      Hi Oscar. Thanks for another great video. Could you possibly make a walkthrough video-guide of the mighty Casio SA-46? Thanks in advance. 🙏

    Any chance of a part 2 video? A more in depth exploration and patch creation would be very welcome. Really like this synth

    The right hand envelope is now called VCA ADSR in a recent version of the plugin, so I actually believe in the typo hypothesis.

    WOWZER, this took me back to yesteryears… I bought a complete original system 100 back in ~1978. Then built up a system 100M. Great job on the “can learn” theme.

    Its true that if you know what you're doing, any analog style synth should be pretty easy. Its all OSC-Filter-ADSR pretty much. Sure, some models may add a little or subtract from this basic scheme.

    Very cool video! I like that you did a drone session and that you went minimal for the track. There is a million videos on how to get that Drumcode, Afterlife or any top 100 beatport sound . Even if you might get less views, these sound exploration videos are far more interesting, for me at least. Thank you Oscar!

    lovely video, I personally think your snare would sound much better one downbeat after it is programmed. Try it. I think is holding back the groove, which is complex.

    A vcv rack series 🥰 specifically short let’s build a wacky FX or MFX rack to use as plugin… (building a user library over time)
    Side note: MiRack the iPad version does work as auv3 plugin and it’s amazing. If it’s not already in vcv rack I’d say it’ll be along soon.
    There are many long form vcv TH-cam streams; but not many short form or integrated DAW toolbox ideas
    I see you have a modular on your desk 😉 thanks for the video, I didn’t really know what droning was … I’ll be able to use it now as I have a couple synths with drone function.

    • @morgan0
      @morgan0 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i doubt vcv will have a plugin version anytime soon. or rather an official version. there was a third party plugin version that was told to shut down so he could do an official version and it’s been a long time and it’s still not there. mirack also has an auv2 version for daws that don’t support auv3 yet. also a standalone mac version. i find it runs faster as well.

    I wish DAW's would build in pre routing for commonly used midi controllers. I always spend like 15 minutes setting up all of my controls for a synth.

    • @OscarUnderdog
      @OscarUnderdog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed - it's the reason I end up rarely using the MIDI controllers I have...

    Tnx for this, Oskar keep em coming! I see you often mention Diva. which is an amazing synth. I only know this thanks to so many cool presets, but I would like to see the master having a go at it and teach us what makes it so damn good. Cheers!

      Diva is slept on in the modern beat production and hip-hop world, been finding some LUSH sounds through it.

    Could you do a video on how you mix your low end overall? My mixes are sounding so much better these days but my final gripe is that I am sacrificing more of the lower frequencies of my chords, melodies and vocals than I would like to in order to acquire a clean and powerful low end. I have a strong thumping and clean low end but a slightly tinny tonal balance on everything higher than my kick and bass - my cymbals/hats/percussion are ok.

    Btw a good idea, related to this video: you could show how to make a real "controlled chaos" track, like Josh Wink's "Nuclei". I think that guy is a true master of maximizing the potential of analog sounds in almost every way possible. I really love these sudden, weird, almost unintentional things in his music. 🙏

    Great video !! I even found things that will be of use for me ... since I'm lucky enough to have an original Roland S100 from the 70' :D ;-) Well, almost ... I have the two main modules (keyboard and expander) but don't have the sequencer, the "mixer" module with the effects and the 2 speakers :( which is a shame because, when complete that synthesizer have one of the greatest design I've ever seen :D Sooo 70ies
    And personally, it's one of my favorite hardware synths. It's easy and intuitive to master and give great analog sounds. Unfortunately, it's not that common on youtube so your video is a great addition :-) And I'm a bit like you : not a great keyboardist but I prefer to hear the sound and see the synth while tweaking it. That's why I prefer hardware analogs to software synths. For me, there's nothing like playing with buttons and faders while listening to the changes of the sounds :D
    Some suggestion for future videos : non modular synths : mini Moog D, Yamaha CS80 and Roland Jupiter 8 ; semi-modular synths : Korg MS20 and Arp 2600 ; modular synths : EMS Synthi A or AKS. Yes, only big classics from the analog period ;-)
    On a side note, I may have a explanation about the 2 envelopes being both called "VCF ADSR". As I said the original synth was made of 5 main modules : keyboard, expander, mixer, sequencer and speaker. All the sound design modules were distributed on the big keyboard and expander modules with, for example, the S&H and ring mod on the expander module in place of the keyboard. The two envelopes are simply called "envelope generator ADSR" and, I think, by default routed to the VCF ence the confusing names on the software. They probably simply reproduced the look from the old hardware synth.
    Cheers,
    Octopus, monophonic cephalopod ;-)
