, and her videos for DWAHIA & OMIT were played for 2 weeks before being dropped from rotation. Houston broke down no barriers, she debut in 1985, not 1965. First black female that appeared on the cover of 17 was Joyce Wilburn in 1971.

@@violetdivinespiritualreadi1824 Furthermore POP music's first female mega star was Donna Summer, she was the first female to dominated the billboard charts. Selling millions worldwide and breaking down barrier by crossing into multiple genres. She sold 20 million plus albums and 15 million singles (10 gold singles (1mil), 2 platinum (2mil) and the first gold maxi-single) in the US market at the end of 70s. That's more than Houston who sold 15 million albums and had 1 gold single, Madonna sold 20 million plus albums and had 4 gold singles in the US market in the 80s. Summer was the first female artist to bring 3 albums to the top of the charts back to back. She was the first female to have the #1 single and #1 album on the pop charts simultaneously (3 times in 8 months), the first to have 2 # 1 singles in the top 5 & top 3 on the Hot 100 chart, and 2 singles in the top 3 (twice in 4 months). In one 12 month period Nov 25, 1978 - Nov 24 1979, she had 6 top 4 singles (4 #1s, 1#2, 1#4). She was the first female to have 3 # 1 singles and 5 top 10s or 5 top 5 singles in a calendar year 1979. The first female to top 3 major charts at once (Pop, Album & R & B). She had 9 consecutive top 5 singles on the Hot 100, a record Madonna broke in 1987. Summer was in the 10 artists worldwide on the pop charts for 4 consecutive year 76,77,78, 79. Madonna had 5 years in the 80s, Houston had 2. Houston was never the Queen of Pop, Madonna had that sewed up in the 80s whether you liked her or not.

It was incredible how much success Whitney gained in her first album at such a young age. 14 million records ? Clive Davis was mesmerised when heard her for the first time and made sure she got the material. Whitney's biggest hits such as I will always love You and Greatest love of all were not new but she added life to them and made them hers.

My Mum had her first album and fell in love with her.
I was ten years old when she passed away and I didn't know who she was but I was interested in knowing her. The first song which I heard and loved up til today is ‘You Give Good Love’. She is one of my musical voice role models. I started actually singing and not shouting because I would listen and try to sing. Of course I knew I can't sing like her but I would try to sing in my voice. I practiced singing one of my favourite Whitney Houston song and the first I heard ‘You Give Good Love’. I remember I sang it at age eleven in front of my Mum and a neighbour of ours. I did well. I didn't butcher the song.
Miss Whitney Houston thank you for being you and for gifting the world with your voice. You touched my Mum and later on you touched me after you passed away.

She was so tired, and she also said that early on in her career that she just wanted to sing, she was shy and didt like all the attention, but nobody cared, if she would stop all the conserts and records,no more money....feel so sorry for her, cause she was a tired soul trying to please everyone around her. Naaaah, Whitney had been on a dangerous slide for tiiiime. I mean, the whole world by then knew she was sliding to hell. Search a few more videos on here and watch one video where she skips her way to an award and look at her mother's face. Whitney is sadly, just like all the "extra talented"pple who fans turn to quasi gods, they are swallowed by the fame. She refused help. I will give everyone tht leeway, fine; you got addicted to whatever BUT when you can afford to & KNW you have a reason to - especially when you are a parent, I can't say ooops anymore. Fix up!!!! Before tht day, she had cancelled shows etc so why oh why shld the whole world accommodate her when she wasn't even willing to try to do the same for them? She was sinking everyone with her. Adulting is brutal like tht. Millions had been spent for tht evening and when asked who wanted to lose millions, even her family said okay FT - carry right on without her.
Whitney was a rare talent, granted, but at some point she lacked pple who made her accountable and THAT is how we got to burying her and her messing up the same person she claimed to care much abt. Her child is the only victim in this mess. Bobby and Whitney, they were unfortunate to be addicted by aren't victims. No way!!!

@@melanatedqueen , Bobbi Cristina was exposed to so much all of her life. Whitney and Bobby could have obtain a good nanny to ensure Bobbi say none of the negatives. Yes Whitney as beautiful and possessed that voice that she really did appreciate. Everyone knew Whitney even her mother knew she was an addict but who could force her to get help. As she said, Whitney was Whitney's worse enemy. She probably distanced herself from anyone who truly cared about her. She and Bobby were not good for one another.. She had fortune & fame and was an addict, plain & simple. She wanted what we had, a simple life, she was getting older and was getting tired but an addict is addict if you don't seek help. My heart ached for Bobbi. Parents are suppose to shield their children from madness not introduce them to it. Whitney & Bobbi, Rest in Heaven.
